The hits keep coming: Boise St passes Michigan in all time Win %
With Michigan's loss yesterday and Boise St's win, Boise St is now the all time leader in win percentage in college football history:
Boise St's football program began in 1933.

I truly don't care.
Maybe clinging to these sorts of things is a symptom of the underlying problem that has us in the current position we are in right now.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
You have enthusiasm unknown to man. ;-)
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
Yup. I don't know why anybody should give one shit about all time winning percentage or all time total wins. The teams of the past don't win you games on Saturday. Bo Schembechler and Field Yost don't win you games on Saturday. Live in the present and focus on the current state of the program. The rest is bullshit.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
Tradition is a central part of the game. If you think it is bullshit then you should stop watching.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:14 PM ^
It's what drew me to Michigan football, and it's great to be proud of it. But it's not what's on my mind as I'm watching our team get annihilated by one that has inferior talent.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
If you think that the program's history is more important than the present then you should stop watching and just read history books. History is nice trivia, but you can't shape your future around it.
The ironic thing about Michigan football is that for 50 years its been constantly talked about and shaped around Bo, the man whose words were "No man is more important than the team."
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
also literally everyone has sepia tinged memories of the Bo glory years that do not in any way comport with reading the history books.
like in Bo's entire tenure he never had a 1 loss season wherein more than three Big Ten teams won 6 conference games. He never coached a team to a top 5 ranking when competing against more than 4 conference teams with winning records overall. This is not meant to be a pro-Harbaugh sentiment, but you could probably compile an amazingly disappointing statline on Bo's record vs ranked teams.

It’s the only thing you guys have at this point, or had.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
This guy gets it.
people only care about this shit because they don't have anything worth caring about
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:09 PM ^
Untrue...Alabama fans care about tradition and history, as do Ohio State fans. Some people are sour so the narrative for them is "I live in the present, who cares about those stats?" Fine, don't care about the stats; but don't act like these things don't matter for college football. Otherwise, let's just get rid of the band, the M-Club banner, etc. and fully turn it into the NFL minor league.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:47 PM ^
Alabama and OSU care about national titles, playoff appearances, etc. I have a good feeling OSU fans have never given one thought about all time win percentage or all time wins.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:55 PM ^
But what about Sparty? I'm sure they have huge chips on their shoulders at being overlooked on this list.
September 22nd, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:00 PM ^
It’s actually important. Showing sustained success is a measure of excellence. To say that it doesn’t matter is...something.
I don’t know why you people are Michigan fans.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:29 PM ^
Lame-ass avatar checks out.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Michigan doesn't have sustained success. If you think that they do then you're still living in the past.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
I don’t know man. I mean who cares about winning % prior year 2000.

September 22nd, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
Exactly. The mindset is indefensible. Cannot argue with the argument from rivals about the majority of this happening before the World Wars.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
Maybe clinging to these sorts of things is a symptom of the underlying problem that has us in the current position we are in right now.
What? How? This is a ridiculous statement. Provide an actual tangible action that supports this ridiculous statement.
How do fans (FANS) boasting about the all-time win percentage literally effect the on-field product. People still give a boat load of money. People still fill the stadium. We still have top-notch facilities. We are willing to pay for a top-level coaching staff. Our history allows us to recruit at a level not commensurate with our recent success.
So what is "clinging to these things" and what is the literal effect of that clinging?
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:38 PM ^
I chose my words carefully. I didn't say the clinging was the problem. I said it's a symptom of the underlying problem.
It's okay to have those things and use them as a recruiting tool. But this institution seems to rely too heavily on its past. Sure, the fans have no impact on the games, but the culture is driving this mentality.

Spencer Hall once described Michigan as being a very traditional program that was entirely about blue haired old people bragging that they've been in the same section of Michigan Stadium for 75 years. It was an incredibly true statement
Our entire program is built on old upper middle class people driving to Ann Arbor from suburban Chicago every weekend to mindlessly 50 year old Bo Schembechler quotes to one another. We have the only fan base of any major team in the country where there are a plurality of people who prefer playing at 12 p.m. to playing at night largely because it's either more traditional or more efficient for doing things other than watching football depending on who you talk to. This blog, which used to advocate for esoteric playoff proposals and radical spread offenses, eventually aged into a decade-long crusade against piped in rap music at our hallowed stadium. Our elderly fans have refused to adopt student-led chants and dances even after decades, in spite of almost 15 years of university encouragement we can't get anyone outside the student section to commit to a maize out.
Michigan football is an heirloom. It's like one of those legacy railroads. You come to a game and think "wow, so this is what football was like before anyone cared about winning national championships". If you think Michigan being a Wisconsin level program is a bad thing, and I don't necessarily think that, then yes part of the problem is the obsessive focus on meaningless things like all-time winning percentage and having the largest stadium.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:53 PM ^
Well said, clinging to the past to excuse the present.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:23 PM ^
Ah.
There were so many posts yesterday it was lost in the shuffle. I did check if it had been posted.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
This is old news quit bringing it up.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
Let me guess. Osu will get to 1000 first.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
If Zach Smith ever decides to spill it, OSU's number will go down by about 80.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
Guys, Keith Jackson has died.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
Honestly, I'm glad Keith Jackson wasn't alive and calling that game yesterday. It would have made it even more embarrassing for him to see it. It would have been like having one of your parents see you get your ass kicked all over the place.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
Do NOT even joke about Keith Jackson.
Saturday was bad enough, I don't need any more surprises.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:55 PM ^
Michigan played like shit, god damn.
Oh, the mic was on? Sorry folks.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
God this is gonna be a long fuckin week/season
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:15 PM ^
Don't watch. It's a good way to not fret over a game.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
Who cares? Look at their fucking schedule this year. We'd be 12-0 playing their schedule.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:03 PM ^
I wouldn't be so sure of that based on the MTSU game
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:32 PM ^
Nobody gives a flying fuck about Group of 5 schools.
They've played a fraction of the amount of games that we have and play against the likes of Fresno State and Wyoming. Fuck off with this shit. Pick Six previews has a hard on for bashing us.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:51 PM ^
U mad?
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:57 PM ^
Teams 3-7 on that list are Power 5 schools and will likely pass us based on our current trajectory.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:36 PM ^
Didn't happen during Rich Rod and won't happen now. Won't happen in win percentage or all time wins.
Keep your bponing to yourself.
September 22nd, 2019 at 11:43 PM ^
That’s only because our percentage drops so slowly due to the huge denominator.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:01 PM ^
Cool story bro.
Most of Michigan's wins came at the turn of the century against nobody teams. You, the University PR, and 72 other people care about this stat.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Reap what you sow.
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:51 PM ^
_______ has a hard on for bashing us = I'm dismissing this because I don't like what they're saying.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
1. Posted yesterday
2. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE OVERALL WINNING % AND FOR THAT MATTER THAT MICHIGAN AS THE ALL TIME WINS!!!! I WOULD TRADE 400+ WINS FROM THE PAST FOR 5 WINS SINCE I HAVE BEEN A FAN (Desmond striking the pose).
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
The real problem is that in 20-30 years (if not sooner), OSU will be the winningest program of all time, and it will stay that way. Alabama also has a good chance at this.
September 22nd, 2019 at 11:35 PM ^
Actually, OSU is two games back from passing Michigan on winning percentage. It may very well happen this season sadly.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:48 PM ^
WD spills tears into his bowl of Fruit Loops. Sane fans shrug.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:56 PM ^
I like Boise State.
