MBB Freshman Arrive on Campus (Legit 7 footer?)

Submitted by RED DAWN on

Listed 247 heights Teske 6-11, Watson-6-4, Simpson 5-11, Davis 6-10

Simpson's looks generously listed 5-11 but Teske looks like a legit 7 footer.

I am at a wedding reception and the speeches have been going for over a half hour. This is just way too much. People are bored, hungry, and thirsty. Let's go.

With Wilson's move to the 4, either Teske or Davis will be needed this year.  Teske's shot-blocking should translate more immediately.

3 of these guys will play significant roles on next year's team.

Simpson is tiny but talented. He should be an excellent back up and then a 4-year contributor.

Watson's getting slept on but will be needed immediately.  Next in the Caris-Nik-THJ lineage.

Teske/Davis are both legit big men. No more 4s masquerading at 5.  Shot-blocking, finishing, screen-setting, rebounding -- what this team needs.

There was a bit of a learning curve for Wagner last season and his quick fouls often sent him right back to the bench. But I like his length and athleticism and think he makes significant strides this year.

Based on a small sample size and flimsy film evidence I still like Wagner over the incoming freshmen bigs, for now.

I agree. First and foremost I want a center that can bang and at the very least out-rebound our PG. We've been slaughtered in the paint and on the boards far too much recently.

I wouldn't rule any of the legit bigs out at this point but I'm leaning Wagner based mostly on a year in Beilein's system and potential (sure hope he bulks up). I don't think Donnal or Wilson belong at the 5, ever, so if Teske or Davis show they're ready to play, by all means.

All I can say is that, at all of 5'9", I know exactly how Simpson might feel in that photo. I have been the shortest person on a few teams in my day, although family events make me feel substantially better as I am on the taller end of those photos.

In all seriousness though, a nice hearty "Welcome To Michigan" for them all.
