I know this has been said before, but officiating has never been worse

Wisconsin just got screwed by a terrible call, even the rules guy on air was wrong when he explained. It's simply awful.

b/t the officiating, the reviews, the officiating of the reviews, the commercials, and the inability to FF thru the commercials via DVR/On Demand, games are currently unwatchable for me.

1st Qtr today was 48 mins long. to play 15mins of football. That's not a ratio that I'm willing to deal with.

Nothing will be done. Nothing will ever be done. The game is run by people who don't think quality officiating is worth making a real investment in.

It will never stop until the refs are accountable like everyone else.  They need to be publicly graded like the players.  They are getting paid, the players aren't....that much.

Whoever makes the first website grading refs will get a lot of subscribers.

Replay has just put way too much focus on the refs.  It isn’t any better or worse than it has always been, people just talk about it far more and a lot more of the focus of a game is on the refs.  If they got rid of replay the refs wouldn’t seem like a big deal anymore.

You are probably right, but what if it gets like Ancient Rome? That is what I am calling for at this point. I didn't see the play, but a play that stood out to me today was the incomplete pass by Shea, that was originally called a fumble. The Umpire was staring right at him, as you could see in the replay. It was not close to being a fumble, yet the POS Umpire didn't rule incomplete. I know it was overturned, but that is not my point. Do your damn job man. These people need to be held accountable. Return to the Roman Empire or start taking their paychecks. If I don't perform at my job, I lose money. FUCK all refs.

Yes, John, I do. When their job is on the line to make correct calls, you bet your ass they will make better decisions. There is no accountability for referees. The evidence is pretty obvious, just look at the 2016 game against the Suckeyes. Patting guys on the ass and shit. Come on my man, you can't be serious. Hold them accountable and they will pay attention better. That is being generous. I truly believe that many of them cheat on purpose. Not a ton, but a little call here and a little call there to help sway the outcome to their liking is obvious. It is human nature to favor one side over the other or one person over the other. Refs do it also and if they were publicly graded they would be better cause that would reflect on them a lot more.

My family is a NFL white hat. I can tell you with a 100% confidence they don't give a fuck who wins. Blowing calls isn't ok but they are graded and need to keep a certain standard. It's extremely changing. Try high school football and let me know how easy it is.

disagree re: driving the QB into the ground.  as he makes contact and initiates the push over of the QB it looks like he is intending to do that. but he does not pile drive the QB and in fact goes over the top of the QB's right shoulder and rolls away, no big crush on impact.  it was excellent body control by a big guy and a heads-up play.

That call pissed me off so much.

I was yelling at the TV -- I knew it would have huge impact on momentum of the game.

To me, Michigan seems one of the unluckiest teams I watch.  All teams get bad calls here and there.  Michigan's bad calls are all like a purposeful and surgical excision of a critical element of morale or momentum.

Yes, I know that all this is filtered through my biased perspective.

But I need to rant!

Can’t wait for the refs don’t lose games crowd to show up.  “Listen if Wisconsin would have played a perfect game, they win.”

Officials affect games.

Might be helpful if you posted a little detail about what happened, why it was a bad call, what the explanation was, and why that explanation was wrong. I mean, if you're going to go to the trouble of a post anyway...

twins left, with both X and slot starting out straight.  X's defender basically cuts X off/jams him, and X pushes back, then slides outside a bit.  meanwhile, the ball is thrown to the slot guy who gets the first down.  then doesn't, because of the flag.  as mentioned above, horrible call and even if it is somehow defendable, you can't make that call at that critical time of the game.  candidly, i think oregon got a couple of calls in the 2nd half that benefitted them and they probably didn't deserve.

Wisconsin trails by one and faces a 3rd and 5-ish at their own 30 with only a few minutes left in the 4th.  They convert it by pass, but a ref throws a flag for OPI on another receiver in the area.  It wasn’t a conventional pick play at all, but rather the DB jumped in front of the receiver and he ran into the DB.  It didn’t look like much at all, and shouldn’t have decided the game.

Fair. I was watching Wisconsin/Oregon and in that zone. 3rd and 10, Wisconsin has the ball, they throw it for a 1st down but officials ruled it offensive pass interference. Phantom call, even the normally deferential Herbie disagreed with the rules expert on air who supported the on field officials
