Labor Day Weekend - What're You Drinking and What're Your Plans

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

It is past 5:00 so everyone who is out of work can start drinking now.  For those that are still hung over from last night, have some hair of the dog that bit you.   Its also Labor Day weekend and the unofficial last weekend of summer.

Some of the kids have just hand-picked sweet corn from the field - its heirloom, organic, non-GMO, yada yada.  Should go well with salmon.  Mgowife wants to add salmon-raising capability to our pond on the farm to raise them here.  Great idea, but the logistics of permits, digging the pond out and making sure the creek flows into it just so, filters, and keeping the bears out seem to be insurmountable.

So what are you drinking and what are you doing this holiday weekend.

whatever it is, be safe and have fun.

Going camping and rafting in Grand County, CO. I'll be drinking lots of Coors Light and likely swigging from some plastic bottle of shitty whiskey.

Also this weekend, I'm going to try and craft a coozy and piece of string into a beer-holder-necklace. Wish me luck.

Heading to drag racing nationals in Indy tomorrow. Going to the Auburn auction on Sunday. Not drinking alcohol because I am battling a cold that has me drained.

Per the guidelines that were posted, Friday and Saturday drinking threads - especially because they are semi-associated with football and quasi-traditional - are allowed. It was the midweek random ones which were given the axe, although if you had just ingested something which is absolutely amazing and the board needs to know, use your best judgment (if possible, depending on the beverage).

Went to Boston (my first time, then drove out to cape cod). Highly recommend. I was impressed with the beaches and nice small towns with great dining (Chatam) and MV. laying low this wknd.

Actually going to be researching some stocks.Given the discounts we've seen from all time highs over the last month or so. Have been on the sideline awhile.  Have had Apple for over a year and bought TGT after the credit card-data breach last year. Other than that just have regular work 401k with mutual funds.

anyonelse thinking about buying? or currently selling?

As far as drinks. Bought some Four Roses Bourbon and Caribe (Trinidad & Tobago Lager) a couple weeks ago that I want to finish off over the weekend. The wife and I are going on this advocare diet. No booze for 24days amongst other things. Who knows, if UM goes on a run I might have to quit booze until they lose again.

I've been drinking bourbon and not your father's root beer. Not at the same time. Headed to my parent's tomorrow to help close up their place for the summer. Then prepping for A2 next weekend. Can't wait to welcome the youngsters back for the home opener.

Hit the local bar for an assortment of San Tan Brewing offerings in Chandler, AZ. After the short trip from Utah this morning...will likely get into some bourbon and cheering on Western. Very good showing from our fans in Utah...nice fans there...I wore my "Worst State Ever" and got tons of compliments. Interesting group there as they hate Urban and Ohio State because he left them and other s still love him for what he did there. Most of them hated Ohio...so I was in good company. Go Blue!!!

As much football as I'm allowed to watch tomorrow, Korean BBQ tomorrow night, Cookout Sunday, last Pool Monday.  Also try to catch up on work and home items before the full September back to school / work / reality sets in.

I'm not in a bad mood because we lost, but I'd be in a better mood if we won - especially if it was a cool come from behind win in the 4th quarter.  Oh well.  Harbaugh has never won his first game at a new college destination . . . and it seemed to work out OK.

Switching between some New Belgium brews and a liberal application of Grass Widow bourbon tomorrow. Best as I can tell Nashville has one decent micro-brewery(Black Abbey) and their bottles are hard as hell to find in the liquor stores here.

Cracked a Dogfish Head 120 from the collection last night to usher in the season. Now a St Bernardus 8 in, before switching to Speedway Stout. I'm all about efficiency.

Going to finally see Pink Martini tomorrow. Sunday I get to haul a bunch of rat urine-soaked drywall and insulation to the city dump. Monday I just chill.
