Karan Higdon RB 2015 to visit

Submitted by Losher on

According to 247 Iowa commit Karan Higdon, and 4 star RB, will visit michigan this weekend. Earlier today when it was reported he was offered he said he was all Hawkeye. But a visit at this point in the game isnt a bad sign. he is a 5'10 190 lb running back who is thought of as a bruising back and not so much a speed guy

"Smith may have more long speed (even that is pretty debatable) bur he has no burst at all."

Smith has zero long speed. He is one of the slowest backs I've seen at Michigan. This is not to say that he doesn't have some value (he's a tough short-yardage back), but the guy is slow. I've been saying it since he was in high school, and this past season should have made it clear to everyone.

Also, if you like high school 40 times (hint: you probably shouldn't) Green was supposedly pretty fast.

Higdon come to Michigan.  With his academic credentials and community service, he belongs here.  Hopefully, Snowageddon won't affect his visit this weekend too much.

RHS was 4 - 6, 0-3 vs 8A teams, 1 of those only won 1 game all year, and the 4 teams you beat only combined for 6 total wins all year. RHS played Bayshore, Booker, and Southeast in 5A.  Venice and Lehigh in 6A, Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota in 7A. Manatee and St. Pete are talented, Venice is usually very well coached. The rest of the schedule is mediocre at best.

pretty sure this kids coach recently posted on here, unique name so 99% sure its same dude.  i thought the kid looked similar to touissant.

solid player, average D1 prospect, decent not great speed.  dont see him as the sort to change games at the highest levels but could prob contribute like touissant.

hes got a little burst and some cutting ability - certainly quicker than their current RBs though thats not too difficult.  tough to gauge vision and predict definitively based on like 8 mins tape but i think touissants a fair comparison (stars/ ratings aside, just film based).

finding elite playmakers at this late stage is always very tough but securing a decent rotation RB like this kid would be solid pickup

Ok, for the coaches out there, does he run with shoulders pointed at the sidelines a lot? Would that be a point of emphasis coaching wise? He seems to be able to get away with it in high school but would that fly against other fbs players in a power 5 conference? Not dogging the kid at all. Just an observation and wondered what the coaches thought.

He really only turns his shoulders when he bounces outside. Your point is valid that he won't be doing that as much in college, as he is not fast enough to bounce outside like he has done in HS. He is a very balanced runner and he has a burst through the hole. He won't burn anyone and doesn't seem like a homerun threat, but he has some good cuts (I really like his jump cut) that will get him past the front 7 defenders, but he won't be beating any D-I safeties or corners in a foot race. Deveon Smith is a good comparison, but this guy is a lot more elusive and has a little more straight line speed than Deveon.

I think some people think he's faster than he really is. His film is not running in real time. There is a speed up or a slight fast-forward on his recording, making him (and all the other players on the field) look faster. Did anyone else catch that?

Details on the delay are Planes...Trains....and Automobilish. ...but he's on campus now in the fine care of our Head Coach himself. Karan has a great future as a player. Next year will be the first chance he's had to run behind a line with comparable size to that of their opponents. A lot was asked of Karan and his speed is good. He is a 4.5 guy with regularity and can leg out high 4.4s. He is also a track guy and in particular a 4×100 participant.
