That birth year doesn't seem right. He wasn't even alive when Charles Woodson was playing for Michigan.
I know Charles played offense, defense and special teams but I did not know he played hockey too. Damn that man has skilz.
He may not have been alive for when Hit Me Baby One More Time came out!?
1998? holy crap...
I was two decades old when this most recent hockey committ was born, but it seems like I am starting to wander into that territory for basketball, and we're at a point now where even the football recruits were born during the time I was at Michigan. I realize that I am not the oldest on the board by far, but it's strange to me to see us getting very close to classes that will have never lived a moment in the 20th century, as someone mentioned below.
It's only a matter of time till we get our first 2000-born commit
I'm old.
Welcome aboard young man, look forward to seeing you play. Wow, my youngest kid is older than him. Seems old UnkleBuck is, well...old.
and would love some more info on the lad. he's not that young. i was only 17 when i started playing at michigan. youngest, smallest guy out there (just about to get a growth spurt) and man i took some crud for that my first training camp, especially when all the other guys started losing weight and i started to gain weight and grow.
i still remember dave richter (aka: magic) 'counseling' me while we were doing the shadow drill one of our first on-ice practices at yost. i was all full of piss and vinegar like any kid would be. magic tells me, 'hey, rookie, slow down. this can be alot like work, eh.' i have used that line for 35 years.
High skill, high motor forward. Strong work ethic and effort level. He's 5'6 but plays much bigger.
Lockwood went to NTDP camp last week with the the top 98's in the US and more than held his own.
delete double post, slow computer.
Sounds like you're still full of piss and vinegar. Slow down rook.

after all these years! kidding of course. actually, magic was more like our enforcer, remembering at that time a 6' 4" 235 lb defenseman who could skate and had very good hands was a freak back then. he was also a solid guy though, never a schlong. lot of talent on that team, myself excepted.
All of my children are older than that. Yikes.
Love the name. Yeah, Will.
Joe Lockwood (born 1965), was part of Berenson's first freshman recruiting class at Michigan--he played from 1984-88.

Anybody know if they are related? Joe was from Milford, so it's at least a possibility. In 1985, Joe Lockwood scored the winning goal against the Spartak team from Moscow in a December exhibition game--possibly the most memorable moment from Michigan hockey in the 1980s.

(If that photo had gone up to row 10, you would see me in the crowd).
A legacy recruit, Lockwood's father Joe played for Red Berenson from 84-87. He joins Griffin Luce, James Sanchez and Luke Martin as Michigan's four 2016 commits. All four players were at NTDP camp.
Red's still got the touch. Welcome Will!!
