Likely Jersey Number for UM freshman QB Denard Robinson
Looking at the UM football roster for 2009, there's always some doubling up of jersey numbers. For example, QB Tate Forcier wears No. 5 on offense and DB Vlad Emilien wears No. 5 on defense.
These are the available "quarterback jersey numbers" available to incoming freshman QB Denard Robinson:
No. 1
(Personally I'd love to see a QB wear this number, but I know this is a sore subject for many fellow UM fans because of the Braylon Edwards scholarship and short-term memory issues.)
No. 6
Donovan Warren wears No. 6 on defense. That leaves an offensive player with an opportunity to wear it.
No. 10
Steven Threet left. This number appears to be available for an offensive and defensive player in 2009.
No. 14
Of course, Morgan Trent graduated. Number appears to be available for an offensive and defensive player in 2009.
No. 19
Zac Combs has it for FS position. Leaves open opportunity for an offensive player. If Mr. Jason Forcier comes back, maybe he'd like it back?
Personally I'd love to see Denard wear No. 1.
But I believe it will be No. 10 or No. 6.
Thoughts?
should be 0.76 which is of course his 40 time.
Double Zero.
The Eric Montross scholarship fund prohibits double zero from being worn by any non-gumpy athletes
1 would be sick and fits D Rob perfectly, but since that's not gunna happen. What about 0 so people behind him know they have zero chance of catching him or 6 the number that represents the points he just burned you for, if your able to see through the dust while pulling up your pants.
10
He's so fast that they'll give him 10 for TDs.
he could also get 11 no one has it as of know and also 17 with tony clemons leaving.
i am guessing he goes with 14
The number 11 is retired (as are 47, 48, 87 and 98).
I was just looking throuhg the spring roster and had forgot about the Wistert brothers
(Personally I'd love to see a QB wear this number, but I know this is a sore subject for many fellow UM fans because of the Braylon Edwards scholarship and short-term memory issues.)
Huh? I don't believe any QB has ever worn #1. For the past 30 seasons, it's been worn exclusively by WRs.
It's been mainly worn by a WR since Anthony Carter 1979-1982, however.

Harry Kipke (HB): 1923
Dave Whiteford (DB): 1973-75
Gregg Willner (K): 1976-78
Chris Grieves (WR): 1977
Anthony Carter (WR): 1979-82
Greg McMurtry (WR): 1986-89
Derrick Alexander (WR): 1990-93
Tyrone Butterfield (WR): 1994-96
David Terrell (WR): 1998-00

He's so fast you won't be able to see what number he is anyway.
PS, after significant technical difficulties regarding usernames, passwords and mysteriously unreceived emails from Brian, I'm happy to say this is my first post.
Glad to be here and looking forward to participating in the dialogue.
But I've seen a lot of 10's for sale in stores. FWIW.
Why not just a lightning bolt?
Makes sense unless one of the other Robinson's nab it

If a player actually runs π in the 40 yard dash, does that unravel the universe?

To anyone who hoped to be the 10,000th visitor to this page (?!!!), according to the loud, flashing tower ad on my left, I beat you to it.

does everybody here read it and keeps knowingly referencing it in threads, or are the references unknown and I'm just a geek?

But has any WR on the current roster actually earned the right to wear the sacred #1 jersey under the "Braylon Rules?"
I know the QB-ing made the WR's look mediocre last year, but I really don't see anyone stepping out and seperating himself from the rest of the field.

Signs that people are desperate for a football season that is nearly four months away:
#427: A thread about an incoming freshman's likely jersey number garners about 30 replies.
He is so fast he can catch his own deep bombs. He will be Michigan's next best QB-WR combo by himself.
I'd be all in on Denard wearing 10.
That is all.
Why?

Well, in part because if Denard is ever going to play defense as occasionally speculated, having a number worn by a defensive player such as 6 is out of the question.
