Meta: Tim and TomVH transition
I know Brian is currently looking for replacements, but when are Tim and TomVH officially done with this site? As we have not heard anything concrete, is there going to be a gap in Wednesday Recruiting, Big Ten Recruiting Class Rankings, Sunday Updates, etc. Yes this is a free site, but at the same time, loyal users should be informed as many of us check this site 50+ times a day. I would like to know if I will be reading a TomVH post tonight, or going to bed without this information from here on out.
Also, I for one would still like to follow their content and would like to know about their new positions. The type of work they will be doing is consumer based, so I don't feel asking this is out of line.
Mods feel free to delete if deemed uneccessary.

I was thinking the same thing. Glad somebody asked. I'm anxious to see an answer. For what it's worth I'm pretty sure Tom is on vacation via what i read on his twitter.
August 21st, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
TomVH is on vacation??
Who in the Hell does Tom think he is anyway? Taking a vacation knowing that I've been sitting at my computer ALL DAY waiting for my recruiting update.
I can't stand people nowadays... always thinking about themselves.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
Maybe you should email Brian and ask him.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
I was thinking about doing that, but I figured I am not the only one who has these questions. I know it has been a topic amongst my friends that follow the site.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
I love mgoblog, and I would call myself a loyal and avid reader, but 50x a day?
August 21st, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
50 times is nothing. More like 50,000.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:22 PM ^
It's not that I'm crazy. It's that you DON'T CARE ENOUGH!
You're probably the kind of guy that doesn't cut himself each time Michigan lets up a first down, aren't you? You can probably watch the game without "making a scene" too.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:28 PM ^
...makes me happy!
August 21st, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
HAAA I am normal! I check this site easily 20X per day!
August 21st, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
yah, at that rate, we should probably abbreviate "loyal users" as "lo-sers", amirite?
August 21st, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
wenham wolverine...im officially calling out your fanhood. im also putting a floor on 50 as the MINIMUM amount of times a day to refresh this site or u are a loser

August 21st, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
I thought the lo-sers were the ones with more than 50 visits per day? Now they're the ones with fewer?
August 21st, 2011 at 9:22 PM ^
I totally agree. I'm glad someone finally posted what we were all thinking.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
And we don't need to know yet
August 21st, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
You'll have a Tom recruiting post on Wednesday. The timetable's set but I'll leave it to Brian to elaborate.
When the changes happen, you won't be disappointed.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
Ooh, Cryptic Misopogon. Perhaps being groomed to take over for Cryptic TomVH?
August 21st, 2011 at 10:19 PM ^

August 22nd, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
Me? No. I said you won't be disappointed.
August 21st, 2011 at 10:08 PM ^
Cryptic Misopogon -- I like it.
August 22nd, 2011 at 6:31 AM ^
one last time?
August 21st, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
As per Tom's Twitter... He's on Vacation now...
August 21st, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
Brian will let us know when there is something to tell us. Until then, we will all get nothing and like it.
50X a day? Seriously? Do/ did you work for Borders?
August 21st, 2011 at 9:41 PM ^
Between the iPhone app and having a desk job, I definitely pull the site up and refresh when I have a minute.
I think the people saying they check a few times a day are in denial.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:55 PM ^
Refresh at the desk whenever I have a spare moment (and even when I don't)... and check-in via iPhone/iPad app when I'm in mtgs, bathroom, lunch, etc...!

...is definitely MGoBlog time. It's my fortress of solitude. Will Brian scream "eeewwwww" when he envisions his legions of followers dropping a deuce while frantically searching for MGoBlog updates? I don't think so. We're all human....well, except for "THE_KNOWLEDGE". His $hit don't stink.
August 21st, 2011 at 10:21 PM ^
He would never engage in something as common as shitting.
August 22nd, 2011 at 1:38 AM ^
He has developed a space-age vacuuming device.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:41 PM ^
.....is almost always an active tab in Google Chrome when I am home. Yes, F5 and I have an intimate relationship too.

The reaction of some of the board to the news of Tim's and Tom's upcoming departure reminds me of an old story about a guy who gave a homeless guy $5.00 every day when he saw him on the street but one day he forgot his wallet so he had none to give. When the begger found out he wasn't getting his usual $5.00 he complained to his friends that he had been "cheated" by his usual benefactor.
This is a free website guys that is supported by ads and the contributions of people who feel guilty at the enormous amount of fantastic free content we get on Michigan sports. The fact that it's spawned real career opportunities for two of its most notable contributors is nothing short of fantastic for Tim & Tom and speaks loudly to the quality of their work. And, as a business owner myself I can also say it speaks loudly to the overall quality of MGoblog and the people Brian has surrounded himself with.
The upcoming departure of Tim & Tom should be a siren call to all aspiring writers who wish to make covering Michigan sports an actual career as Brian and now T & T have. Great job Brian - you should be very proud.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
...co-signed.
August 21st, 2011 at 10:12 PM ^
We are so fortunate that Brian put mgoblog together, and for the contributions made by Tom, Tim, and many others. I hope many of those coming to this tremendous site appreciate what a privilege we have, and find tangible ways to express this. Between Brian's marvelous commentary, unverified voracity, upon further review, the analysis and tracking of recruits, the explanation of schemes and plays, and the interviews conducted by Tom, we have available more information about Michigan than is available for any other school in the country.
August 21st, 2011 at 10:22 PM ^
Maybe I missed it, but I think you are really reading a little too much between the lines with that poor attempt at analogy with that dumb bum story (no offense, homeless peeps). Maybe people just enjoy reading Tim and Tom's contributions to mgoblog, and maybe they just found good opportunities? Did Brian say they were feeling jilted?
August 21st, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
I don't think you understand the analogy. Or I don't understand your comment.
August 21st, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
There were multiple people in the original posts on the topic who felt like they deserved more from Tim and Tom, Brian should have paid them more to stay, or they should have stayed out of loyalty.
August 21st, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
No matter if you liked my analogy or not the fact remains that a significant portion of the board is worrying about the upcoming quality of the Michigan recruiting information being provided to them free of charge. And the point I was trying to make was:
A. It's a free site - we have zero room to bitch about who is or is not contributing
B. When you run a successful business good people sometimes leave. But other good people generally rise up to replace them when they see that opportunity exists as it does here on MGoblog.
No, to the best of my knowledge Brian has not posted anything even remotely negative about the upcoming departures of his two of his best contributors. But many people here on the site sure have.
August 22nd, 2011 at 10:19 AM ^
Your analogy wasn't lost on me. Your whole post was well presented and spot on if you ask me. Well said!
August 22nd, 2011 at 11:16 AM ^
do you own Mgroworld?

My company sells medical replacement parts for hospital equipment. We are based in Northern Ohio.

Tim is taking over for Josh Helmholdt at Rivals.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:55 PM ^
I guess you probably knew this already - I didn't realize that Brian had mentioned this in his "MGoJob Available" post.
August 21st, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
Rumor has it that TomVH is taking Oprah's slot in the afternoons.
