Keith Appling Arrested - Stay Classy Sparty
Appling arrested for heroin use & possession.
Klages found guilty for covering up complaints about Nassar.
Sparty pays 3 times too much for a career 5-7 coach after they completely whiffed on their first choice Fickell.
Blackwell & Dantonio still going back and forth.
The spiral into the abyss continues!

So we are just an MSU news blog now?
February 14th, 2020 at 11:29 PM ^
What the hell else is there to talk about?? I’m drinking bourbon and want to hate on Sparty! It’s fun to do on a cold Michigan Friday night.
February 15th, 2020 at 1:05 AM ^
Michigan baseball beating the # 1 team in the country? Let them celebrate the hiring of a 5-7 coach. Who cares? We beat them in football, basketball, and ice hockey this year.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:32 AM ^
Also why would you include serious legal and moral violations (the gymnastics stuff) with a potentially bad hire? One is terribly serious, one allows us to poke fun at a rival. I don’t think they should be equated at all.
February 15th, 2020 at 10:00 AM ^
You know exactly what you're doing. You have been trolling here for quite a while now. I'd bet you're just doing this so you can go back to your home base and talk about how many Sparty threads there are on MGo...
You're a sad human being, man. Seriously fucking sad. Pathetic even.

Most of this isn’t news anymore tho
February 14th, 2020 at 11:25 PM ^
Late Friday night news dump?
February 14th, 2020 at 11:29 PM ^
I grew up playing against Appling in AAU. Graduated the same year. He was a special, special talent. I wish he would have just gone and stayed as far away from Detroit once he left MSU.
February 14th, 2020 at 11:33 PM ^
Ohhhhh
February 15th, 2020 at 12:59 AM ^
But Detroit is so great!
February 15th, 2020 at 7:00 AM ^
he was one of the top 5 HS players that I've seen. It's a shame.
February 14th, 2020 at 11:53 PM ^
I said this in another thread. Giving Sparty shit about their football woes is all well and good. Going after Izzo and appling for the rape is fair game. Ffs, they both should be in a cell right now for that.
but I do take issue with the addiction thing. Anyone that struggles with opioid addiction needs help not being kicked while they’re down. It could be the devil in the sweater vest himself and I’d say the same thing. It’s a disease that tears families apart and shouldn’t be mocked
February 15th, 2020 at 12:05 AM ^
Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but maybe he turned to smack as an escape from his conscience.
February 15th, 2020 at 12:38 AM ^
It’s hard for me to feel bad for him.
February 15th, 2020 at 12:58 AM ^
If the system worked Appling would be off the street and Izzo and Dantonio would be in prison for everything they’ve done...just look at their history and the lives they’ve fucked up, but hey Bill Simonson like them so it’s OK!
February 15th, 2020 at 6:36 AM ^
Agree completely. Yes it’s news and can be posted, no we shouldn’t point and laugh. This likely won’t end well for him.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:50 AM ^
With how much he had on him, it’s possible he’s a dealer rather than addict. I have less sympathy for dealers because they know they are selling poison.
February 15th, 2020 at 11:23 AM ^
My understanding is that the lines between dealer/user are often blurred. In many instances the dealer is someone who is an addict as well, gets access to drugs, and then shares it with/sells it to friends, family members, etc. I vaguely recall someone who almost ODed but survived, and then was charged because his girlfriend died from an overdose (and he had supplied her with the drugs). I think those sorts of stories are depressingly common.
February 15th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
Addicts are often dealers and vice versa. And dealer often just means selling some of your stuff to your friends
February 15th, 2020 at 7:09 PM ^
19 grams is a lot for personal use. That’s at least a couple hundred doses fwiw.
February 15th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
Dealing should be the only “jailable” offense imo. Put whatever you want into your veins but selling it and ruining peoples lives is beyond messed up. Especially the ones that spray it with fentanyl. They know they’re killing people.

