Jake Rudock struggling with Lions but making progress
Seems like he is getting every opportunity with coach Caldwell.

Never considered Tom Mach to be a great coach. He's got one style of football and almost no willingness or ability to flex. Can't argue with Mach's success, but I'd say John Herrington is a better high school coach.
Somebody is typing 'disrespekt' in EL this very momment.
Like it!
I guess this is not surprising, in that it takes time to learn a new system and it is at the highest level and his first couple of games here he looked a little rusty, HOWEVER, I do expect that he will catch on quickly and become the #2 by season's end!
Guaranteed money is $133K (his signing bonus). If he makes the roster, his total compensation for the year will be $450K + $133K.
If released, he will most likely be a practice squad candidate, making $112K for the year on top of his $133k.
Not bad for a new grad, without any student loans.

There is an interview where Jake said that he is thinking of pursuing an acting career once his NFL career is over. He has worked in some plays and said that he enjoyed it very much.
Acting is challenging and a lot of fun at the same time. I suspect a hell of a lot more fun than being a doctor.
"So I think it's quite understandable that right now he's doing a great job of working extremely hard. He's smart. He's diligent, and he's developing. He's developing physically, which he has to. He's developing mentally because it's a little bit different challenge for him. But he certainly has the wherewithal to be very good in that area."
I sort of figured that there would be a learning curve for Rudock, like most players, but at the same time, it's nice to hear these things from a coach all the same (even if it is a coachspeak-ish sort of reply), particularly the compliments about work habits. Hopefully, we'll get to see him play a few snaps for the Lions.
He will definitely get some reps in the preseason. It will actually make the 2nd half of Lions preseason games interesting and watchable for me.
I expected that Jake would struggle in the beginning of his NFL career. Jake is a very cerebral QB who needs to think things through at every angle before he feels totally comfortable. However once he gets it down he shines. Its a confidence thing. I am the same way in some respects so I think I know his type of thinking and process when learning and mastering new concepts.

Let me just say on behalf of all of us here that we really appreciate the great strides your son made under our program and the invaluable contributions he made to Coach Harbaugh's first year. Truly became one of my favorite Michigan QBs. And always a class act. You should be proud.
I for one am very glad he made the decision to come here as a grad transfer. I can not overstate how big of a help he was. :)
Smart enough kid. He'll carve out a career in the game whether it be on the field or in a different capacity.
PS: I've got a sick authentic Desmond Howard jersey selling for super cheap on eBay right now. Just sayin...

I don't care about Rudock struggaling.
abowt struggaling wifh spellng.
It was a reference to Drunk Joe Namath talking to Suzy Kolber. "I don't care about the team struggaling. ... I want to kiss you right now."
I am aware of the correct spelling, but that's how he says it.
