A little entertainment for Monday after the MSU beatdown

This meme just makes me laugh because it's so versatile. Anyway, here's the post Paul Bunyan game version for y'all.

The jokes about rival fans working at fast food places or delivering pizza are so stupid and cliché. They are also disrespectful to the people in those professions. I don't know about anyone else, but I appreciate those employees. Without them, I don't have my delicious pizza or chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A.

It's one of the worst memes. I didn't get how the original came about. I looked it up, and they're completely unrelated. The women screaming are from some shitty reality show, and the other photo is just some random cat sitting at a dining table. They have nothing to do with each other.

Also agreed on the making fun of people in the service industry. It's always been lame. Not to mention State is actually a good university. It's too bad their athletic department is an absolute cesspool.

So, you're saying everyone who works those professions are under achieving. Again, that is disrespectful. Also, I'm not talking about being politically correct (being a conservative, I hate that crap). That has nothing to do with disrespecting people who work at fast food places and the like.

Judging by the line around the block at the one near my house, I have to agree with you. They opened there a few months ago and now I won’t go down that street because of the traffic (Sunday excepted of course.)

My absolutely true MSU story is as follows.  Back in the 70's I went to Cranbrook and studying wasnt really my "thing".  Hence I graduated with something like a 1.8 GPA and a 1460 SAT score.  I only applied to Michigan, Michigan State and CMU and was confident I'd get into Michigan based on the SAT number.

Well after a bit of time I got two pieces of mail on the same day from Michigan (a very thin letter) and Michigan State (a very thick packet).  Inside the Michigan envelope was a short letter letting me know i had been denied fall entry due to my poor GPA and inside the MSU packet was an offer for a full academic scholly because of my SAT score.   You have no idea how much I wish I had saved both and framed them as they were dated the same day and both were on school letterhead.

End of the story is my BF was going to CMU so I ended up going there for my Freshman year in 78, got my GPA up to a 3.5 and then transferred to Michigan as a Sophomore and graduated in 81.

A couple of points:

So what if Michigan has higher admission standards--and I believe UM was pretty actively seeking out of state students and those outside the US as well. Good on them--bring people into the state, educate them, and hope they stay (hell, Michigan is a little more cosmopolitan than Alabama and Mississippi so good for this)

ALSO: Lots of us looked at MSU as a more viable option in that day due to costs and also types of majors.

Good for Michigan to have so many outstanding academic institutions, which, outside the comfy confines of a message board echo chamber, is well know.

Not to mention your story is probably bullshit.

AND--I couldn't qualify for either one, SO THERE.

I can assure you it is absolutely NOT bullshit, it's 100% true.  Like I said - I wish i kept the letters for posterity - they would be framed and in my office.

And with my dad, brother, sister, three uncles, three aunt's, and both grandfathers all being Michigan grads attending State didnt seem like a great option at the time.

Like criminal justice and packing?

Ummm.  OK.

The only reason, from a programs perspective, to go to Staee over U of M is for something ag-related or for vet school.

Y'all forgot that Sparty has rules on who can be fans of certain teams. Or as my buddy who is not a UM grad but is a fan says when people give him grief - I'm a Red Wings fan but I didn't go to Red Wings University. Is that ok?

If you spent more time in discussions here rather than trolling, you'd see  I think the people on this board are pretty transparent when they are only fans rather than alumni.

What you're confused about is the average Sharty who says, "hey brah, I totally got accepted to Michigan but all my friends decided to go to State so I did too."

I have been a Michigan fan since I was old enough to watch the games.  I didn't attend the university, but I don't wear an orange jumpsuit.  No, my uniform is more of an Air Force blue, and I've worn it with pride for over 16 years now.  Does this make me a poser?  I mean, AF is in my username.  Please, tell me if I am still allowed to root for the team I have loved for over 30 years!

I gotta disagree with you here Rgard. I used to be on the “there’s good people that go to MSU” team but I have to say after the last few years of allegations, criminal activity, coverups and wagon-circling, victim-blaming and everything else that’s gone on at the highest levels in that place, I would have to say if you still choose to take pride in MSU or anything having to with the school you are in fact an idiot. Again, years ago would not have said that as I have family and friends who are Spartans but f@$k MSU and everything associated with it.  It’s a trash school and you are trash if you support it. Maybe if they flush the garbage out of the leadership and start fresh I’ll change my tune.

Most succinctly righteous comment in a long time.
