most likely going to be #1 in Hockey.  Moving up in the top 10 in Football.

This is going to be a fun winter!

If we win National Championships in all three this year/season, I’ll eat a lemon. While naked. In Times Square at noon on a Monday. Save this and hold me to it.

I have no idea about Gonzaga's team but considering they lost 3 guys to the draft last year I'm thinking they're banking a lot of this on Holmgren being an instant contributor as a freshman.  Might happen but still feels UM is the better all-around team.

Sure, but those 3-4 big non-conference games are early season and pale in comparison to that conference slate (out of their control, but the point remains). My point is they have an entire season before they play and tough games that really matter. They could lose all of their tough non-con games and still finish with 4 or 5 total losses. Which would make them maybe a 3 seed at worst?

I’m not discounting them as an elite program, I’m simply pointing out that they’re more equipped to handle losing a little bit of talent than most teams because they have such an easy path to a top seed considering they only play a couple tough games before the NCAA tournament.

Gonzaga return quite a few key contributors like Drew Timme who is in the running for the national player of the year, Andrew Nembhard, and Anton Watson. Like you mentioned, they got Chet Holmgren but they also got Hunter Salis who is a 5* recruit. They have a transfer in Rasir Bolton who averaged 15.5 ppg at Iowa State.

Gonzaga is reloading this season and they have the 3rd best recruiting class in the country to help supplement the loss of their key players from last year.

After years of polls underrating us - I kind of enjoyed going into the season and proving those tools wrong.

But having Coach Howard recruit and develop these deep, strong teams, allowing us to start the season as national favorites?  That's pretty damn good too!

Go Blue!!!

My Michigan fandom began as a 10 year old in the early '90s when we were just good at everything -- top 10 in all three -- and I just assumed it would always remain so.  Not going to take it for granted now.

Dates noted.  But if you want a play with safer money, call it hockey.  There's a crapload of good, seasoned basketball teams that can get an upset against a really good Michigan team on a basketball court.  There are not so many hockey teams that can do the same.  I also think the hockey team might be a little more stacked - and I completely expect a National Championship from Mel's team this year.

Prove me wrong, Juwan...

Personally, I think they have us rated too high in basketball. 9 of our guys are freshman & sophmores. A lot of unproven talent to be ranked that high. I hope they are right, but Purdue and Illinois look better on paper.

That’s not really a sensible way to look at our roster which is actually pretty experienced in terms of who will play the majority of minutes.
jones - senior, Eli - super senior, johns - senior as starters. Non senior starters are all American returning starter hunter and mcd all American consensus top 10 nba pick Houstan from best high school prep program in nation.
