I don't get it - should I?

This meme applied to MSU grad working at fast food restaurant. not that funny.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:43 PM ^
The jokes about rival fans working at fast food places or delivering pizza are so stupid and cliché. They are also disrespectful to the people in those professions. I don't know about anyone else, but I appreciate those employees. Without them, I don't have my delicious pizza or chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:56 PM ^
I agree. All in all pretty lame.
Also the whole throw a cat in a meme to make it funny is lost on me.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:18 PM ^
You're not the only one. I saw absolutely no humor in the meme.
November 19th, 2019 at 12:30 AM ^
It's one of the worst memes. I didn't get how the original came about. I looked it up, and they're completely unrelated. The women screaming are from some shitty reality show, and the other photo is just some random cat sitting at a dining table. They have nothing to do with each other.
Also agreed on the making fun of people in the service industry. It's always been lame. Not to mention State is actually a good university. It's too bad their athletic department is an absolute cesspool.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:01 PM ^
Me too! I don't think any of them would be stupid enough to go to Michigan State
November 18th, 2019 at 2:43 PM ^
Do we always have to be politically correct? It simply means those MSU grad types are often under achieving. Whether it's really true or not, doesn't matter.
Laugh a little and don't take life so seriously.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
So, you're saying everyone who works those professions are under achieving. Again, that is disrespectful. Also, I'm not talking about being politically correct (being a conservative, I hate that crap). That has nothing to do with disrespecting people who work at fast food places and the like.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
It's not disrespecting those who work in Fast Food or Pizza Delivery. It's disrespecting the MSU grad.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
Chickfila is a mediocre fast food place.
Otherwise I agree with your sentiment.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
You're crazy for saying Chick-fil-A is mediocre. They have the best fried chicken out of the fast food restaurants.
November 18th, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
Judging by the line around the block at the one near my house, I have to agree with you. They opened there a few months ago and now I won’t go down that street because of the traffic (Sunday excepted of course.)
November 18th, 2019 at 1:25 PM ^
Idk this meme makes me crack up every time. The cat makes it.
November 18th, 2019 at 11:54 AM ^
Left picture is a pretty accurate description of what a Sparty Whoo girl turns into in her 40's.
November 18th, 2019 at 11:55 AM ^
Did anyone tell ThePonyConqueror?
November 18th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
Ooooo, it's ThePonyStalker! Sniff any Spartan panties this weekend?
November 18th, 2019 at 11:55 AM ^
I didn’t laugh. ?♂️
November 18th, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
LOL hilarious!
November 18th, 2019 at 11:57 AM ^
I think this is a better use of that meme
November 18th, 2019 at 12:02 PM ^
You need to add “been” in between “It’s” and “over”.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:33 PM ^
This is SIGNIFICANTLY better than OP, good job!

My absolutely true MSU story is as follows. Back in the 70's I went to Cranbrook and studying wasnt really my "thing". Hence I graduated with something like a 1.8 GPA and a 1460 SAT score. I only applied to Michigan, Michigan State and CMU and was confident I'd get into Michigan based on the SAT number.
Well after a bit of time I got two pieces of mail on the same day from Michigan (a very thin letter) and Michigan State (a very thick packet). Inside the Michigan envelope was a short letter letting me know i had been denied fall entry due to my poor GPA and inside the MSU packet was an offer for a full academic scholly because of my SAT score. You have no idea how much I wish I had saved both and framed them as they were dated the same day and both were on school letterhead.
End of the story is my BF was going to CMU so I ended up going there for my Freshman year in 78, got my GPA up to a 3.5 and then transferred to Michigan as a Sophomore and graduated in 81.

