Maybe a Power 5 DL coach.

I would be more than happy if he were the replacement for greg madison if he ever retires. Think of the recruiting talent Hoke brought in at the position, he is a good line coach and a very good recruiter. Maybe a quality control guy like Saban does with former USC head coaches so they are ready to replace the next coordinator that gets a head coach. They are in place and know the system so there is no slow down in the process.

He's good but not good enough.

I'm not sure how much the technique/responsibilities of a defensive line have changed since then. Mattison is still going strong as a DL coach.
I think Hoke is qualified to be a DL coach here but it would be a bit awkward to have him around again when he was recently our head coach. Maybe in five years.

Nice guy, history with the program, good recruiter,
experienced DL coach are all good attributes.
It's the current drive, edge and mind-set of Harbaugh's
staff that must not be tainted by a less driven
nice guy mentality on the staff.
Everyone is carefully picked and put in
place for optimum success. There is no
room for Hoke and his way here, great guy
but there are much better options for us.
A lot of his decisions in his time here still
piss me off to no end.

Maybe a Power 5 DL coach.
Definitely that. But he also did pretty well as a HC at San Diego State and Ball State.
I don't know that the door is completly locked for him to be a HC at a lower lavel.
He needs to get under the radar and get out of P5 . . . go back to his happy niche.

He's a good guy who has done what most of us have tried - to work hard and keep moving up the ladder. Sadly, people fail all the time (see: the Peter Principle) and that's crappy for them. Hoke has gotten in over his head probably and should probably drop down a level or two to where he really fits.
Just because he makes a lot of money makes no sense. Maybe you're in over your head at a job making $30,000/year. A lot of people in the world living on less than $2/day would say the same about you. Doesn't mean we can't empathize with someone struggling with a job they're not cut out for

there is a medication for that. Trust me, the blue pill works!

than us?" means? Why did Harbaugh go there post a loss to the Seahawks in Chris Borland's last game?
Hoke is not a tragic hero here...please. No one should feel sorry for Brady Hoke.
I don't get your viewpoint.

Their defense was bad last year, and they lost all of their better players including DeForest Buckner. They don't have the talent and experience to be good this year in any case.

The thing is that he was reasonably successful as a head coach prior to coming to Michigan. I wonder if he lost his confidence with his firing. Brady's a great guy, though he failed miserably with us. I hate to see him do so badly. Maybe he does need to go back to a DL position and regroup his career.

I'm not sure his HC record has much to do with what he's doing right now. This is the first time he's ever been a coordinator of any kind. He got hired by a P-5 program with no experience whatsoever and it's showing.

He was a historically average coach at both BSU and SDSU.

but it's looking more and more like Richrod has been overrated as a head coach and spread guru. He lit it up in the crappy Big East and took down some giants when the spread was still a new thing. Now that it seems like everyone has done it, it seems like the game has passed him by. He's really done nothing since leaving WVU and will probably find himself coaching a mid-major school soon

A lot of Arizona fans are frustrated with RR. Whether that's justified, I don't know, but there is grumbling out there.

What a revelation that when a team has a bad year some of the fans turn on the coach. You should check out the relationship between Michigan BB fans and John Beilein.
