Huge recruiting weekend.
November 19th, 2017 at 5:22 PM ^
I never thought I'd say this but..Gasp, if only we had John Navarre....
November 19th, 2017 at 7:42 PM ^
John Navarre basically started this downward spiral, playing a major role in turning Ohio State into the juggernaut that they are today with his abysmally bad play in the 2001 game. Jim Tressell achieved god like status for delivering on his "guarantee" and Ohio State hasn't looked back since.
November 19th, 2017 at 8:04 PM ^
Navarre was the last Michigan QB to beat OSU. They had NFL QB in Henne with NFL players all over the team like Manningham, Long, Woodley, Harris, etc. FOH
November 19th, 2017 at 8:21 PM ^
Does Denard Robinson not count as a QB?
November 19th, 2017 at 8:24 PM ^
Huh? Navarre was the last Michigan QB to win the B1G.
Denard was the last QB to beat OSU.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:17 PM ^
That's also wrong. Henne was our QB in 2004.
November 20th, 2017 at 12:08 AM ^
Navarre was QB for our last outright B1G title.
November 19th, 2017 at 8:49 PM ^
I like Navarre, but facts are facts. He threw four picks against a 6-4 OSU team that was not only led by a first time starter, but hadn't won at Michigan Stadium since 1987. At 12:00 pm on that fateful day, Jim Tressell was nothing more than a small college coach who seemed to be in way over his head. By 3:30 pm that day, he was a Michigan slaying god that delivered on his guarantee. Michigan has never recovered from that psychological shift in the series and Navarre's role in that shift cannot be discounted.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:14 PM ^
8" to 10" crown on the field when Navarre was there?
November 19th, 2017 at 9:51 PM ^
This is the exact thing every other fanbase makes fun of us for. The other team never beats us or has a good game plan, we just beat ourselves. You realize OSU still has to capitalize on all those turnovers right? Maybe Tressel was just a really good coach? He won a freaking national title the next year, and with a QB he didn't recruit?! How is that possible?!
November 19th, 2017 at 9:54 PM ^
Four interceptions against a mediocre 6-4 team that hasn't beaten you in your house in 14 years is pretty much the definition of beating yourself, but hey, don't hurt yourself when you fall off your high horse.

This game was supposed to be an afterthought. Strategic shift. Seismic shift.
November 19th, 2017 at 8:16 PM ^
Navarre shouldnt have been playing. Should have been Henson's senior year.
November 19th, 2017 at 8:30 PM ^
Craig Krenzel made his first career start that day.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:18 PM ^
Good ole Keith Jackson in the box
Watched the game with Patrick

Dude was from utica, mi. Should have been a wolverine.
November 21st, 2017 at 10:07 PM ^
Tressel liked leaders and less talent vs. more talent and less leadership. Krenzel fit Tressel. Krenzel did not fit UM. Well, academically and leadership-wise he did. But the skill set coming out of HS? No.

Hmmm..., im guessing Ohio State started this downward trend by playing better. But that's just a guess.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:43 PM ^
Michigan's poor play has absolutely nothing to do with it.
November 19th, 2017 at 5:24 PM ^
It would be the best early Christmas present ever. GO BLUE!... Fuck Ohio State!
November 19th, 2017 at 5:25 PM ^
A win on Saturday changes everything. .
November 19th, 2017 at 5:32 PM ^
I will be rooting my heart out for a win, but the chances of a win are perhaps the lowest they have been in 20 years. Seriously. If Peters isn't 100% healthy, and if he doesn't play the game of his life, we will lose. If John O'Korn steps on the field for any reason other than to stretch or warm up a player, we are F*CKED!
November 19th, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
O'Korn means an automatic loss.
November 19th, 2017 at 6:51 PM ^
was knocked unconscious and carted off the field yesterday. He isn’t playing. Approximately 0% chance. Speight is more likely to play than Peters.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:26 PM ^
The hyperbole is strong with this one. The defense is good enough to keep it close. You can't say that's been the case at all for each of the last 20 years.

Let's revisit this thread after Saturday. If it's close I will make all the apologies in the world. If we lose by 10 or more points you do the same.
November 20th, 2017 at 8:50 AM ^
You think the teams that lost 7 or more games from 2008-2014 had a better shot?
November 19th, 2017 at 5:25 PM ^
we all want a win.
and man, would it be sweet justice if we somehow pulled it off.
but honestly, i'd be happy w/ a good game. the one thing we can hope for is some kind of crazy good o-line performance that lets us run and run and run (and shorten the game) and the defense playing even better than usual. if it all falls into place, maybe a 20-14 win or something like that.
OSU ain't unbeatable, but when they get rolling they are tough.
November 19th, 2017 at 5:27 PM ^
No he has to win this game nuff said
November 19th, 2017 at 5:55 PM ^
Or what? You won’t make your $5 donation to the athletic department?
November 19th, 2017 at 7:05 PM ^
What are you going to do if he loses? Besides get really really mad.
November 19th, 2017 at 7:39 PM ^
probably also post really stupid comments on message boards like this one
November 20th, 2017 at 12:07 AM ^
Sounds like he may cry
November 19th, 2017 at 9:29 PM ^
That's probably not going to happen but the fictitious ultimatum you propose is stupid.
November 19th, 2017 at 5:34 PM ^
Fuck Ohio State!
November 19th, 2017 at 6:23 PM ^
If Purdue, Iowa, Illinois, MSU and PSU can all beat OSU, so can Michigan.
Just don't understand the mental block against them.
Sigh.
November 19th, 2017 at 6:27 PM ^
Before last year, they have always been more talented, and usually have needed that game more than us. Last year was the first in a long time, we had anything, other than respect on the line.
November 19th, 2017 at 6:31 PM ^
Most of those teams you mentioned were able to sneak up on OSU. That's never going to be the case for Michigan. We get their full attention, and when they have a lot of talent, it's hard to win.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:07 PM ^
Very good point. OSU will never drop an Iowa-type performance when they play Michigan. We are gonna have to play out of our minds and flat out do things that we haven't seen all year. From a matchup standpoint, Michigan should lose this game by at least 10 points and if O'Korn starts then probably more. I'm as hopeful as anyone they can pull an upset, but some crazy stuff is gonna have to happen.
November 19th, 2017 at 9:21 PM ^
Oh good oh Coach Dantonio is a buck nut! From Ohio
November 19th, 2017 at 6:08 PM ^
In year 3 of JH, we are okay with a "good game" against OSU.
Yikes.
November 19th, 2017 at 7:00 PM ^
that's because we almost never can expect a win - should be a 50/50 game most years. If it plays out like that, what else can you really ask for? It's not like OSU ain't gonna be good any year soon.
November 19th, 2017 at 7:51 PM ^
Yes -- and Georgia and Auburn should give up on their programs, because most years they would be satisfied with a closely-contested game with a chance to win against Alabama. I think I understand the logic...
November 19th, 2017 at 9:00 PM ^
Wow. This is sad. Should not be okay to just be a good game. And nobody is saying anything about giving up on a program. Except you maybe.
November 19th, 2017 at 10:53 PM ^
Up your reading comprehension - I referred to a closely contested game with a chance of winning at the end -- what more do you and the OP want JH to provide?? OSU is perenially a top 5 team and has lost 6 games in the last 5 years (2 in BIG play). We are playing our 3rd string quarterback.
Welcome to reality -- it's not always awesome.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:20 AM ^
Yeah, exclude me from that terrible mindset.
