Meta: Any updates on the recent bug/fix issues?
From Seth's post on February 25th - havent seen any comments since on the situation. Looks like the following got done - any updates on the remaining bug/fixes? FWIW my #1 wish is the fix the damn reply functionality. Without that this place is kinda like a digital MgoBulletin board with everyone posting their respective thoughts with no direct interaction.
Update on a few of the bugs.
We pushed out an SSL update yesterday.
Right now we have fixes on staging for:
- Reply Button issue - Nope. Sad Panda. Very sad Panda.
- Open Live Writer integration (so I can post the damn UFR) - Yes! (and thanks...I guess)
- Dropdown Menu issue on mobile - Nope
- A security issue that popped up. - No idea
Hopeful we'll be able to push those out over the weekend. No bueno.
HUEL asked me for clarification on what I meant by one of the bug requests:
- Make a fucking three! Yes (and great idea on your part adding this to the bug/ punch list)
Clarification was provided.
Other bugs we found:
- Uploading a photo then trying to resize it causes a crash and you could lose the whole article. No idea but I'd guess no. Havent updated since the naughty bit ban.
- Points suddenly stopped working after the SSL update (I just negged this post and indeed it doesn't show) Nope, still broken
- Some people are reporting that the site plussed a post they haven't read. Some people are correct. This happens frequently
- iPhone users are reporting extremely long load times. Beats me. I have a Galaxy 10+
- The function that takes you to the newest comment or to your comment right after you post sometimes sends you to a random place instead. This is true
- I asked if there was a way to do push notifications in the container app. Um...no clue.
Just got a “mgoblog.com would like to know your current location” when logging in on mobile.

The lack of a reply button is harsh. The functionality of a message board is, more or less, destroyed when replies are not allowed. I should be surprised that HUEL has let this issue go on for over one week, now. Sadly, I am not...

@Seth - Yikes (if true).
If it makes you feel any better I did that once too. We were getting ready to launch a pretty massive overhaul of our company website and had a beta site live for updates andt testing. Long story short I thought they had the current version ready to go so we pushed it into production only to find out they were still doing some coding on various interior pages and screwed everything up.
Seth, most of these things are attributed to a round hole and a square peg. You guys REALLY need to look at using something other than Drupal. A vanilla install of WordPress and BuddyPress has all of the options (and then some) of this site and none of the bugs.
I blame putin, not our poster HP with the new avatar, but the real putin.

I'm so glad none of this is my responsibility. I left my laptop on a plane last Friday and was without it until Monday when the nice people at American Airlines found it in a seat pocket on the plane that I had been on, which was taken out of service before we took off and placed in a hangar somewhere (cue that last scene in the warehouse in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" with thousands of identical planes.......er, trunks) and really had no idea how to do anything beyond finding the serial number of my laptop (Find My app....what's that?) and even that took all the tech brainpower I could muster....so thanks for being the kind of thinkers that know how to do this stuff. I have much appreciation for you.

Idk if it helps but I’m on iPhone right now and it loads perfectly fine. Front page within 2 seconds and the board page at least that fast.

Update on bug: still running Drupal, so bug is still installed.
Drupal is like the McDonalds ice cream machines... but at least McDonalds is getting kickbacks for using garbage that doesn't work.
I'd rather beat Staee and have a website that doesn't work than lose to Staee and have RCMB.

Same here. I left my phone in a NYC hotel shuttle bus last week. Fortunately, the shuttle driver was an honest fellow and I got it back later that evening.
As others have said in this thread and on many others over the years, I simply don't see most other sites with the problems that Mgoblog experiences. Why stick with what seems to be an antiquated hosting platform if there are much better alternatives? If I am off-base here, my apologies. Maybe someone with a background in website production could weigh in.

This is BS, all the money I pay for the mgoblog membership, I would expect better. Can I just rewrite this site in Wordpress? It would take me a weekend to do..I kid

Why won't you guys outsource the BBB to a 3rd party? Unix based boards utilizing perl script are rock solid and many mgousers would pay the cost for you. this constant Huel breakage retardation and general hatred of our forums should have prompted this a long time ago.

The drop down doesn't work on my iPhone.
The pull down menu from the front page does not work for me on mobile. Am I the only person experiencing this?
I'm on Android using firefox.
