Help with a Notre Dame arguement
I'm having an arguement with some of my friends who are nd fans, they claim Michigan and Rodrgiguez runs too loose a program. Now obviously i know they're full of it, but I could use some instances of Notre Dame players getting in trouble if anyone can think of any. Between Stonum's supsension and Boren leaving, they claim Rodriguez runs a loose program.

There's always Jimmah and his underage drinking prowess...

There was Weiss saying publicly "to hell with Michigan" or are you looking for players only. I can't think of any off hand but I think that is because they are insignificant to me. I don't even give them the time of day. Sorry about that. I know Holtz always ran a very tight ship, but I have not followed anything they did since he left.
Holtz was doing great at ND until the book "Under the Tarnished Dome" came out. It really made Holtz look like a major prick.
The worst charge was that Holtz wouldn't talk to injured players or even acknowlege their presence until they were healthy enough to play because they were worthless to him if they couldn't play.
Recruiting seemed to suffer a bit after that revelation, and Holtz was gone in a couple of years.

I lived in South Bend for the last 18 years. Jimmy Clausen had an underage drinking, one of the tight ends had a D.U.I. Mike Golic's son was one of the guys that got caught with alcohol that was with Clausen.

I'm not sure how Boren's transfer even relates to a "loose program." But if they really think it does, then what about the slew of transfers from ND during Weis's reign?
And in-season transfers should count for double- I believe there have been several, but the only one I can recall is Demetrius Jones.
Regardless, arguing with other fanbases about this kind of thing is rather pointless. Most people have their biases towards or against certain teams or schools, and will never, ever be dissuaded. You might as well argue with a wall.

on the morning of the Michigan game in '07, putting JC in the shotgun spread to hilarious effect. Demetrius something. Your friends will probably remember his last name.

How does a player (Stonum) getting suspended translate into RR running a "loose" program? Do they think it have been better for RR to look the other way and keep playing him?
Come on buddy!
They've had a few booze-related issues, as have we. They're actually generally pretty well-behaved. The only evidence of our program being "loose" is Grady and Stonum - which are booze related.
If they haven't brought up Butler's right hook during the Notre Dame game last year they aren't very good fans.
You could point your friend here:

(Four!)
Call this rumor status, but Jimmah going to student court because of a supposed theft of a bicycle of another student after a practice in the summer of '07 got swept under the rug nicely.
I got that from a local sportswriter that was not allowed to put it in his newspaper.
JC stole my bike too
Kid can't get enough bikes
But there was the whole cheerleader lesbian/group sex/peeping tom scandal that went down there a few years ago...
Sorry, but I don't care enough to find a link for you.
