All signs point to a West Coast team.  It's too bad because he is such a solid player, but with the commits we have at the DB position I'm not as depressed as I could be.  The Countess recommit has really boosted my spirits.  NSD can't come soon enough!!!

Yeah, I'm not sure we would want him at this point. Our DB class is pretty big and we still have needs at O-line, D-line, TE and true S. Unless we get a stud true S I don't think we should add any more DB's.

He was never coming here after the cold he experienced on his visit. He's supposed to be a tough football player yet he let weather affect him. Can't avoid cold the rest of you career son so you might as well embrace it. Corvalis, Eugene, Seattle and now Boulder aren't warm places come November. And we're not even talking about the NFL and some of the cold places you might have to go to like Lambeau or Soldier. So hope you're happy playing at mediocre Cal you might get to a bowl before your eligibility is spent. In the meantime we have more pressing needs than adding a sixth DB in our recruiting class. Bring on Mr. Cooper!

He had a very negative reaction to the cold. That week we were in single digits most of the week. Why would you go to Cal that has missed a bowl game 3 times in the last 10 years and hasn't been in the hunt for a NC in decades. Why not go to UM and have a chance to be coached by a guy who had a top 3 D in the NFL 3 years running. Especially if your plan is to take your game to the next level so you can play in the NFL.

Predictible.

Damn, it's like we all know what's going to happen.  I love it.

Edit: And by "we" I mean, TomVH, who shares his knowledge generously on that site, and is therefore an extension of "us".

Does that make sense?

Oh well.

is bypassing a cold-weather school thousands of miles from his home in favor of one of the best public universities in the country—in a gorgeous area, no less—that's just a long drive from his home town. I spent a summer in Berkeley back when I was just out of high school, and it seemed like a pretty interesting place. Good luck to him.

head out here for a home and home with the Golden Bears - like the 1979-1980 series.

Michigan won both games. Berkeley in September is beautiful.

Not the Big House, but it's a nice stadium and location too.

It's so gorgeous there. If I were him I would have picked Michigan - because at Cal people care MUCH more about academics than football and thus the football players aren't quite the same types of celebrities they are in Ann Arbor. However, as far as quality of life is concerned - it doesn't get much better than Berkeley.

Oh well, we weren't likely to get Mcclure after he didn't like the cold. However, the idea that "we didn't need any more CBs, even Mcclure" is completely ridiculous. We are still pretty thin on DBs. We have 6 guys between FS and the 2 CB slots before freshmen. Brown and Carter are likely to RS, probably Taylor too unless we need the depth and ST play. Countess will probably contribute somewhat in year 1, at least enough to not RS and Hollowell can cover right now, but is tiny and can't help in base sets, maybe not on STs either. I'm not huge on Talbott and either Chritian or Floyd is going to play a lot of FS. That means Mcclure probably had a good shot to be a top 4 CB on this roster. Either he or Countess was going to be in there and I'd have liked to have the competition at least. Plus Woolfolk is gone after this year, so starting caliber CBs are a must..

I know we need DL, but any DL we get isn't going to play a ton. Roh,Martin and RVB are going to start and Black and Wilkins will back up at DE along with maybe Watson and one of the freshmen we already have. Ash,Washington,Campbell and Talbott are in front of them for PT at DT and those guys are mostly young too. Not that I mind stocking up on depth and sure, I'd like to add Cooper, but next year's class is going to be DL heavy and we have enough guys for this year(plus 2-3 of our freshman DL will redshirt,Heitzman,Rock and maybe Beyer). Long term depth is not the problem. We'll get our OLs, most likely Bryant and one more OT whether Nowicki or Fisher or maybe even Flavin.
