Hutch had a great season but Sauce Gardner is the DROY for me this year.

I'm excited for the future for this team. Get Hutch a rushing partner or an interior presence and the DL is set for the foreseeable future. Still need secondary help and maybe a linebacker to give coach Glenn all the tools he needs.
Offense is strong for now. Lots of young talent to develop. Add one more interior lineman and they're golden.

James Houston may already be the rushing partner that Hutch needs. Not that I would complain if Will Anderson fell to #6 - can't have too many Edges.
Would love to see a big time interior terror alongside a shut down CB with the two 1st round picks.

Lions need a RB. Swift is injury prone.
Bijan would be perfect.
February 9th, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
He would be gone at 18 and no way do I want to spend a Top-10 pick on a RB - the least valuable position in all the NFL (well, minus specialists I suppose).
February 9th, 2023 at 12:51 PM ^
I think he could make it to 18 and still makes me nervous drafting RBs that high.
February 9th, 2023 at 11:36 AM ^
Most years, it would be Hutch, but Gardner has to be the guy with Hutch the clear #2.

Sauce stats don’t match up to Hutch’s. Hutch has 3 INTs as a DE. That’s unbelievable.
Lions starter out from a deeper hole than the Jets. Sauce has more around him than Hutch.
February 9th, 2023 at 12:10 PM ^
Stats are misleading for DBs. Not fair to judge Sauce based on that. Amani Oruwariye was at or near the top of the league in INTs a year ago, now he might get cut from the team.
February 9th, 2023 at 12:32 PM ^
When a DB is doing their job perfect, nobody throws their way for them to rack up stats.
Personally, I think stats like "Detroit did not throw towards Gardners side of the field a single time the entire game" are the biggest stats a DB can have. He wasn't targeted often, and when his player was they didn't catch it often. Dude's a beast and it's OK to say it.

I appreciate that, but Sauce had more around him than Hutch had. Hutch was on a bad/young defense that still needs significant talent infusion to be in Jets category. He made a huge impact.
Both metro Detroit born players are going to be very good for a long time in this league.

Sauce is maybe the most overrated player in the entire league already. He just commits pass interference and dares the refs to flag him. Reminds me a lot of the way MSU DBs played under Dantonio.

Edit: Because the way this cascaded it's impossible to tell who i've meant this for so basically anyone that would put Sauce Gardner in front of Hutchinson is who this is intended for.
Go Blue! Go Hutch!

Y’all are negging a guy for respectfully sharing their opinion on an NFL award? Yeesh.
February 9th, 2023 at 11:24 AM ^
Well deserved. Glad the Lions went with Hutch instead of the alternatives. Also a big thanks to Trent Baalke.
February 9th, 2023 at 11:36 AM ^
Well deserved. Can’t wait to see his Super Bowl commercial. Or serious Tommy Boy vibes watching it.
Bet the Jags are kicking themselves for letting Hutch slip through their fingers.
February 9th, 2023 at 11:56 AM ^
Awesome he at least won this. It's too bad he came into the league the same year as the best cornerback in the sport.

Love that line from Eddie Murphy but I fail to see how it applies to this thread. Seems a bit ironic that it pertains more to you than the OP. :D

Coke / Pepsi (given sponsorship of the award).
But, who knows what goes through the mind of evil clowns.
February 9th, 2023 at 12:50 PM ^
Yeah, I was just wading into the Coke vs. Pepsi debate.

Wait. I read somewhere he was a bust.

The official title is The Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year.
Kind of like President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho

I don't know how. The guy sucks, was a terrible pick by the Lions, and he only won this because of the Blue Wall.

That's great, unfortunately Sauce (Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. HS) will probably win this going away.
If Hutch wins the Nikelodeon DROTY award will they pour slime on him?
February 9th, 2023 at 12:40 PM ^
Win what going away..Hutch won the award voted by fans..Not so sure why people have to bring up Sauce when you should be happy that Hutch won an award voted by the fans.
February 9th, 2023 at 1:06 PM ^
I only voted about 100 times, so it's nice to see he won it! Congratulations!

I don't always drink *pop* but when I do it won't be a shitty Pepsi.
February 9th, 2023 at 7:37 PM ^
He’s JJ Watt level. 3 picks? 9.5 sacks? Constant impact. The dude looks like he knows the play before it happens. Drops into coverage on PA (3 picks!) and then can motor through a tackle any play. He’s an unreal talent and I really hate that part of CFB (losing your best guys at their prime).
