IMG 7-on-7 Updates

Submitted by MichiganMan2424 on

Today is the IMG 7-on-7 in Detroit. There are a couple players of interest participating for Michigan, including committs Shane Morris and Csont'e York, and target Laquon Treadwell. Also there is 4 star linebacker Jaylon Smith, who has ND, OSU, and USC in his top 3.

There is a thread over on the Blue Board at 247 with Steve Wiltfong giving updates, so I'll link that below. Here's what he's had to say so far:

"Top100 WR Laquon Treadwell is hear rocking a North Carolina shirt. With that being said, I still like Michigan here."

"Just talked to Treadwell. No visit to Michigan today is set in stone."

"MaxEx just beat Core6 22-21 in the most anticipated pool play game of the day.

Michigan commit Shane Morris was fantastic. His favorite targets were Csont'e York, Teo Redding and Jack Wangler.

Laquon Treadwell was really good. Vack shoulder, over the middle, smooth. Also made plays at DB for Core 6."

A couple of notes here:

-MaxEx is the 7-on-7 team that Morris and York plays for and they beat Treadwell's team Core 6 to give some context for the last update.

-Great to see York and Morris working well togthether

-None of the major recruiting sites have Treadwell with a UNC offer, so please don't take too much from the shirt.

Also, just for shits and giggles, if you go to Laquon Treadwell's 247 page and click on all interests, you'll see Michigan in the lead with the interest listed as "warmer." But if you look at who's in last, you'll see Michigan State, with no interest, despite offering him, behind schools like Toledo, who have not even offered Treadwell.

Shirt means nothing. I know almost every kid in my school wears a UNC shirt. Its annoying & you can never get rid of them for some reason.

With 3 good LBs at Cass Tech for '14 and seeing the UM is in on a couple of out of state LBs it is going to be a sqeeze if a player wants in.  I see them taking 2 again in '14.  I assume the coaching staff know they can go be picky at LB with the depth they have from the last 2 classes.

"Top50 2014 LB Clifton Garrett tells me his Core6 team could stop by Michigan tomorrow. They are going to try and reach the coaches.

Garrett also spoke highly of Ohio State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Illinois and Wisconsin. More coming soon."

The Core6 team once again is Treadwell's, so this could be helpful on multiple fronts.

Anyone have an update on how York looks skill-wise? He's an actual commit and is still such an unknown commodity (to me at least). I can't even pronounce his name.

"I thought Shane Morris, Jaylon Smith and Laquon Treadwell all represented themselves well, based on where our national analysts have these guys ranked. Treadwell may even be better. Barton Simmons will get a good look at him next week at the Illinois Nike Football Training Camp.

All the Michigan commits, (Morris, Khalid Hill, Jourdan Lewis and Csont'e York) gravitated towards Treadwell throughout the day to encourage him to join the family. Morris, Hill and Lewis each let me know how good of a player they thought he was to.

Treadwell is a solid route runner, physically impressive, strong hands, and can really go up and get the football. Also played safety and broke up several passes."

There was an incredible amount of praise for LT.  If (and hopefully) he commits to us, Morris and Treadwell coming in may indeed be up there with Henson and Terrell.

Really, a must get for so many reasons.
