It's Groundhog Day... again

Submitted by crg on February 2nd, 2022 at 7:31 AM

Good February morning weather all,

Will Jim Harbaugh see his shadow?

How many recruits will we sign today?

Will we have six more weeks of abysmal 3-point shooting?

Will our Olympians get quarantine lock down in China?

Is Mark still lonely?

Don't drive angry.

Thanks for the upbeat note.

The negativity around this place is pathological.

Fifteen degrees with five inches of snow and 25 mph winds here in the middle of Kansas. Schools all closed. The inbreds out here consider this "end times" stuff.

I've never seen a groundhog out here.

The wood stove is glowing and my wife gets to stay home from work...it's all good.

vlady, i'm jealous of your computer skills but this is nearly as unholy as that one you have of meyer wearing michigan gear.  unfortunately, he's got a real chance to be a viking.  as a minnesotan, what are your thoughts on harbaugh if he does in fact become the vikings coach?

From a sheer buzz level, this news would be on par with Favre's arrival in 2009. I might actually watch Vikings games every week again, and I'm utterly fascinated to see what he decides to do about Cousins.

But my rooting interests will always be Lions first, Jets second. And now I guess Rams third, but just because of Stafford. (Though if I'm being really honest, my all-time favorite football team was the STL Big Red of Hart, Lomax, Dobler, Dierdorf, etc...)

Michigan of course will be fine. My coaching preference would be Campbell, but whoever takes over will face the same expectations and challenges Harbaugh did. It's the nature of the beast.

I fried up some ground hog patty's for breakfast this morning, a couple eggs over easy, toasted a whole grain english muffin and washed it down with a strong cup of coffee..... I could taste everything but the coffee....

I love ground hog..... don't give 1/2 a shit about ground hog day.   Guess what, there will be six more weeks and 4 days of winter.   Because a rodent saw a shadow?   No, because spring starts on March 20th.

This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat.

What a hype.

Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it.

You're hypocrites, all of you.

Groundhog Day and What About Bob are Bill Murray's finest comedic movies.  All due respect to Caddyshack and Ghostbusters which probably made a lot more money.  But I can watch Groundhog Day (no pun intended) and What About Bob on loop and never get tired of them.

How do you pick your favorite child?  Among the comedies:

Groundhog Day

Ghostbusters

Stripes

What About Bob?

Are all tops. I'm in the minority but Caddyshack and Kingpin aren't really my faves. But I can watch pretty much anything with him in it, other than that Jarmusch movie that was unwatchable for me.

Big Ernie McCracken is comedy gold! Sponsored a fatherless family in every tour stop city, won enough to finally be above the law, ask his waitress to wash off whatever hideous perfume she was wearing before she came back to his table.

When he wins the tournament and his combover is about 12 inches above his head... I just dont know how you dont laugh your brains out.

My son was born on Groundhogs Day!  I was in Chicago and went out to start the car around 5:30 am.  It was the kind of cold that sucked the juice out of the car battery.  After a few slow roll overs of the engine, it started.  The dashboard thermometer read -12º F and there was a BIG full moon just above my garage roof.  I remember staring at the moon thinking "I'm going to be a dad today" and not feeling the cold.

I love reliving this memory every year.

I’d hate to see Harbaugh go to the NFL. If we decides that route then Michigan football will have to overcome and find a good HC. If he stays then we can go back to complaining and whatever on this board. Either way the sun will rise tomorrow. Chin up. Go Blue!

Agreed...just want the drama to be over.   Anything Harbaugh gets clicks and usually painted in a negative tone.  Both Michigan and Harbaugh need to be aware of that and avoid dragging things out as best they can in the future.....if at all possible and i know thats a big IF!.

That said per the JUB tweet storm this morning isn't this set up for failure with the Vikings from the onset if there is a minority ownership who just don't want JH around?  Seems like a recipe for failure....why would either side willingly pursue this any further?

If he doesn't get an offer than Warde needs to update the Michigan offer to a market rate ( we can argue what that is) and it needs to include a big fat buyout to avoid these NFL dalliances in the future.....just my 2 cents.
