Is Hoke negatively recruiting?
Got me, I was ready to flame.... Then I read and I was like OICWHATUDIDTHERE.
Shhh....
Don't tell the Bucknuts...it will destroy their faith.
Good old belief in the absence of knowledge. It's a Bucknuts specialty.
...is another one they seem to pledge too.
"Snitches get stiches"
"Only Tressel knew about Tatgate"
"Gene Smith is an upstanding, ethical man"
I do wonder what their response will be to this article. If anybody has access, please let us know. It should be entertaining.

"Traiter!" (sic)
Isn’t a Bucknut one step below a Strawman?
Not thread worthy but FWIW Jordan Diamond tweeted a little while ago today that he is "Thinking about killing all the drama"
FWIW, he could very easily also be talking about something between his friends....
That's why I said FWIW, I never said he was commiting just thought it was interesting
Telling
I'm just messing around. THanks for sharing with everyone, because it most likely does relate to him and his "decision".
That's why I said wasn't it. Flight of the Concords anyone?
It was something like but not necessarily Schindler's List...

With the name "Business Time" it seems like it was your duty to catch a Flight of the Conchords reference.
He's adjusting his schedule for his senior year, and he's decided to drop his Drama class for an Econ elective.
Econ elective? Really? I was hoping for something much more festive and fun for his senior year. Advanced Team Sports perhaps?
He's gonna kill it in a good way and pursue a career in acting?
Since play performances always conflict with football games, to say nothing about practice.
I was about to go on a rant when I saw your title and figured you had been sipping some of that bucknuts Koolaid and then I read it and was like.. O not what I was expecting it to say. Your pulling a page out of scouts books by having a very interesting title And then it being not what you expected.
You should work for the free press: you make headlines that get the attention of many readers but you actually have substance and evidence!
You realize that second part is exactly the reason he can't work at the freep right?

You're right, his thoughtfull, well reasoned style of reasoning has no place at that establishment.
I'm pretty sure every "story" about Hoke negitivley recruiting has been written by a staff writer at Bucknuts. So, yeah, pretty much useless.
Wouldn't they need to achieve literacy in order to have staff writers over there?
From everything ive heard Hoke is not into negative recruiting. But if he could negatively recruit succesfully i would not care at all. As long as we end up with top talent, I dont care how it got here (of course nothing against the rules). With that said I dont think negative recruiting is the way to go, and neither does Hoke.
Do you work in politics by chance?
I don't. I'm not advocating for Hoke spreading rumors like "Luke Fickel has anal cancer and will die before you graduate" or "Bret Bielema likes having sex with dead girls". But I don't see what's wrong with suggesting to say a star qb recruit considering PSU and OSU to try and think of the last guy they put in the league.
That stuff is okay. It's when people say things like CRAIG JAMES KILLED FIVE HOOKERS that things get a little out of hand
I heard Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU. It's just rumors, of course.
Update: Ace Williams confirmed it.
Wow, I heard it wrong. I didn't think it was Craig James who killed the five hookers. I thought it was Craig James who said someone killed five hookers. As in, "ESPN just reported that Craig James said Mike Leach killed five hookers." Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Don't get caught with a dead girl or a live boy....
We're Michigan. And if it sounds arrogant, sorry. We're Michigan.

I love that this is positively rated as "redundant." Please nobody change that.
There isn't a need to negatively recruit when you can truthfully say. "You may be able to do as well, but you can't get any better than Michigan"
if its true. why should hoke refrain from saying "ohio state is going to sanctioned like mad" when they probably are going to get sanctioned like mad. it's how sales works and he's selling the football program
Eh, well negative recruiting can bite you in the ass down the road if you aren't careful with what you say. Pointing out that another team is real deep in a certain position, and playing time is more available at your school isn't negative recruiting in my opinion, even though some people feel it is. But, as someone here posted a while back, imagine such a conversation between Hoke and Recruit X who is also considering OSU, in which Hoke promises OSU will get smashed by the NCAA. Recruit X commits to UM because he doesn't want sanctions against him. Then if OSU gets off scott-free, Recruit X comes back to Hoke and says "what the hell coach. You lied to me." That's the kind of stuff that can bite you in ass and hurt you down the road in recruiting. And it's something I think Hoke is smart enough avoid.
And for all those wondering, yes, Recruit X is a class of 2013 silent commit that was attending prep school at Xavier's School for the Gifted.
He doesn't have to say it because everyone already knows it. Better to stay on the high road and not risk having what you say come back at you later.
Today's H.S. players and their parents are much more savvy than yesteryear. If they hear our team's coaches badmouthing another team, it can come off like "Hmmm, maybe their program isn't so good if they have to resort to negative recruiting against the other school'. Michigan doesn't have to do that kind of shit. We have a tremendous product to sell and Coach Hoke knows it. Besides, negative recruiting is likely in the long run to attract the wrong kinds of players - IMO. For one thing, if they're easily swayed by a bunch of BS that really doesn't pertain to our school, what else are they likely to get talked into? Accepting cars and tatoos for autographs? No thank you.
Thanks for sending the link. This definitely reaffirms what I already believed about Coach Hoke.
Pointing to a newspaper and saying "see" doesn't strike me as negative recruiting. That's what always drove me crazy about the Bucknut stories with Hoke. Hoke doesn't need to talk down other programs - he's the coach of the University of Michigan, the winningest program in CFB history and one of the best sports programs in the world. If a kid wants to go here, he'll go here because Hoke talked up the virtues of the school and the team, not because he pointed out that OSU is in a world of hurt because their coach was a liar.

Ohio always negatively recruits Michigan, so of course they think Michigan is doing the same, because it's all they understand. Besides, it sure sounds a lot better than "we got caught cheating and kids are leaving so fast it seems like Moses is coaching in Ann Arbor right now."
