I WANT IT SO ? BAD!

I cannot contain my excitement for The Game. As I'm sure all of you do, I want a W against those pricks in Columbus so. bad.

Forgive me if this post is deemed unnecessary, as I really have nothing of substance to add except the declaration of my own desperate yearning for a win against ohio state, and this awesome quote by our own Jim Harbaugh that many of you probably have already read:

“I see it in their eyes,” Harbaugh said. “I hear the power in their voices, I see the confidence in their eyes. I think we’re all feeding off of each other like that. When I look at them, it feels like I’m looking in the mirror. I see the same confidence in them that I’m feeling inside of me.”

The Coach believes. The Team believes. For the love of everything that is good, Michigan needs to win this game! Go Blue 〽️

I lived in Dayton, OH for several years.  Buckeyes everywhere.

But I lived there in the late '80s and early 90s when we were constantly kicking their ass.  That was fun as hell.

The day before the 1986 Michigan - Ohio State "Harbaugh Guarantee" game, somebody hoisted up a huge Block M flag on the flagpole where the corporate flag was usually flown where I worked.  It glowed like the American flag through the smoke at Iwo Jima.  I knew right then and there that we were going to win.

I look forward to that nervous feeling at kick off. That simultaneous feeling of please don't fuck up and also come on LETS DO IT. I'm afraid it might not last long but some years it doesn't even kick in.

We all know how you feel.

Gonna be honest: Been this way for years. And I've been burned.

I'm simply not going to let my life be dominated by this.

We win, we lose. We play. We remember.

Lately - It's sort of like getting a turd for Christmas every year.  You have the anticipation and the buildup.  You run downstairs and see all the decorations - and you get the box out from under the tree with the tension building.  And then you open the box.  Some years smell worse than others; some may even bring tears to your eyes.  But it's still just Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo waiting for you.  I hope someday we can go back to getting oranges.....

I hear you. I’m optimistic but will be wearing an iron jockstrap to numb some of the pain of getting kicked in the balls by 12:30 by a pointed cowboy boot and then repeatedly after. I’m not even on the “this year feels different train”. I learned my lesson after the revenge tour.

Unless Hutch and Ojabo return, next year won’t be any better. This is the year and Saturday is the day.

The best way to slow their offense down is to be able to pressure their QB. They have two wr’s that will be first round picks next spring and a third that has more catches and yards than both of them. I don’t care how good your DB’s are, the only way to stop them is to prevent the ball from being thrown or at least force Stroud to throw it sooner than he would like and with pressure bearing down on him.

Their defense has been steadily improving but they are still leaving the middle of the field open (especially with pa pass) and they play their DB’s back more often than not and the underneath throws are there for the taking. Our offense is built perfectly to attack their weaknesses. We still have to execute and make plays when they’re there to be made, but this is the team and this is the year.

I'm pretty sure that OSU self-scouts-very well...and they know a whole lot more about themselves than "you" know. OSU has had more highly skilled players and have been better coached than Michigan for many years. It is going to require a monumental effort by everyone to break this streak. We get another chance on Saturday.

A while ago, before Boston won any World Series.  Wade Boggs played for both Boston and New York and drew the distinction between the Red Sox and the Yankees.

I'm paraphrasing but he would say something to the effect of "The Red Sox have the need to win.  The Yankees know they're going to win."

It was like that in the 90's for OSU.  Then the script flipped when Steinbrenner bought off Drew Henson.

The fact that their defense isn't very good and our running offense and ball control can keep us in the game. The fact that Hassan Haskins and Blake corum are two Very good running backs who make plays and keep the offense on the field. Cade improving each week with our receivers and All exposing their bad linebacker play. The two best defensive end tandem in the NATION ....idk maybe that....

Honest question. Why do you come here?

Without going into the long litany of reasons this team is 10-1 how about just start with the fact there are only two undefeated teams in all of college football ranked in the top ten and OSU is not one of them.

They actually didn't.  That's a myth.

I'm too lazy to dig for it now, but I did an exercise that tracked Michigan recruiting through the 90s year by year against Ohio State, and we ranked higher than them most years, and significantly higher at QB.

All of those years when we were kicking their asses were because of superior QB play.  While they were trotting out guys like Herbstreit and Stanley Jackson and Bellisari, were were playing guys like Elvis and Brady and Henson.

We will return to beating Ohio State when we return to having superior QB play.

If you back-solve for what actually happened on the field, the team-level recruiting rankings were actually quite good. And indeed, that is what we saw on the field between Michigan and Ohio State.

What Rivals did was add granularity to the individual player level, which helped suss out the difference between "high 3-stars" and "low 3-stars" and so on from the amorphous mass of players who were not readily identifiable as elite slam dunk players.

This is a good point.  They are beating us consistently now because they have higher ranked players pretty much across the board.  It's been this way for many years now.  Their talent pipelines are solid and are a recruiting machine.

But higher ranked players is not the only reason.  This has always been their Super Bowl, as we are MSU's Super Bowl.  And it can be debated that OSU traditionally puts more effort into this rivalry than Michigan does.  But maybe the prep and effort thing will be a wash this season, as we've heard rumblings about preparation for OSU since spring practice.

Who the hell knows what will happen on Saturday?  I've stated consistently that I am not expecting a win.  But I am expecting at least a competitive game, hopefully within two scores.

I'll tell you one thing, I will be really disappointed if I see even 15% of the crowd in red.  Michigan fans need to show up as a vast majority and be really loud for the entire game.
