This is the truth my friend. Doom and gloom begets doom and gloom as long as it’s peddled, until some brave soul decides to walk in the opposite direction and says, “fu@k you and your ‘realism’ , I’m going to choose to see the bright side and will eventually prove you wrong, and you will then be the one with a choice to make”.

But this spitefulness is directly adding more gloom. This is debbie downer saying "yeah this is great news! But remember that other fans were really negative about this, so you know, we're not actually all on the same team, and only those of us who had the right attitude before now should fully enjoy this"

Yes, I am saying that.

The doom and gloom leading up to today was based in NOTHING.  We had objective reasons for optimism.

Imagine if you were psyched about going to watch Michigan play a game against a patsy (say, WMU), and you had to spend the entire day before with a "fan" who was all "Michigan is probably going to sh** the bed.  Tomorrow is going to absolutely suck!"  That's essentially what this week has been like.

I'm sure you saw what happened last year and you saw us lose to sparty this year.  Everyone who felt down about the state of the program had more than NOTHING to base their feelings on.  Hell, I graduated from a grad program at Michigan in this century and have had a million reasons to question the likelihood of sustained success.  That doesn't mean I'm not thrilled with things right now and it also doesn't mean that anyone that feels similarly owes anyone else an apology.

All week?  That’s just a fabricated lie so you can tell everyone how smart you are.  There wasn’t anything negative until some things started looking dicey last NIGHT.  And yeah, a couple starz lovers started crying, but there certainly wasn’t an epidemic of it.  You’re just being an ass right now.

I think it all depends on perspective and critical thinking in how you choose to see the most recent era of Michigan Football. Doom and gloomers like Brandon Brown, and people that generally just decided they don’t like Jim Harbaugh have a very narrow perspective, and likely are relatively small minded but they say enough entertaining things to get us to listen….but they aren’t critical thinkers, and don’t take a bigger step back and look at other blue blood programs who have become coaching/player performances graveyards because they fire every coach after 3-5 years of not being Nick Saban, forgetting we were on the precipice of becoming just that before Jim Harbaugh came and made us into a real program….and they fail to see that OSU is better than they have ever been on their own storied history in the last 6-7 years, and it takes time to make up for lost time when you aren’t using bagmen and win at all costs methods….simply no broad perspective.

I don't have a problem with it. I'm not likely to make one, but I'm not going to tell Cousin Larry to "Get out of town" either.

When is the appropriate time to make a post like this?  In two days when it's REALLY not topical or timely?

"The everything is terrible", "signing day is a disaster," "Michigan sucks at NIL", posts are still fresh. You can't argue with those idiots in the moment, they're too busy rending their garments to think rationally. So, maybe a few reminders immediately after the fact will cause one person (is that optimistic?) who probably should take a pass on National Signing Day and go outside and play with their friends, or ride a bike, or something else, to think twice about all their doom posting?

Again, it's probably optimistic. But Larry seems to be enjoying himself today, I'm glad to see it. Keep it up, tell Balki I say hi. It's much better than the sad sacks that seem to live to come on here and post every terrible neurotic sports thought that comes crashing into their brains.

Way to go Cuz. Call them out. Some of the posts last night and earlier today sounded like we are going to have a terrible day.

Having said that, I am happy now and would love to cherish the moment and move on. Just a reminder to myself that the doom and gloom people and posters need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Other than scholarship limits, I don’t think a freshman is going to make enough impact on the defensive line for it to matter about whether to pursue someone from the transfer portal.  If you don’t have sufficient depth, you go after a grad transfer, regardless of recruits.

That said they probably have enough depth with guys who will be in their second and third years next year.
