Well by your definition of playoff, the BCS is a playoff system, so its safe to say your definition is a joke and you're not sure what you're talking about. In a system where there is no playoff route TO the championship game (such as the BCS) the two best teams (determined by resume and simple observation) should meet in the championship game. This year, those two teams are LSU and Bama.
If you have watched even one Alabama or LSU game this season you would have realized (unless you cannot make simple observations about football) that they are on a different level than any other team in thecountry. ESPN has nothing to do with this, as it is an obvious fact.
That's interesting since OSU was blown out by Florida in the national championship. Mich and OSU were clearly not the two best teams that year, and as a Michigan fan I was against a rematch then. Some objectivity would serve you well.
They are obviously the two best teams in the nation, if you think there's a real argument against that, you must not actually watch the games. This is why I have no issue with a rematch. If the two best teams aren't playing for the national championship, the game loses its legitimacy. Let's not get caught up in this blowout in Stillwater, OU is simply overrated and disinterested.
LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the college football and it's not even close. If you can't see that you don't understand football very well. Alabama will play in the NC and it would be an illegitimate championship game if they didn't.
I don't understand how everyone is so enamored with the win over Nebraska. Yes they were ranked and yes we won handily. However, we overlook the fact that they committed inexplicable turnovers and have lost at home against Northwesten. Also, OSU should have beat them if not for an epic meltdown and our offense has not performed against anyone with a servicable defense.
I'm surprised at the number of people here that feel that like the OSU game is a mere formality en route to a possible BCS game. Let's take a step back and realize that NU isn't very good, and we're not exactly dominant ourselves.

Well since the MLB has a playoff system and college football does not, I would say no. Find an analogy that isn't apples and oranges.

Ok State had their chance against against a shitty Iowa State team that Alabama would've beaten by 35.
