Late afternoon/evening games Open Thread
Couple of afternoon games are still finishing up and then two of our rivals play what should be interesting games this evening. In Knoxville, Tennessee has just tied Georgia 24-24 in the 4th. And Okie St. just jumped back in front of Kansas St by 1 late in the game.

If they have time NU QB's will find always someone.

Mark just blew up a Lb (Brown) from Ohio... WOW

NW offense is fun to watch as long as you dont play them. Not sure the status of their OC but he can do some things with "lesser" talent via scheme.

Wildcats looking good. Great play calls.

Woooo
October 5th, 2013 at 8:55 PM ^
wow so easy. Going to be a nightmare offense to face.

That drive was pretty badass given what had just happened. A tiny, horrible part of me wants OSU to win so NW has a loss.

Arizona St has outplayed but is now losing because they settle for field goals and they can't get to Rees on blitzes.

they usually do.
So it's gonna be a shootout.
Also, might Guiton be better than Miller?
October 5th, 2013 at 8:58 PM ^
Yes on the Guiton IMO as long as Miller isn't running at 100%. And he's not.
October 5th, 2013 at 8:58 PM ^
The division thing aside, it is heart-warming to see Northwestern go full "f*ck you" on these plays, particularly close to the end zone. In any case, the Wildcasts are currently getting about six yars per snap right now against the Buckeyes.

Sounds like OSU D is running around panicing.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:02 PM ^
ASU wide out just had an absolutely nasty catch on the sidelines that was called out of bounds. I think it was at least worth a review. Either way that was a great catch

Purpose running Braxton Miller is going to get him killed. He's fragile as is, recovering from an injury and I guess Urban has a lot of confidence in Guiton once he gets Miller broken again.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:03 PM ^
You can always tell when Urban gets nervous. He makes Miller start to carry the load more than he should.

ASU TD on 4th down. 13-7 Sun Devils
October 5th, 2013 at 9:04 PM ^
Even Miller can hit that with that much time.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:05 PM ^
Hyde is strong. I want Green to be that strong.

I agree. I'm impatient for that day though.

NW has the toughest schedule of anyone in our division of the contenders - both Wiscy and OSU. We have the 2nd toughest with OSU. Neb and MSU have the easiest, avoiding OSU and Wiscy. If NW wins the divison they will have EARNED it big time. I dont see it but this is why I am ok with them beating OSU tonight... they still have Wiscy, UM, MSU and Neb after this one.

Brian Kelly: still a dick to everyone.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:08 PM ^
I'm getting more into this game than I expected. I'm actively rooting for Northwestern. I just want Ohio to get shit on. I maintain my belief that Guiton is absolutely the better option for Ohio. Their strength on offense is the number of athletes they have and Guiton is better at getting it into their hands. I'll be fine with them not figuring this out, though. As far as Northwestern, I predict another shootout when we play them. Their weakness on defense is definitely their Dline which will hide any Oline problems we have at that point (hopefully none), but their offense is very legit.

Brian Kelly rage makes me happy

Urban looks like his chest might be hurting.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:11 PM ^
Holding OSU to FGs is how you pull off the upset. NW is on their way if they can keep it up on the redzone D

WILDCATS!
October 5th, 2013 at 9:12 PM ^
heh...looks like NU was sandbagging against Maine afterall.

Most def. Yet I'm still really interested in if NU can hold up into the 2nd half against the size of OSU. They haven't played a team this talented yet. Well, that goes for both teams I guess.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:16 PM ^
Yardage plays interspersed. Our Big Ten prime time game has much better consistency.

Kind of strange that ND and ASU are playing at a neutral site.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:17 PM ^
Let's go Wildcats!
October 5th, 2013 at 9:17 PM ^
I am such a huge Pat Fitzgerald fan. Even if NW loses to Ohio tonight, what he's been able to do over there is really impressive.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:19 PM ^
I'm guessing you don't remember is douchey behavior on the sideline last year.

October 5th, 2013 at 9:17 PM ^
meh...kick the FG
October 5th, 2013 at 9:18 PM ^
NW off vs MSU defense will also be interesting.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:20 PM ^
Seems Brent is going a bit overboard on trying to keep neutral despite his NU past. Too much OSU celebrating from him IMO.
October 5th, 2013 at 9:21 PM ^
Don't give up a TD on this drive. Play smart D NU>
October 5th, 2013 at 9:23 PM ^
Holy Moley NU gonna get the ball back. Play punt safe.