Imagine if you'd taken the scholarship to MSU.
Nightmare Fuel.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
He clearly made the right decision from a financial standpoint
November 18th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
A couple of points:
So what if Michigan has higher admission standards--and I believe UM was pretty actively seeking out of state students and those outside the US as well. Good on them--bring people into the state, educate them, and hope they stay (hell, Michigan is a little more cosmopolitan than Alabama and Mississippi so good for this)
ALSO: Lots of us looked at MSU as a more viable option in that day due to costs and also types of majors.
Good for Michigan to have so many outstanding academic institutions, which, outside the comfy confines of a message board echo chamber, is well know.
Not to mention your story is probably bullshit.
AND--I couldn't qualify for either one, SO THERE.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
I can assure you it is absolutely NOT bullshit, it's 100% true. Like I said - I wish i kept the letters for posterity - they would be framed and in my office.
And with my dad, brother, sister, three uncles, three aunt's, and both grandfathers all being Michigan grads attending State didnt seem like a great option at the time.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:28 PM ^
How could you not qualify for MSU?
November 18th, 2019 at 1:08 PM ^
Agreed, he was obviously breathing.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:10 PM ^
You have to be able to open the door to your MSU dorm, but they allow you to have a cheat sheet.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:31 PM ^
ALSO: Lots of us looked at MSU as a more viable option in that day due to costs and also types of majors.
Like criminal justice and packing?
Ummm. OK.
The only reason, from a programs perspective, to go to Staee over U of M is for something ag-related or for vet school.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:41 PM ^
Or to try to be cool on a Michigan message board. I do, and have always, suspected that about 1 of 20 posers here actually did go to Michigan, and most of those in an orange jumpsuit to help clean up the stadium after a game.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
Show us on the doll where the wolverine touched you.
November 18th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
audible laughter at this one. all-world snark. ty.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
It's a Michigan sports fan board, not a class reunion. A lot of people on the board are upfront about having not attended if it comes up.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:51 PM ^
Maybe you'd like us all to post pics of our diplomas to assuage your concerns?
At least then you would know what a Michigan diploma looks like.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:43 PM ^
Or I could post my W2 from the past 10 years. I think that would would be sufficient evidence that I have a degree from Michigan, not MSU.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:52 PM ^
"I'm richer than an MSU grad, and I'll post my W-2 to prove it" is some thirsty internet bullshit, lol.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:06 PM ^
Y'all forgot that Sparty has rules on who can be fans of certain teams. Or as my buddy who is not a UM grad but is a fan says when people give him grief - I'm a Red Wings fan but I didn't go to Red Wings University. Is that ok?
November 18th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
It may shock you to learn that a lot of MSU users/posters ALSO didn't attend that school.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
If you spent more time in discussions here rather than trolling, you'd see I think the people on this board are pretty transparent when they are only fans rather than alumni.
What you're confused about is the average Sharty who says, "hey brah, I totally got accepted to Michigan but all my friends decided to go to State so I did too."
November 18th, 2019 at 9:07 PM ^
I have been a Michigan fan since I was old enough to watch the games. I didn't attend the university, but I don't wear an orange jumpsuit. No, my uniform is more of an Air Force blue, and I've worn it with pride for over 16 years now. Does this make me a poser? I mean, AF is in my username. Please, tell me if I am still allowed to root for the team I have loved for over 30 years!
November 18th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
You were doing fine with that comment until you called MGrowOld a liar.
Reality is that the effort the student puts in while at university is more important than which university the person is attending.
November 18th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
I gotta disagree with you here Rgard. I used to be on the “there’s good people that go to MSU” team but I have to say after the last few years of allegations, criminal activity, coverups and wagon-circling, victim-blaming and everything else that’s gone on at the highest levels in that place, I would have to say if you still choose to take pride in MSU or anything having to with the school you are in fact an idiot. Again, years ago would not have said that as I have family and friends who are Spartans but f@$k MSU and everything associated with it. It’s a trash school and you are trash if you support it. Maybe if they flush the garbage out of the leadership and start fresh I’ll change my tune.

+1
Most succinctly righteous comment in a long time.

Good thing your boyfriend went to CMU or who knows how low you could have fallen.
I kinda suspect this whole story was to make sure people know you went to Cranbrook.
