next year
September 4th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
Barring two very sub par years under Hoke. All they need is 8 total this year and 8 next and they're there.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Yep. Drinks on me that night.
September 5th, 2011 at 12:08 AM ^
I will split that tab with you.
September 5th, 2011 at 12:15 AM ^
I'll take one bottle of British Royal Navy Imperial Rum. Thanks man!
September 5th, 2011 at 12:48 AM ^
I guess I'll just stick with tap water that night.
September 5th, 2011 at 1:15 AM ^
Go for Fiji.
September 5th, 2011 at 1:23 AM ^
Go for Perrier. Live it up like it is 1985.
September 5th, 2011 at 1:29 AM ^
Whoa. Take it easy high roller. Perrier is way to rich for anybody's blood. They get that water from fresh water springs of the Pyrenees Mountains in Andorra. You literally piss liquid gold after downing a 20 liter of that stuff.
September 5th, 2011 at 1:35 AM ^
Although pissing gold > pissing diamonds.
September 5th, 2011 at 2:54 AM ^
Give some to Hoke! I wonder what he would make out of it.
September 5th, 2011 at 10:50 AM ^
Make mine a bottle of Henri IV Dudognon Heritage Cognac. If you bargain correctly, you can get it for a little under $2 million.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
In 15 games.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
against Air Force on Sept. 8, 2012.
September 5th, 2011 at 12:08 AM ^
That's my prediction. Lock it in!
September 4th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
Well, if Hoke can win a game in 3 quarters, than 15 games times 3 quarters is 45 quarters... 45 quarters divided by 4 quarters per game is... A little more than 11 games?
MORE RUM NOW
September 4th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
The new math?
September 4th, 2011 at 11:47 PM ^
Like the Hoke math
September 4th, 2011 at 11:37 PM ^
I'm more worried about the best winning percentage. It has dropped .010% in the last seven years, and made us only .002% higher than Notre Dame. We'll easily be the first to 900; I just hope we will still be the winningest program by percentage when we get there as well.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
increasing that margin come Saturday.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:42 PM ^
We actually only overtook ND for the winning percentage lead around 2003 or 2004. For a long time, they held that distinction while we held it for wins. Our lead in the win-percentage race has always been precarious.
September 5th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
It was 2004. I remember it well. We actually had the chance to overtake them in winning percentage by beating them head to head in that year's game. But a crappy ND team beat us 28-20 in South Bend. (Couldn't be too hard on the team. Henne was a freshman and he was thrown into the starting spot the week before right after the Matt Gutierrez injury and this was his first road game.)
After that game, we kept winning and Notre Dame kept losing. A couple weeks later, after ND lost to Boston College, we officially overtook them in winning % and we have had it ever since.
September 5th, 2011 at 9:02 AM ^
Let's suppose Ohio vacates a few wins. How does that impact the "official" win percentage?
September 5th, 2011 at 9:18 AM ^
Not at all, except it will drop theirs. We still lost those games, they just didn't win them. By the way, they will drop behind both PSU and Oklahoma in all time wins, and their percentage will take a hit with that 0-1 season.
September 5th, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
Watch out for Texas. They are catching up on all time wins. They've already passed ND on the all time wins list.
If they stay in a seriously diluted Big12, they'll get 11-12 wins every year. 'Course, if they go to the Pac 6000, it will reign them in some.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
It better be next year.
Here are the milestone victories going by 100 so far:
*Win #100: October 5, 1901 - Beat Case 57-0
*Win #200: October 9, 1915 - Beat Mt. Union 35-0
*Win #300: October 1, 1932 - Beat Michigan State 26-0
*Win #400: October 23, 1948 - Beat Minnesota 27-14
*Win #500: November 11, 1967 - Beat Illinois 21-14
*Win #600: October 21, 1978 - Beat Wisconsin 42-0
*Win #700: November 4, 1989 - Beat Purdue 42-27
*Win #800: September 30, 2000 - Beat Wisconsin 13-10
September 5th, 2011 at 12:47 AM ^
Since the 500th win, it has been every 11 years. So that means win # 1,000 will be in 2022!
Jesus H. Christ on a crutch, I'll be old. 38. Yikes. At least it will be something to get me through my mid-life crisis. That and a motorcycle.
September 5th, 2011 at 1:19 AM ^
I'll be an old fart at 59 in 2022. At least I'll be 3 to 5 years from retirement and will be able to purchase season tickets again!
September 5th, 2011 at 6:28 AM ^
In 2022, I'll be 44 with two kids about to graduate from high school (Michigan recruiting classes of 2024 and 2025, although the football team will need to allow girls in for 2024 - she's already expressed a preference for being on defense).
September 5th, 2011 at 8:20 AM ^
the water is freezing.
September 5th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
And if I'm lucky, I'll make it to 900. Hope it's at home,
September 5th, 2011 at 12:09 AM ^
I think we'll win 9 games this year so my prediction is Oct 20, 2011 (vs. Michigan St.)

September 5th, 2011 at 12:30 AM ^
I'd like to see 1000 wins in my lifetime...preferably before I am 40.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:08 AM ^
I really don't think it will happen in March
September 5th, 2011 at 9:17 AM ^
Oh wait, maybe that is not what the "March to 900 wins" means.
September 5th, 2011 at 9:28 AM ^
I can see it happening next year. The schedule gets a little tougher next year, but I also think the team will be very good next year after a solid first year under Hoke and Co. Plus the incoming class of 2012 will help get the program to 900 in 2012
September 5th, 2011 at 9:40 AM ^
but I predict that it will have to happen in the future.....I see no scenario where 900 wins happens in the past
September 5th, 2011 at 10:25 AM ^
I'm definitely going to try to make it to win #1000 no matter where it is. Ill probably have to plan a few game window to make it to the 1,000th win. Since well be going 14-0 every year starting next year itll be in 2018!
September 5th, 2011 at 10:57 AM ^
Why no 14-0 this year?
September 5th, 2011 at 10:39 AM ^
my predictionb
September 5th, 2011 at 10:56 AM ^
Question is... do you guys think we'll hit 1000 first??
September 5th, 2011 at 11:14 AM ^
Have we always lead in the "most wins" category or is that a more recent thing like the win percentage? I guess what I really want to know is where we the first to all the other major marks 100, 200, etc?
September 5th, 2011 at 11:56 AM ^
We've led in total wins since at least the 1970s.
We most likely were not the first school to reach 100 or 200 wins, because some of the Eastern schools started playing before us and we weren't immediately successful. But given Yost's huge success, we must have caught up quickly.
September 5th, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
It wasn't that many years ago we became #1 of all college football teams, regardless of division. Because we've kept winning, and others haven't.
September 5th, 2011 at 11:38 AM ^
I will make t-shirts that say "We Have More Wins Than You" with a big 900 under it.
