Insider Credibility

Submitted by Ziff72 on

So my buddy calls me Friday and he tells me that the "insider"(not sure if it was scout or rivals) sent a practice note out that Gallon was taking snaps at qb in a wildcat package and they say the reason is that he runs the read option better than Denard and Tate.

We waste 10 minutes of our companies times debating the validity of this.  We finally settle on this report is insane and makes no sense. Of course that same note was up here and a poster nailed it with with his scout team theory.   Sure enough 2 days later RR tells the media Gallon is the scout  team qb.

How bad do the pay sites look with this info?

1. If their leak actually got to see practice, then he knows nothing about football because they couldn't figure he was on the scout team, if it was told to them 2nd hand then how many other times do they just screw with these guys and send them dog shit.

2. It appears they just made up the part about the read option, because if Gallon never took snaps how is he going to be better than Denard at running it.  What else do they make up?

I know this is just 1 example and everyone makes mistakes, but this is so bad it makes you wonder especially when I look back and I remember hearing about Vlad solidifying the FS position etc in fall practice...

Ran a similar offense as MSU (NTMSU) in High School, he's the Scout team QB because he's simulating Relf..

How did they not get make that connection?

Besides, no one runs the read option better than Denard

sorry, Denard is great, but his fakes on handoff's especially are pretty bad.

That is probably a big weakness of his in my opinion.  He never carries out his fake hand off's well at all.  Very rarely did you see someone go after denard thinking he still had the ball.

His pump fakes are pretty solid at times.

The notes that I read always contained the scout-team to replicate Relf thing.

The pay services do have some good stuff and some good info, but I think people tend to get too wrapped up in all of it.

Gallon is playing the role of MSU's Chris Relf in practice...per Rodriguez presser...so he may not even be on the "scout team" as a QB.

People just freak out and print something like "ZOMG GUYZ, Denard is 3rd string now cause he can't read good!!!"  All because it sells subscriptions.  Worked on me...what a dolt I am.

Haha, you may call them meltdowns but I would say I can look at Michigan Athletics and the fanbase objectively.  I am sure you are referring to the rush the court thread a while back.  I still stand strong on that point.  We rushed the court vs. UConn.  How embarrassing would it have been had we rushed the court against MSU the next game (we nearly did if it wasn't for Peedi's near miss at the end).  We would have been the first fanbase in the history of college basketball to rush the court in consecutive games.  You may call it unpredecented, I call it humiliating.  I was at both games, and did not rush the court of UConn, so I can say that I did not succumb to the mob mentality.

Hypothetically, is it possible that Rodriguez isn't being totally forthcoming about Gallon right now because he doesn't want MSU to be able to prepare for our upcoming super trick gallon wildcat play ("galloncat")?

Let's weigh our options

Option A: "Insider" is a moron who doesn't know that Gallon is running the scout team.

Option B: Rodriguez is trying to install a secret weapon at a practice reporters and other riff-raff are attending.

Hypothetically, either option could be true. I know which one I think is more likely, though.

Clearly, RR is using reverse pyschology. By implementing this "secret" tactic in a practice session that is public, MSU (NTMSU) probably sees Gallon roleplaying as Relf.

He just keeps "raising up" his brilliance.

Gallon does run it better as well. In fact I hope he does and gets a chance.. I think we should run a wildcat (which isn't the spread) some anyway.

My gameplan:

1. Get a shit ton of weapons

2. Use em' all any way possible

God, I'm a genius!

i ain't no coach, but the potential reasons for the gallon snaps aren't earth shattering:

1. Scout team

2. Emergency QB should DRob get injured.  Remember that DG is redshirting.

Every team gives 3 QBs reps, don't they?

Jeremy Gallon ran an option offense in H.S., and there has been some rumor mongering that Tate may not be available for the bowl game, so it wouldn't surprise me to see them trying to get Gallon comfortable to run a few plays in case of emergency so they don't have to burn Devin's shot at the medical red shirt. That is if there is credence to the rumor mongering about Tate.
