we lost 4 BIG games in OT.  you telling me that not having levert for 30 min wouldn't flip all of those games?  no, i'm sure it's better having dakich in there instead.

does levert flip the msu or IU games this year?  no, but MD or this game, quite likely.  especially when the other two guards tonite couldn't throw the ball in the ocean.  there's a reason he was pre season all american.

Don't everyone hurt your ankles jumping on and off the bandwagon.

Yeah, the team isn't great.  Yes, they aren't very good defensively.  But they are also out two of their best players, have another starter clearly still recovering from back surgery, and whiffed on a couple of recruits.  It isn't a fun experience, but anyone surprised this team lost at Wiscy against one of the hotter teams in the country are just being myopic.

They were down Lavert for most of the year, had lost a ton of NBA-level talent, and suffered through issues with Walton that submarined their PG depth.

I'm not making excuses for a mediocre year, but the amount of dread and calling for Beilein's head has driven me crazy.

I mostly agree with you; the negativity on this blog towards the basketball team is a bit much. That being said, the worst part of this season is that it's hard for me to see a way that we'll be able to compete against the better teams for the foreseeable future. We're just not recruiting at a level that will make us competitive, and there's no reason to believe we'll ever be able to under Beilein

I think next year's class will be solid with Simpson leading the charge, and they should return two seniors in the starting lineup for the starting lineup for the first time in what seems like eons. That is what has driven me crazy about people talking up MSU this year; they have three starters who were in the same year as Stauskas, GR III, and Mitch.  Given UM those three guys now and they'd be blowing the doors off teams. 

Beilein's teams never had such high-level attrition, and while some of his recruiting has been suspect, his best teams usually had a slew of upperclassmen who knew his system well, not a bunch of first and second-year players along with a couple juniors.

was the loudest guy touting John's ability to find hidden talent and coach them up when they were in the NCAA final and the elite eight. Get out of here with the fire Beilein garbage. All reasons have been stated above about why he will remain employed at Michigan so I won't repeat them.

I agree. It's crazy yo FIRE a classy guy like JB who took a team of NBA players who fell into his lap to a final and an Elite 8. Just crazy.

Just ask him to retire quietly and pay Greg Marshall a ton of Nike $$$ to come here. He can go coach with his son at LeMoyne with buyout money. Everyone's happy.

Serious question, OSU will be ahead of us in the final standings and they have the tiebreaker head to head...

They have two bad loses but after that the resumes are similar.

No way the conference gets 8 bids....are we behind them now?

I'm so sick of fans constantly comparing Beilein's resume to that of Amaker and Ellerbe. That's the equivalent of comparing every football coach to Rich Rod and Brady Hoke. Michigan basketball used to be a powerhouse and we as fans should expect nothing less. The facilities, tradition, name brand, money and resources, and proximity to talent all allow for that.

In no universe is missing the tournament for the 4th time in 9 years ok. None.

The guys recruiting is a joke, the attendence is plummeting like a rock, and the roster is in no better shape now than it was 5 years ago. He needs to go and we need to get a guy who will recruit and coach like he's at a big time program and not at a mid major.

What? You are entitled to exactly jack shit super fan. Expect nothing less than what? Final Fours/Elite Eight rotations every year because *that* is our tradition (it isn't) and "We're Michigan"!?

Guess what? Missing the dance with injuries to key players two years in a row will account for missing the tournament. Not an inability to coach. The guys recruiting is a joke? You mean the same guy who brought in Hardaway Jr, Glenn Robinson III, Trey Burke, Nik Stauskas, and Mitch McGary? AND has a reputation for coaching no names into respectable players? Yup. Super terrible. 

What the hell were you expecting this team to do without Levert and Albrecht? Let me relate this another way, what did you expect to happen to Michigan football in Lincoln when Denard went down? That's right, we were fucking obliterated. When you lose your #1 guy there's only so much bondo is going to fix. Was Bellomy supposed to come in and channel his inner Tom Brady because "We're Michigan"?

The fact that the team is 20-10 and is one win from the tourney is once again a testament to Coach B imo. This childish fucking nonsense questioning his ability to coach, recruit, or develop players is the shit I expect to see on scout, not here.

The roster is dog shit. LeVert wasn't even supposed to be here this year. Beilein recruits like he's at a mid major and it shows.

Wisconsin lost two first round picks and their coach and were 9-9 at one point this year and are comfortably going to make the tournament this year.

But yeah, I guess that's too much to expect at Michigan. Get fucking real asshole, and stop being mad online.
