While I'd love to see them change colors, as a long time Jenison resident, the marching band program is a force. And if anyone doubts this, just go to a varsity football game and watch how empty the stands are after the band is done at halftime. As for football, the district is landlocked, and can't grow like neighboring districts, and played in the OK Red for many years as one of the smallest schools. Even when redistricting takes place, they go from the Rockford's of the world to the EGR/Lowell's of the world. Save for a few stellar athletes to suit up, the years are pretty lean for football. Super glad JJ is sharing a little influence, however! THAT is very cool!

Plymouth-Canton has a very solid band program. My son is in the marching band at Rockford right now. They put on a great show. Definitely a major commitment from kids and parents. I just put dropped $4k to go to LA to watch them march in the Rose Parade this January. Jenison is very impressive as well.

I've got a great daily routine going right now. I've up'ed my karate to eight times a week. I added boxing, lunches in on weekends, I do kick-boxing three times a week, Krav Maga four times a week, an hour of meditation in the morning at sunrise and again at sunset. So yeah! I'm doin' great.

I do this with my youth soccer team.

A lot of their fucking parents (who cannot let them just have fun and play a game) get them wound so tight before games that the performance anxiety is a killer.

I talk to them about visualizing what they want to see out on the field.  What they want to be doing.

It works.  They're much more relaxed, they have more fun, they have more fun -> perform better.
