Looks like NFL TEs coached by him include Jordan Cameron (CLE), Bear Pascoe (ATL), Rhett Ellison (MIN), and possibly a few more.
I also glanced at the ST stats for Fresno State when he was there and it looks like the kickers were accurate and they scored on at least 1 punt or kick return nearly every season he was ST coach.

Article seems to portray the type of coach he is and how the players like him. Good read!

The guy sounds like he will get right along with Harbaugh...

Good read. Thanks for shairing!
He was a candidate for one of the Texas openings. Much praise in this article.
"The latest update comes from Horns247, where there are three names that are expected to interview for the two open positions -- Levine, Dugans, and former USC associate head coach/special teams coordinator John Baxter."......" He does have excellent bona fides coaching special teams, however, as USC was second in blocked punts and fourth in blocked kicks during the 2013 season."
Down side for Texas includes Money, (1.1m) in 2013 and..
"If recruiting in the state of Texas is a priority for at least one of the positions, as Horns247 now believes, Baxter isn't the ideal candidate, as it does not appear that he has any recent experience recruiting the state, though he likely did when was at Tulane from 1994 to 1996."

I wonder why he was not picked up last year?

Based on the latest few threads, I could see our assistants shaping up like:
1. Drevno - Co-OC (Running Game Coordinator)/OL
2. Dougherty - Co-OC (Passing Game Coordinator)/QB
3. Wheatley - RB
4. Morton - WR
5. Baxter - ST Coordinator/TE
6. Durkin - DC/ILB
7. Mattison - DT
8. Manning - DE/OLB
9. Jackson - DB
Thoughts?

Looks good to me. After reading up on Baxter he sounds like an awesome hire!
January 7th, 2015 at 6:42 PM ^
but then I am not sure what Dougherty's role will be unless Morton is not in the fold.
January 7th, 2015 at 6:59 PM ^
Maybe, but then it makes the Dougherty hire (if it is actually happening) a bit confusing. As someone mentioned in the other thread, Harbaugh will have his hands on all facets of the offense and will definitely be coaching our QB's (and the QB coach if we bring one in), but it may help to have a separate person who can focus more just on the QB's all practice. Just based on the information out there, this was my best guess.

I'm happy Mattison has a buddy now that Harbaugh is hiring all these young whippersnappers.
Mattison and Baxter can sip their tea and hit the buffets at 5pm.
SIIIIIKE, Baxter better know who SWAG MATTISON is, no AARP around these parts! More like the buffet at Ashley's at 5AM!

would be suprised by Baxter's youth.

Must've been a terrible picture.

Baxter and Harbaugh were both born in 1963.

Harbaugh making the same mistake as Hoke, and putting Manning with the Cornerbacks, he was a Linebacker, and will probably be coaching Linebackers.
January 7th, 2015 at 8:24 PM ^
The CB's performed just fine under Manning fundementally. There isn't a mistake there. Durkin is a better LB coach than Manning.

I didn't like the DB fundamentals this season. From Game 1, it seemed like we were going to be a bump and run team on the corner. But as the season wore on, we would like up in jam coverage, but not get any contact at all.
It looked more like "whiff and trail" than bump and run.
