HEIKO: postgame quotes and video from mgoblue

Submitted by Heiko on

Hey everyone,

I wasn't in Chicago yesterday, so I wasn't able to attend the presser. Since mgoblue.com didn't stream the post-game press conference, I don't have much worth transcribing. Fortunately, they have most of the noteworthy material in bits and pieces and some transcripts of their own.

Also, you can piece together some of the other stuff by reading game recaps from the Detroit News, annarbor.com, and wolverinenation.

I'll be in East Lansing next week, so there will be coverage and photos.

Good to see that Hoke and Co can really inspire the team to change their play at half time. I expected us to play better at the half just because of the way that Mattison has made adjustments in the past and they exceeded my expectations and then some.

Quote of the day, from Huyge on Denard at halftime:

"Nothing ever needs to be said. I love playing with him; everyone loves playing with him. And we knew he would do what was necessary."

Denard is more than a man.

So a thing I was wondering: what happened at RB?  Shaw got the majority of the carries in the second half and Smith barely played.  Was it something about NW stuffing the center of the field and Shaw's speed to the outside being more useful or did Vincent get hurt?  Wish someone had asked, but I haven't seen anything about it.

"Was it something about NW stuffing the center of the field and Shaw's speed to the outside being more useful"

Probably this. NW sold out to stop the inside run all game (I believe they played in a 4-3 against our spread), and Shaw only really came in at the half. My guess is that they needed a RB to stretch the field horizontally, and neither of the other RBs can really do that.

Love Denard and need the ball in his hands, but he's carrying such a heavy load for the team. Fitz and Shaw are clearly capable of doing more.

But great win.  28-0 in the second half says it all.

Just went through all the wrap up videos on espn.. Who the F thought it was a good idea to hire Michael Rothstein??  He looks like he's gonna murder me and then use my body as a dungeons and dragons board.

On a less OT note, it's clear that Hoke has fully indoctrinated this team and I love it.  It's like he scripted a set of answers for them all to use in pressers.  Anyone who can make every stupid leading question the press asks fall flat is ok in my book.
