Late afternoon/evening games Open Thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Couple of afternoon games are still finishing up and then two of our rivals play what should be interesting games this evening. In Knoxville, Tennessee has just tied Georgia 24-24 in the 4th. And Okie St. just jumped back in front of Kansas St by 1 late in the game.

NW offense is fun to watch as long as you dont play them.  Not sure the status of their OC but he can do some things with "lesser" talent via scheme.

The division thing aside, it is heart-warming to see Northwestern go full "f*ck you" on these plays, particularly close to the end zone. In any case, the Wildcasts are currently getting about six yars per snap right now against the Buckeyes.

ASU wide out just had an absolutely nasty catch on the sidelines that was called out of bounds. I think it was at least worth a review. Either way that was a great catch

Purpose running Braxton Miller is going to get him killed. He's fragile as is, recovering from an injury and I guess Urban has a lot of confidence in Guiton once he gets Miller broken again.

NW has the toughest schedule of anyone in our division of the contenders - both Wiscy and OSU.  We have the 2nd toughest with OSU. Neb and MSU have the easiest, avoiding OSU and Wiscy.  If NW wins the divison they will have EARNED it big time.  I dont see it but this is why I am ok with them beating OSU tonight... they still have Wiscy, UM, MSU and Neb after this one.

I'm getting more into this game than I expected.  I'm actively rooting for Northwestern.  I just want Ohio to get shit on.  I maintain my belief that Guiton is absolutely the better option for Ohio.  Their strength on offense is the number of athletes they have and Guiton is better at getting it into their hands.  I'll be fine with them not figuring this out, though.  As far as Northwestern, I predict another shootout when we play them.  Their weakness on defense is definitely their Dline which will hide any Oline problems we have at that point (hopefully none), but their offense is very legit.

Northwestern is just killing Ohio right now. If it weren't for that huge play against them this would look one sided

ASU is playing like a bunch of schoolgirls. Also Northwestern is going to torch Michigan.

It's nothing new. Randy Walker was doing one heck of a job before he passed. Gary Barnett also had them as a solid program. Not to discredit Fitzgerald but Northwestern can be a good program, Walker had it rolling nice to see Pat bring it back. Now he has to take it to the next level and go to the Rose bowl like they did.
