You can still see the pain in his eyes when he mentions that Simpson was committed to him at Xavier.  Of course, during the tournament, one of the announcers suggested that Xavier was going to Iowa State before Beilen swooped in.  Personally, I recall he was headed to Wisconsin before switching to Michigan.  Did he make a lot of verbal commitments or just too nice to say no?

Thanks for sharing.  Interesting insight about how he judges whether coaches at this level get it or not as that you can tell Howard gets it by how his players respect him and how they act (looking at others in the eye was mentioned, just as someone said on Twitter the other day).

This coach here is a pro on the microphone. Just a good talker and speaks honestly. Very refreshing. Would love to see one of our coaches to be this polished.

UL opened as 8.5 point favorites, but the way Chris Mack was talking it sounded like we were double digit favorites that they might hope to beat, IF they got lucky.  I was wondering if this was some sort of head game...didn’t seem like it though.

What I really like hearing is how other coaches see the impact JH is making with the team.  I'm no coach but there are two things that have impressed me most:

1) JB's system was primarily to create open looks off the pass.  JH and staff have kept some of that (ergo, open looks from 3 off the pass) but have stepped up the dribble drive game (thus the open lanes and layups that had DICKIE-V-BABY screaming about how mad Few and Huckleberry Hound had to be with their defenses).  That's next level offensive scheme.  Looking at you recruits.

2) On D, they've used zone as the perfect change up during games - seemingly timed perfectly.  Often zone is a "we have to change something" move, but so far, that's not when/how it's been deployed and it's been extremely effective IMO.

Btw, Mack does know one of their national titles is fraudulent, right?
