Per sources, Michigan and Toledo are finalizing plans to play Wednesday in Ann Arbor. The matchup will replace Michigan-NC State on the schedule and complete U-M’s non-conference slate. Toledo is 3-2 and the highest rated MAC team on KenPom (101).
It's too bad they couldn't work something out with one of the high majors they were looking at, but it's better than nothing!

I agree. Better to play a game you know you can get in than wait around for the possibility NC State is able to reschedule and possibly be left without any game. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Does it necessarily mean they won’t reschedule? Michigan doesn’t have a game 12/13-25. And in all likelihood will have at least 1 B10 game canceled/moved/delayed that could make an opportunity later on if NC State’s aligns.

They said earlier that once the B1G season starts they won't play teams out of conference due to Covid protocols.

Kind of a bummer for the numbers come March. Not a single power 5 team in non-conference. This game is trading Torvik #38 for #118.
It's obviously out of our control but sure would have been nice to get a bit of stiffer test than Toldeo.

Held out until when? Tip off is 44 hours away and the conference schedule starts on Sunday. We want the team to be relatively fresh and prepared for Penn State. Ward made the most of the situation.
