I'll take a stab at this. Original: Does anyone have the slightest inkling when and where Jelani Jenkins will make his first official recruiting visit? In a similar vein, is anyone aware of any schools young Mr. Jenkins may have dropped from consideration? I'm also wondering if and when the University of Michigan will entertain the highly sought-after Marylander. followup: (expletive deleted) ... Who are the five colleges or universities most likely to succeed in convincing the All-Met linebacker from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School to enroll at their institution of higher learning? Playing in the background: ... it's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine ...

he's also set up an official with Illinois for 1/23/09 according the Rivals. TomVH noted yesterday that its not looking good for Michigan with this one, stating that he's declined interviews with him 3 times.

if he ends up at Illinois. Whenever we get a recruit like this I can at least understand going to PSU, but Illini? We have better academics, tradition, facilities, and will most likely be back in a title game before they will. Then again I guess you never know what is running through the 17 year old minds.

Yes yes i know espn sucks balls when it comes to recruiting.

Sorry, I was at the bar watching North Carolina play some high school basketball team, something about Sparta..or Spartans, I don't know. Anyway, Jelani Jenkins = I have no clue. He's been very very good about keeping quiet, and putting people on wild goose chases. I think that we have a chance, but one it's early, and two I think Penn State and Florida are coming hard. So I have no clue. Like I said before, he's blown me off 3 times now for an interview, and won't tell me anything when I ask him. On another note, Something HUGE is about to happen. I'm not reporting what it is, because of the debacle last time. BUT, something BIG is happening soon. Don't ask me what it is, because I'm not reporting it until it happens. But, if something big happens then that's what I'm talking about here.

On a similar note, something really small and completely insignificant is going to happen in the next few hours. I mean, it's gonna be SLIGHT! Don't ask me what it is, because I'm sworn to secrecy on pain of death and lost credentials, but if you notice something minuscule, inconsequential, frivolous, slight, trifling, trivial or negligible, that's what I'm talking about here. Okay, fine, if you MUST know, the EPA is going to be awarded the President's Quality Award for management experience, which is like the Heisman for government agencies. You heard it here first. (p.s. Sorry Tom. I figured I had to get you back somehow for instigating what I'm sure is now going to be a day of spamming "refresh.")

Tom's sources seem to be pretty high up. He may be the first to hear these types of rumors. Remember, he was first on the scene with the McGuffie rumblings. Now, to parse. I doubt this is transfer news. Anything "huge" on that front would be uniformly negative. A transfer that inspires a mixed response such as a Carson Butler departure could not be classified as huge news. I can't think of any big name players whose transfer could be simultaneously huge news and inspire a mixed response. I don't think it is recruiting news. Same principles: anything worth being huge could not inspire mixed reviews, we'd all be uniformly happy (or, I guess, really unhappy if the news was that a big recruit was decommitting). Thus, I'd say it would almost have to be coaching-related. Any movement there would be huge if the personnel in question was important enough (e.g., DC) and would certainly inspire mixed reactions.

That's not it. The Shafer thing, but I have heard that too, I don't know anything about that right now. I'll find out more. But that's not it.

On a side note, being a tease is lame. It's so highschool prissy bitch'ish. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your information and interviews and all the hard work you put in, but you get the point. Moral of the story: No one likes a cock tease.

TomVH

I'm not being a cock tease, and don't appreciate anyone calling me that. I said, something big is going to happen, you'll find out when you do, I'm not answering anything else. Last time I posted information about something I knew happened, everyone freaked out and said I shouldn't have reported it, even though it happened. It takes a lot to get me mad, but maybe the prissy bitch'ish thing to do is call someone a name on a blog for sharing information with you that you otherwise wouldn't have known. Moral of the story: Don't ever call me a cock tease.

Except you didn't actually share any information. You just said something big was going to happen and that some people would be upset and some would be okay with it. I mean, sweet that something is going to happen, but with 0% substance what's the point? Giving a hint and it would be tolerable, at least you offered something. You know, a hint would at least be like OTPHJ, it's not much, but it's better than nothing...(ok, it's worse than nothing most of the time, but bear with me for the analogy). Watch this: "Tomorrow, something huge is going to happen to the stock market. I can't say what, but you'll know when it happens, and some of you will be happy, and some of you won't." I'd laugh at that too btw.

Your example doesn't work - his suggestion of an upcoming event holds weight because he is an insider with good sources. None of these things are true with your stock market hypo - you have no better information than the rest of the world so your prediction is meaningless. Tom is a (paid?) official blogger for this site, so when he says something will happen I will actually take notice. He is cautious for a reason; perhaps you remember the McGuffie debacle? It is in his discretion to decide what to share. Would I like more info such as whether it's positive, a time frame, and other information that doesn't compromise the data but gives us vague indications of what's coming? Sure. But I'll take what I can get. And if gives us something to talk (bitch?) about on the forum. We need that in the premature offseason. Shortened version: stop bitching.
