Jesse Palmer on ESPN - UofM "Most Impressive"

Submitted by Beavis on
Sorry if this had already been posted, but I did a quick subject search and nothing came up. A few hours ago (halftime of the Cinci-Rutgers game), Jesse Palmer called us the most impressive team from this past weekend. Apparently a lot can change in a year - here's to hoping we kick the crap out of ND on Saturday. (Full disclosure - he also said that Jimmah was his most impressive player from the weekend)

We'll take the compliments where we can get them. Even if they're from a dude who voluntarily did a reality TV dating show while still in the NFL. You really mean you couldn't pull down enough women by just walking into a bar and revealing that you were on an NFL roster. I'm shutting up. At least the guy threw us a compliment.

If anything, hes the second "Most Impressive" Canadian talent ever. The first just so happens to be from my hometown and has an awesome name, Oshiomogho Atogwe, the starting safety for the St. Louis Rams.

against Oshiomogho Atogwe (or OJ for short) in high school basketball. the kid is a freak show. football wasn't even his best sport, soccer was. he was all city in: basketball, soccer, football, and track in his senior year. oh and he carried a 98% average(4.0) in school.

Yep, many pundits have called our performance "impressive." But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's see how we deal with ND before figuring out where this team is going to go this year.

Which I was really surprised by. I'm not sure what that guys name is on there - the one that hates everything in life - but he said ND should have been doing this two years ago. Michigan just came off a 3 win season and definitely made the most of the weekend.

I guess it's most impressive when you've set the bar really low and had bogus allegations to deal with all week. I'll take it, but I just hope our guys aren't getting overconfident and the coaches are keeping their heads from getting to big. I'm sure that's the case, and I know the guys want to avenge the loss from last year, so let's hope for a great week of practice (20 hrs supervised) and extensive hours of non-supervised film study (as many as possible).

This team will take nothing for granted. They will finish hard every game, win or die trying. They may not win them all, but you can sense the attitude. (By the way, my hat's off to Lee Corso. Coach came off a stroke, has facial paralysis, and did well out there. Most people would never have come back to broadcasting after that. As a physician who treats patients with this condition, I can tell you he had to have put in an incredible amount of time in therapy to get where he is. I was thinking about posting this OT, but didn't think many would be interested.)

I personally think we were an impressive team, but I see that complement as more about building hype for the ESPN/ABC broadcast than what he really might believe.

We still need to keep our expectations in check. We're a young team with freshmen getting the playing time at QB. We'll look like a young team from time to time. Look at Illinois, they whooped on us last year and looked like world beaters, then went and lost to Western. I think we'll see some ups and downs like that, I just hope that they're more moderate.
