Mel Tucker to Oklahoma. Purely speculative.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
What is Oklahoma going to do? They are high and dry. Joe Brady maybe, as there is plenty of talk of firing him at Carolina?
There had been talk there was strain between Riley and behind the scenes at Oklahoma. Maybe it was true. I know fans were beginning to call for his head. Man, they may end up regretting all that!
Be careful what you wish for.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
I wonder if they coax Bob Stoops out of retirement to steady the ship for a season while they sort out a new head coach for the future. All the good candidates have basically stayed put (besides Riley lol), and Oklahoma is no longer the de facto top of the Big XII they have been, and they have a brutal migration to the SEC coming up. Them and Texas are basically on the verge of being middle of the conference teams for the next few years.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
There’s talk of Bob Stoops coming back. I’m thinking Mark Stoops or Josh Heupel.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:29 PM ^
Not sure why Mark Stoops would want to move from the SEC East to the SEC West where OK would most likely be put. He’s built a good program there at UK and with basketball being life in Kentucky there isn’t insane pressure on him.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
I am not so sure Texas & Oklahoma become just middle-of-the-roaders in the SEC. One of the reasons A&M became more prominent in Texas over the years was because they could tell recruits "come play in the SEC". With Aggies & Sooners joining that advantage evaporates.

I like your dog!!!
November 29th, 2021 at 12:27 AM ^
Thank you much. That is the late great Murphy, chillest Golden ever.
The current canine opening is held by Rony the terrier-ist. I have yet to decide how long I will continue to honor Murphy's memory. It's been about 4.5 years now and the loss is still raw.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:15 PM ^
Sounds like Stoops will coach the bowl game but they are interested in Klingsbury who’s with the Arizona cardinals right now
November 28th, 2021 at 6:36 PM ^
This is why Riley made a smart move. He has a huge recruiting advantage now and he can easily win the Pac12 and get to the playoffs. With Bama, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, and all the others, it’s just too difficult to get to the championship. Oklahoma and Texas actually screwed themselves by going to the SEC. Who really wants those jobs now.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:18 PM ^
Texas has been pretty meh even in the B12. So for them, maybe the can sell Texas and come play in the SEC and improve.
I think you are spot on with Oklahoma. To me, this seems like a really bad move for them. In the B12 they could sell recruits on coming as they were often in the CFP picture. I don't see that continuing.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:50 PM ^
Adam Schefter is reporting that Kliff Kingsbury is a candidate.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:14 PM ^
Chris Peterson to Oklahoma?
November 28th, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
That makes his statement yesterday pretty duplicitous, even if it wasn’t an outright lie.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:20 PM ^
What was his statement yesterday?
November 28th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
That he would not be the next coach at LSU. Technically correct! #HermesConrad
November 28th, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
I don't it's stretching to call it a lie. Which is nuts, unless he did it to extract last-minute leverage over SC. In which case, more evidence that he's a real jerk. I think clear to say he did not spend all of last week prepping for Bedlam.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
To be fair he was talking about LSU.
And it looks like the $12 million from LSU might be true, as I just read a pretty reputable guy, that said he did hear about the $12 million.
I also read today that USC might be paying Riley $12 million.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:20 PM ^
LSU and PSU fans sick right now.
LSU really thought they had him in the bag. PSU has to keep Franklin.
Didn’t really see USC coming tho.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:28 PM ^
USC did ?✌️
November 28th, 2021 at 5:21 PM ^
How are you a USC and Michigan fan simultaneously given the history?
November 29th, 2021 at 2:35 AM ^
Well…I went to Michigan, so I am a Michigan fan first, but live in LA and married into a USC family with 8 tickets to USC Games. Since I love college football, thought it made sense to continue to go to college football games. Been going since Peter Carroll’s first year.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:34 PM ^
Not only are LSU & PSU fans sick....add Oklahoma fans to the mix.
Coaching salaries are going up again.
Michigan got a deal with Harbaugh, but, in the long run, his contract will work out for both sides.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:35 PM ^
Franklin signed a 10 year extension a few day ago
November 28th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
Yes, that's why PSU fans are sick. Heard from a few sources that they quietly wanted him to leave.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:40 PM ^
So how long will that stay quiet? I'll ask this now, before it gets real loud in about 2 years: what is his buyout?
November 28th, 2021 at 5:05 PM ^
Keeping a coach for ten years now days is pretty rare.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
Again, that's why PSU fans are sick. Sparty fans though, may be happy with their 10-year guy, but I don't know why at this time.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:29 PM ^
Because he's 2-0 against Michigan and that's all they care about. One of my favorite things about beating OSU yesterday is sparty fans chiming in about beating Michigan as if any Michigan fan gave a shit about MSU in that moment.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:21 PM ^
It’s happening a few posts down too. Big day for Riley
November 28th, 2021 at 4:21 PM ^
Hmm…I’d rather USC continue to suck. But I will root for him hardcore when they play Notre Dame.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
Lincoln Riley in California is going to be a real big problem for everyone. Which may include us with a few recruits this year.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
Agreed, he already had two five stars and a 4 star from CA lined up for Oklahoma's 2023 class. Presumably, those kids will be staying closer to home.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:31 PM ^
Ouch, true
November 28th, 2021 at 4:34 PM ^
Just came across this:
Does this put a new wrinkle on Domani Jackson's decisions?
November 28th, 2021 at 6:10 PM ^
must buy USC as a viable path to the NFL
This is hysterical considering Riley's track record and the fact that Sam Darnold went third overall three years ago.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:41 PM ^
yes, we’ve never seen what lincoln riley could do with resources and a brand name. just laboring in obscurity at oklahoma.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
He could just ask Daxton Hill why he wanted nothing to do with playing defense for Lincoln Riley.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
ESPN is reporting this, too. It seems like a good move for Riley. Life won't get any easier in the SEC and USC has intermittently (like now) been a sleeping giant.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:59 PM ^
Should be able to recruit as well or better than at LSU and definitely OU. Meanwhile has to go against juggernauts like Utah and Washington instead of SEC.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:07 PM ^
Utah is pretty good. As it stands now, they are going to beat Ohio St. They are too physical for Ryan Day's psyche.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
Utah is a good team, but the point isn't lost. The top of the Pac12 is considerably less scary than the top of the SEC.
November 28th, 2021 at 7:05 PM ^
Utah would be Arkansas in SEC.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
No chance that guy was gonna get wrecked in the SEC.
Now moves to an (even easier) league to win.
Boss Move if you ask me.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
LOL. He has it made at Oklahoma. The SEC would be harder, but that's still a few years off. Maybe he likes a challenge?
November 28th, 2021 at 4:32 PM ^
A challenge?…in 2-3 years USC is going to be a monster again. He traded in a Raptor for a Lambo. Just needs to be dusted off. Having it made is living in Manhattan Beach and coaching USC when it is signing top 5 recruiting classes every year.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:49 PM ^
Yep, and with the transfer portal and Jaxson Dart at QB, it might not take that long.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:52 PM ^
It looks pretty much like both Kyle McCord and Quinn Ewers are going to enter the transfer portal. Though Ryan Day may attempt back flips to keep Ewers.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:59 PM ^
Where’d you see this?