Bakery Piacenza seems a really long way from the NBA
Maybe we'll get more photo ops with Payne and a dying blonde little girl.
February 15th, 2020 at 12:20 AM ^
Addiction is not something to joke about "staying classy"
This is a weak take OP.
I hope that Appling gets whatever help he needs and I hope his (alleged) victim gets whatever closure they need.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:50 AM ^
I was confused by the OP, did it say he was using? My only guess was the OP assumed he was because police said he was unsteady, to me it sound like he was scared because of what he had on him
February 15th, 2020 at 11:23 AM ^
No, addiction is not something to joke about. Even though the PC thing to do today is to offer sympathy to the "poor victims" of the opioid problems, we're not talking about a case where a person got hooked taking Vicodin after a surgery. We're talking heroin. With a guy who had been given every advantage in life one could have. It's time we make people take responsibility for their actions.
February 15th, 2020 at 1:32 PM ^
It very well could have started with a painkiller. It’s common knowledge that some of these painkillers lead to heroin addiction but maybe you can’t see it from up on your high horse
February 15th, 2020 at 12:29 AM ^
maybe it's just me, but seems bit classless to make light of someone with a drug dependency problem. Throwing everything else in there is just low hanging fruit and redundant. Be better, go blue.
February 15th, 2020 at 12:53 AM ^
Hey, it's Mitch McGary!!! How is business going???
/jk
February 15th, 2020 at 1:14 AM ^
Nice tool comment, did McGary ever serve prison time?
February 15th, 2020 at 7:49 AM ^
??? The joke was at UNC Wolverine.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:49 AM ^
What about someone who sells drugs like heroin? He had 2 grand of heroin on him.
February 15th, 2020 at 12:44 AM ^
yeah. I don't care that much about MSU and don't really enjoy hearing that a former player is on heroine. That's sad. Sports aren't that important to take Schadenfreunde joy out of that.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:00 AM ^
He's probably on heroin. Heroine is the young woman he raped who survived that brutality and is now going after him legally.
February 15th, 2020 at 9:26 AM ^
While I don’t think it is cool to make fun of addicts because of sports, I have to admit it is a lot funnier when you combine it with a rape joke! /s
February 15th, 2020 at 12:52 AM ^
Who saw this coming???
February 15th, 2020 at 12:54 AM ^
Thoughts and prayers, at least he didn't shoot himself at 'da club or have his crazy girlfriend burn his house down!!!
February 15th, 2020 at 1:04 AM ^
The fact that this board still thinks it is classier than RCMB or 11 warriors is a joke, and it is getting worse.
February 15th, 2020 at 1:22 AM ^
Are you going to St Louis Dead & Co show on July 13?
February 15th, 2020 at 8:40 AM ^
The OP is getting heavily negged. Vast majority of the comments are pretty classy (hope he gets better, no need to gloat in another persons misery, etc.). I don't ever go to RCMB or 11 Warriors, but from what I see we're not doing too bad over here.
February 15th, 2020 at 3:46 AM ^
For a lot of folks, there's a significant portion of life spent dealing with consequences of events beyond their control.
Meanwhile, everyone is faced with choices to make every single day which affect their quality of life and the quality of life of others around them.
I think that things like this entire thread and Applings heroin addiction fall within the scope of the 2nd sentence above.
Choose now, live the consequences after. At least I think that's how it works.
February 15th, 2020 at 10:14 AM ^
Fate...one measure of life, what we make of it everyday when we awake distinguish me from you.
February 15th, 2020 at 6:33 AM ^
OP's gotta be pretty miserable to take joy in this kind of stuff. ?
February 15th, 2020 at 7:18 AM ^
These things arent all connected and trying to use a persons substance use issues to shit on a rival makes you a shit person
February 15th, 2020 at 7:29 AM ^
Guy is clearly struggling with addiction. Maybe point the “stay classy” joke at yourself.
February 15th, 2020 at 1:25 PM ^
"Clearly?" An addict doesn't drive around with 19g when the most common, personal use dosage is .02g. Unfortunately, you're feeling sorry for this guy for being a drug dealer, not an addict.
February 15th, 2020 at 7:56 AM ^
He hasnt worn an MSU jersey in years. This is just somebody struggling with life and thats just not funny.
February 15th, 2020 at 8:02 AM ^
19 grams of heroin is a fuck ton by the way. This is going to turn out poorly for him, but I hope he comes out the other end of this smarter and healthier. Article says he was still involved in basketball abroad. Hope he gets clean and makes smart decisions and is able to live a mildly normal life.
February 15th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
posts like this making fun of addicting shows how Mgoboard is slowly turning into RCMB territory.
February 15th, 2020 at 10:08 AM ^
Be serious, people. He's selling. That's not a "personal use" amount of heroin. Who knows, maybe he's selling to support his own habit. But either way he selling the poison and preying on people.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the addicts/victims, not drug peddlers like this dipshit.
