I don't know what's happening with front page content. Maybe HTTV is just killing them this year due to lack of any info on the team at all (no spring practice, no news from practices, new defense that is a complete unknown, etc). Maybe it's being an especially tough beast to tackle this year?

That combined with Ace's departure and Brian's nosedive into BPONE probably makes producing content in general tough

I don't know what's happening with front page content.

Brian is too busy writing about how depressed he is about Michigan football.  And also about how him punching 14-year-olds is a good excuse for Frank Clark beating women.

They always use HTTV as an excuse. M&B and Rivals put MgoBlog to shame as far as content is concerned. I come here for the message boards, not front page content anymore which is sad  ?

MgoBlog used to be the best out there but it has been a few years.

I know people are busy with HTTV but can we at least get a "Player X has committed to Michigan" Post?  Poor Aaron Alexander had to wait 2-3 days to get anything on the front page.

Denegal and Henry seemed a bit "sudden" but It was basically known Lorenzetti and Alexander were going to drop for days prior to the actual commit.    (On that note may I suggest starting the MGoDrafts of Hello's for Mario Eugenio, DIllon Bell, and Deone Walker)

Losing Ace hurts the work-flow but he wasn't the grinder he used to be (whether it was health or just getting a life outside work) before he left.  I would be willing to lend a hand once I retire but that is several years out.  Maybe Brian or Seth can find some MGoInterns willing to "collaborate" and "build their brand" in lieu of compensation?

Personally, I don't find the "Player X has committed to Michigan" posts very helpful, because it's posted on the board within 5 minutes of it going public. And the discussion is always better on the MGoBoard post than the front page post. But the MGoBlog guys say the front page gets way more traffic than the board, so maybe they still find those front page posts to be worthwhile.

I think now that Seth is in charge of doing the commitment posts - while juggling other things - it takes him a little longer to put things together. I also think Seth takes deeper dives into commitment info than Ace did. Seth comes out of commitment post researching knowing the kid's favorite color and the gas mileage on his first car.

Yeah what's with that? I used to use the front page as my main source of UM news because it would enevitably be up minutes after any announcement. Now it might take a few days just for the "a guy committed here's his name and position" post, sems like they could probably get someone just to fill out a form for that.

I'm well aware this is a free blog and I'm I'm entitled lol

He was way under the radar until recently - I assume he did some camps and impressed.

MSU and Baylor were by far his best offers prior to the June visit/camp period.  Since then he has picked up M, PSU, and UGA offers.

Just so you are prepared - M is chasing another fast-rising, no-name, low/unranked OL that Sam Webb mentioned on his latest 247 podcast.  (Edit -his name is Ashton Craig - Thx Jersey Blue below..). However, M fans MAY not have to lament over landing him as OSU is trying to get him first.

Or Michigan is doing their due diligence on kids and actually scouting and evaluating recruits instead of having a recruiting site tell them who is and isnt good...

But I’m sure the recruiting sites made their way out to Canada and then Connecticut during CoVid to get a proper evaluation and ranking on this kid. We should let the Michigan, Penn State and Georgia staffs all know they’re making a huge mistake by offering such a low ranked guy and that their own evaluations are wrong.

Sam said the other day that he can play either Tackle or Guard so this doesn't necessarily take a Tackle spot off the board with us still in pursuit of Fitzpatrick and Conerly. Heyer, they say is probably going elsewhere. Ashton Craig, a new name to watch can also play Tackle or Guard.

This is kid is definitely gonna get a boost in the rankings. He’s not only 6’6 285lbs also has offers from PSU, Georgia, MSU. Originally from Canada but just moved Connecticut for more exposure. Both MSU and PSU wanted him bad, this is a big recruiting win for Michigan.

I don’t believe he’s unranked. He’s a 3* who will most likely rise in the rankings. The kid is impressive. I attended Kentucky’s camp on Tuesday and was able to watch Alessandro. He handles the pass rush with ease. In total control. Has very good balance and doesn’t mind pile driving the defender into the ground. This is a very good player. Just watch.

Unranked on composite, 3* on 247. Both likely to increase.

Edit: Rivals and/or ESPN updated his ranking. He’s now #705 in the composite.

The fact that recruiting sites get away with not having rankings for a kid and then arbitrarily putting a ranking on them when they commit somewhere should be the biggest sign that you can’t always trust the sites.

There are a few positions where stars mean almost nothing to me once you hit the 3* mark and that's OL. Those ranked higher mostly tend to be closer to being ready to play college ball. Obviously there are physical/athletic freaks that warrant 5* rankings and such but with OL you mainly just want a kid that's big, can move well, take on good weight and learn. It's not a case of "he has it or doesn't" by the time he leaves HS. Tons of NFL OL were literally unknowns to most CFB fans even as players, let alone recruits.

Skill positions are where you want to see "it" by the time they're 14yo, let alone 18yo. I'd throw interior DL in there as well but that's just me. With OL, just give me a big kid with a good frame, feet, wingspan and brain. This kid seems to fit that bill. This is one 3* the star gazers shouldn't worry about (not that they should never worry but that's a debate I'm not starting).
