Hello Vladimir Emilien

Submitted by umfan on
Vladimir Emilien has committed. I'm glad we have a good safety. Right now I don't like our starting safety. Maybe this guy can take over. Scout said he decided three weeks ago and told GoBlueWolverine last night. Any thoughts, comments? How good do you think this guy will be.

He's supposed to be pretty good but he busted his knee (ACL I think) and hasn't played all year. There were a lot of other big time schools going after him even after the injury, including OSU. It looks like he'll be the second best safety in the 2009 class next to Turner, although Turner may move to LB according to some people on this site.

Hold one one second. This might be premature. I'm talking to him right now, and he told me he didn't tell GBW that last night, and had no idea what I was talking about. He hasn't started his press conference yet. So we'll see if it matches up with their prediction.

I like the looks of our defensive class....especially in Big Will rejoing the fold.....even so, I think Vlad and the others should give the coaches a bit more options at position of needs. I know he had a knee injury which knocked him down a peg as far as ratings go...but, this kid is a player and a big hitter. Welcome aboard!

I really want him to come to UM, because I feel like he will have innate motivation to truck motherfuckers so that he can earn the nickname. Vlad, just think of how annoying it will be to Big 10 fans when Musburger calls him the impaler like 25 times per broadcast. It'll be our answer to "did you know that Laurinaitis' dad was a wrestler? It's true! Here's a picture!"

I'm pretty sure that Vlad is Adewale Ogunleye's doppleganger. It's freaky how much those two resemble each other. Look it up - it'll help pass the time. Yes, I'm getting a little antsy here, waiting to hear for the official answer from Tom.

The guy has great speed and can really hit. Two things that our safteys dont have now ha! So it looks like this for us next year at safety...Steve Brown. SR(who knew but he was highly recruited 4* guy....,Brandon Smith. Soph(Decently high 4*), Michael Williams. Soph(solid 4*), Justin Turner. FROSH(very high 4*), Vladimir Emilien. FROSH(solid 4*)but coming back from knee surgery, J.T. Floyd. Soph(Med 3*), Thomas Gordon. Frosh(med 3*). Atis Chambers(Low 3*,transfering), Charles Stewart(3* graduating). All i can see us going up, way up in my opinion. All Smiles here.

Quoting Brabbs: "Vlad, just think of how annoying it will be to Big 10 fans when Musburger calls him the impaler like 25 times per broadcast. It'll be our answer to "did you know that Laurinaitis' dad was a wrestler? It's true! Here's a picture!"" While is name is great, we will be hearing this far too often if the young man lives up to our hopes for him.

Brown has can hit and speed (not Harrison speed -- he and Trent were generally talked about as the fastest guys on the team). His issue is that there is a difference between hitting and tackling. Just like Thompson who can hit, but is a very poor tackler.
