Just a heads up: Gas in Dallas

Submitted by South TX MFan on

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I evacuated Houston earlier in the week and came up to Dallas. This morning there was a run on gasoline as prices are expected to spike and supplies drop due to the number of refineries that shut down. I tried to get gas a few hours ago and over a dozen stations I went to were out of gas. I ended up driving 40 miles south of the city so I could fill up. Even in the little podunk town I ended up at there were lines. Just wanted to warn you guys coming into town of what was going on.

Hopefully this helps. We live in the area and found gas at several places later in the day after the initial pandelirium.  The tankers all showed up later and refilled.  The link below is a quick reference on the up to date status of a local gas station chain, specifically, which stores have it.  Please come, we need all the Michigan fans we can get.  Go Blue!

You did good...earlier, it was speculation and you had some hard facts that are very valuable for those driving to the game.

Until Mgoblog gets fixed, it is not a mortal sin to post something that is not posted on the first page...too many people walking on eggshells over a few bytes of storage.  On most sites, the mods combine the threads, and maybe that is in our future.

As someone that lives in DFW, this is a crazy time.  There are many conflicting reports about there being/not being a shortage in Gas.  I for one am not going to risk it and waited to get gas this morning.   Most of the gas stations by DFW airport are out of gas. I suggest if people are renting cars in town to either get the fuel buddy app to show what stations have gas or to get the gas plan with your rental car.

News and authorities are saying theres plenty of gas; however, stations are running out and a friend that works in oil/gas stated they're running out. Might just be a logistics and distribution issue but I've cancelled my trip to Dallas this weekend, unfortunately. Dont need to be stuck with 3 kids and no gas in sight far from home.

Same in Austn.  Had to wait in line for one hour at the only available station--lucky to have made the commute home.

They keep saying there is plenty of gas--but many of the stations are out.

Told the wife to postpone the trip with the kids to the water park in New Braunfels this weekend as I dont want her to get stuck there.

Stay home and conserve (good excuse to not mow the lawn as well).

Thanks! We're doing well. Wife and I are dry and have our dogs with us, waiting to go back probably on Sunday. My brother just checked on our house and so far so good. The river near us is cresting today through Saturday and flooded the backside of our neighborhood but we're dry so far. Fingers crossed.

I have to hijack this thread, but I am in the Houston area and am now not planning to go to the game due to Harvey impacts.  I was very fortunate compared to others in the area as my house stayed dry and my family is safe.  I have two tickets in the Upper Level, in section 450, row 20 that were purchased from the University and are in the Michigan section that I would like to give to another Michigan fan if possible.  If you or anybody you know are interested in using them, please email me at [email protected].  I have talked to the ticket office and they said that I can have them reprinted at will call with a different name.  Thanks and Go Blue!

I work in Fort Worth. I don't know the extent of a gas shortage in the DFW area, but I can tell you tthat one of my co-workers had to go to four stations before finding one that had gas. Another had to wait an hour in line to get gas.

My guess is that even if there isn't a gas shortage, the mere thought of one will lead to long lines and high prices this weekend.

Not sure if this would be helpful to anyone, but I'll be driving to the game tomorrow from near downtown Dallas. Could probably squeeze in two more people if anyone has tickets and needs to conserve gas.

Lines were an absolute mess last night near the airport.  Prevailing opinion I've been hearing is that there's no real danger of shortage, but now that everyone's all worked up they have caused a run on the stations.  Many are closed and out of gas completely.  But hey, it's Lyft/Uber's problem, not ours!
