“It got shoved”

Submitted by TK on November 18th, 2019 at 2:26 PM

One of the Spartys favorite moments was when Dantonio referenced the stake in 2014 by saying it got shoved when he put up a late TD in that game.

The 39 yard TD pass was the moment where we shoved it right back. And this time we don’t need to call and apologize. The antics of the field walk, and wearing the helmets off the bus, cheap gimmicks that don’t work. Just like the stake didn’t work. Feels good to have the shoe on the other foot. So Mork, shove off into retirement now.

I'm sorry but this kind of post is getting old.  It just doesn't warrant a thread and it is starting to make this blog look pretty obsessed.  Just comment in the game wrap on the front page.

And he didn't say "it got shoved," he said it was time to "put the stake in at that point."

Sorry, but there are plenty of people here that still relish this, it's only Monday.  I don't think we are at the point yet where we need the "tsk tsk" quasi-thread moderators with "here's what I want/don't like" just yet.

Your comment really just amounts to one hot-take for another at this juncture.

If you don't like the thread, just move along to a thread you want to read and let some people have a little fun on the forum this week after an epic beat down of our in-state rival with a win that many see as a pretty big milestone for the program.

Next year and from then on with the natural state of things between the two teams restored, we can go back to simply raising an eyebrow at them every once in a while, but this year is different.

ok everybody - if we beat O$U in 2 weeks don't be foolish enough to enjoy and savor it.  Even if you are tired of all the jokes from fans of the team down south.  Your comments that you post will add nothing and somebody might think that they are getting old.

Sure.  Maybe just do it in an existing thread instead of starting one to say something, again, about a comment Dantonio made in a post-game press conference like six years ago.  Like I said, if you look at this Board right now our fan base looks completely obsessed with Michigan State.

If this post is too RCMB like, I apologize. I’ve just seen a lot of whining on Twitter about Harbaugh running up the score with the last touchdown. The irony is that the same people loved it when Dantonio did it.

Yeah, I think this is completely worthy of pointing out.  I looked up the circumstances around that TD.

MSU scored that TD in 2014 when up 17 with just 28 seconds left.  It was scored by their starting RB, who didn't really need to be in the game so clear instance of "running up the score".

The embarrassing thing about it is that they simply ran Langford 7 straight times on that drive for the TD.  Woof.  Crazy to think they were good enough to do that and our defense was bad enough to let it happen.  What a difference 5 years makes.
