Extra Klatt content. Here he defends his choice for ranking Michigan number one. He breaks down several key features of both Michigan’s OL and DL. He provides solid video evidence for each of his points from the Nebraska game.

A question for you all regarding the game video in this clip… is this the All 22 video Seth has long pined for? The camera angles don’t look familiar from the live broadcast. There’s also some shaky zoom action. Regardless, this camera angle is quite helpful for seeing some of the OL/DL concepts discussed on this board in great detail.

I can’t imagine the # of face palms this guy does every Saturday setting next to Gus. If we have an average game this week,  Klatt will be doing the same next week but pimping Georgia or Texas. Either way, the guy knows what he’s talking about. If urban was anyone else I’d say the same about him.

This is an interesting season - with several teams playing at a high level.  I’m not saying Michigan is the #1 team in the country - but, the Maize & Blue are certainly part of the discussion.

Oregon, Washington, Texas, Georgia (despite struggling at times), Ohio State, Florida State, Penn State, and Oklahoma are all teams that have an argument - and undefeated so far in the season.

This is as competitive of a college season as I can recall - probably in more than a decade.

Agreed. Except I’d add that it’s been weirdly competitive. I can’t say I’ve watched enough of anyone outside of Michigan to say who looks like the best team in CFB. Michigan is right there, we just need to show it come PSU and Maryland. OSU is what it is. They could look soft or like straight up “oh shit”  by then. They’re really a hard team to gauge, although I’m still sticking to them losing this week.

It does seem that there are a lot of possible contenders this year.  I will say that Michigan is one of the few teams that seems to be consistently strong on offense and defense week in and week out.  Many of the other teams have shown some weakness on one side or the other from time to time.

I watch the game day shows, and CFB Final, and have listened to a fair amount of sports talk radio this week.  And what have I learned, you ask?  I have learned that people talk about Michigan in the context that it's a team at the top that deserves to be there.  But all of the analysis, discussion, raves, reviews, praise, and hype goes to Texas, FSU, OSU, PSU, UGA, Oregon, and Washington.  Michigan is never mentioned until the #2 team must be spoken about - and then it's 'ain't played nobody'.

There is no national trust of Michigan.  National talking heads even say JJ is iffy and needs to answer some questions because he had a 3-pick game, and can he keep up the running game.  Ohh, and his throwing game is okay.

Only Klatt is actually talking about, and looking at, Michigan.  I, for one, hope it stays that way.  Let UT jump us if they beat OU Saturday - I'm good with that...

Va - I’m with you. I hope Michigan is the underdog as much as possible.  I hope the talking heads keep saying - “Look at USC’s and Ohio State’s offense.”…   Keep giving huge amounts of attention to Texas (who’s finally back), Oregon, Washington, Georgia, etc.   And, when the game comes - just let it all go.

This Michigan squad has an exceptional culture - and, I hope it shows every time they take the field.

As we head into the sixth game of the season, on a neutral field, Michigan can beat any other team currently ranked in the Top 10. This only applies to this weekend if Michigan were to be playing any of these top ranked teams. Therefor, IMO, they are #1. (We'll see how thing play out after this weekend)

Klatt has been the best in-game analyst for a while now. I listen to all of his podcasts during the season.

I always thought the all 22 was a static angle taken from the end zone view, I don't think it zooms in or the camera follows the ball.

Seems like his only argument is that we have better players. And vs Nebraska and everyone so far that's been true. But not a very convincing argument as to why we should be #1.

I want them to stay at #2, maybe even drop to #3.  They need to stay hungry and it doesn't matter if their goal is NC or not.  With their leadership that may not happen but they're 18-22 years old and human.

Whenever I think that some member of the media who covers college football rates Michigan highly in the weekly rankings, I can always turn to The Athletic’s Chris Vannini, a Michigan State alum, to temper my expectations with a healthy dose of BPONE about where Michigan football should be ranked.

Here’s the list of the Top 50 and a LINK to Vannini’s latest rankings as of October 2 that show Michigan rated seventh behind Ohio State (3) and Penn State (6) among Big Ten East Division teams. Sorry, the story’s behind the paywall.

1 Texas, 2 Florida State, 3 Ohio State, 4 Georgia, 5 Washington, 6 Penn State, 7 Michigan, 8 Oregon, 9 Notre Dame, 10 USC, 11 Alabama, 12 North Carolina, 13 Washington State, 14 Oklahoma, 15 Duke, 16 Miami, 17 Oregon State, 18 Utah, 19 Missouri, 20 Ole Miss, 21 Kentucky, 22 Maryland, 23 Kansas State, 24 LSU, 25 Texas A&M

26 Kansas, 27 UCLA, 28 Florida, 29 Tennessee, 30 Clemson, 31 Louisville, 32 Colorado, 33 Wisconsin, 34 Tulane, 35 Fresno State, 36 James Madison, 37 Air Force, 38 BYU, 39 West Virginia, 40 TCU, 41 Iowa, 42 Wyoming, 43 Syracuse, 44 Memphis, 45 Marshall, 46 Auburn. 47 UCF, 48 South Carolina, 49 Cal, 50 NC State

The anti-Michigan bias in the national media no longer surprises me. Maybe Jim Harbaugh rubs too many people the wrong way. (I'm not one of them.) Maybe it's due to Michigan not having been among the elite college football programs and having lost to Ohio State so often in the years before Harbaugh arrived and Ohio State having been considered the Big Ten's elite football program for most of this century.

Among Michigan alumni, Adam Schefter focuses on the NFL and Tracy Wolfson is an NFL sideline reporter. Other than Nicole Auerbach at The Athletic and The Big Ten Network, Desmond Howard on ESPN's College Game Day, Jake Butt on occasional Big Ten football broadcasts and studio shows and Devin Gardner on some Fox Sports 1 college football broadcasts, where are the media voices promoting Michigan football?

My only allegiance to Michigan comes from being the parent of a Double Wolverine, so I don't get terribly upset by Michigan football being overlooked or downplayed in the media. I just am happy to watch the young men do the work on the field that will bring them more favorable recognition.

I don't want to be ranked #1 until the end of the season.  Let somebody else eat that rat poison.

Let Georgia or Texas or FSU have it.
