Hockey Ticket Info @ND Next Weekend/Michigan Sweeps Ohio State Snow(flake) Spray

Submitted by rob f on February 19th, 2022 at 11:39 PM

I just took a look at the ND athletic dept website and there's still SRO tickets available for both the Friday and Saturday games, $22 each. If you prefer to have a seat, StubHub and other resellers also have tickets available (StubHub starts at $36 plus fees).

Let's get some Maize and Blue support going for our skaters next weekend in South Bend as they go for their first B1G regular season championship ? in the 9 seasons since we left the CCHA!

Helluva shutout tonight---How SWEEP it is!

Also:  Go Finland!

Olympic Gold at stake, right now Finland and Russia are tied 1-1 with 6 minutes remaining in the 2nd period.

The game is live on the USA Network.

Apparently Urban Meyer called Chris Holtmann to congratulate him after beating Michigan the morning after the game recently. Will Lloyd call Mel tomorrow morning and do the same?

general question for those of you that have seen michigan play a lot more hockey than i have this year (basically, all of you).  i know we dropped a couple of OT losses at home to ND back in november.  i remember the comment about ND's style of play is very difficult for our team to handle.

so my question is simply this:  what, if anything, has changed that makes us more optimistic for this coming weekend's series down in south bend?  i know in general we've been playing well, we're on an 8 game win streak, and we get our olympians back, all of that is good.  but we had a lot of that same momentum and were something like 10-2 coming into that november weekend but dropped both games at home to the fig-things.   as they say, i'll hang up and listen.

and yeah, as robf says, everybody buy tickets and flood that arena with wolverines!

Since that dreary weekend in South Bend, Mel’s team has followed it’s typical second half trajectory, primarily denoted by much greater coherence between coaching staff and players.  It’s been on display the last 8 games

 - fewer defensive zone breakdowns and turnovers

 - better puck control in the offensive end leading to greater pressure

 - better goaltending from (what looks to me) better communication between goalie and defense

The 10-2 record prior to ND had a lot of tomato cans on the schedule, the last 12 games have been through the B1G, most notably Minnesota and OSU (both sweeps).  There is no doubt that we’re a much better team now.  OTOH, we still have problems with taking stupid penalties and ND has become a better team themselves over the same stretch.  Their deliberate and physical play has always been a problem for us, but we typically handle it a little better in the second half of the season.  Should be a good series.

And for those of you interested in those SRO tickets at ND, I believe they are just about the best tickets in the house. The actual seats at Compton are super narrow, and those SROs are at the top of the lower bowl, on the concourse. Great view, and there is a small little countertop thing you stand along and can place food and drink, or lean on.

Concessions are back open at ND, and make sure to bring a mask.
