Heads Up: UofM-Wisconsin not on FOX in Central NC
Saw this on The Victors board on Wolverine 24/7 and wanted to share over here. Apparently, due to old Raycom/ACC Network contracts the local FOX station here in Central NC will be broadcasting The Citadel-Clemson at noon instead of the Michigan-Wisconsin game. As best I can tell, the game will only be broadcast on the Fox Sports Go app, as this is an affiliate issue and not a FOX issue.
Wanted to inform my fellow Central NC residents and tell y'all to download the Fox Sports Go app because that's the only way you'll be able to watch it down here.
Also, instead of The Game, my guide is showing the ACC Game of the Week. Really hoping this isn't the case and it changes, but I'm preparing for the worst at this point. I'm beyond pissed right now. It is reprehensible not to have The Game on every FOX station in America.

Cut the cord already, do a trial of YouTubeTV.
November 13th, 2017 at 3:10 PM ^
Glad you brought this up. I was tempted to create another thread but there's been too many already. Maybe someone can help me...
This past weekend I signed up for PS Vue. I've used it in the past with good results but I recently relocated to rural CA and I think that's going to bite me in the ass. I don't get Fox, ABC, NBC or CBS (aside from OnDemand). And last night I tried to watch the Patriots game online via NBC with my log in but got an error along the lines "This provider doesn't allow rebroadcast to your area".
Am I pretty much hosed? I looked into YouTube TV and it is not available here. Are my only legal options conventional cable/dish?
If anyone is willing to really dig in and help me, I'm in Tehachapi, CA (near Bakersfield).
November 13th, 2017 at 3:51 PM ^
Tehachapi is almost certainly out of broadcast range. It's pretty far out there.
FWIW I lived in Lancaster for four years, WW, and it was tough sledding getting television without paying through the nose. You might be out of luck. You're in a beautiful area, though.
November 13th, 2017 at 4:32 PM ^
Did you follow the link? There are broadcast towers less than 30 miles away from Tehachapi for ABC, NBC, and CBS. I didn't look at the detailed topography and so would be amenable to the argument that there are mountains in the way, but I don't think that's what you're saying.
FWIW, this (LINK) says there is at least weak signal for each of those broadcasters in Tehachapi. I don't know what weak signal means as far as what equipment you need, but I wouldn't give up so easily. You can get amplified indoor antennae for less than $30 and outdoor antennae for less than $50.
November 13th, 2017 at 5:31 PM ^
The topography is pretty significant. Tehachapi is, if I recall correctly, on the east side (though near the top of the pass) of the Tehachapi mountains, and certainly on the wrong side of the southern Sierra Nevada from the towers that serve Bakersfield.
My recollection is that no indoor antennas had any hope of getting over-the-air TV in Lancaster despite the towers being only 30 miles away, because the towers were on the other side of the San Gabriel mountains. Kinda stunk for people in my situation, when I could barely afford food and groceries much less cable.
November 13th, 2017 at 3:57 PM ^
I live on the west side of michigan and only get local cbs. I decided to cancel my subscription and sign up as if i was living in ann arbor and now i get all 4 Detroit locals.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:55 PM ^
And it's that simple with PS Vue? You don't need a VPN or anything?
November 13th, 2017 at 8:32 PM ^
I dont use anything special. I cant remember the exact sign up steps but I believe I just put in an ann arbor zip code.
November 13th, 2017 at 9:36 PM ^
Free and legal. Free is non-He but you can sign up for 1 day paid account too.
I can't get anything with an antenna and used it last year. I still use it occasionally for networks.
November 13th, 2017 at 6:22 PM ^
if you're trying to maintain cost, you have to cut internet speed if you were bundled before. I was paying $35/mo for PSVue (going up to $45/mo) and $50/mo for 20MB internet thru Spectrum, I bundled it back up with Spectrum and pay $105 for live TV plus 60MB internet. I got tired of choppy PSVue and just paid the extra $10/mo to fix it
November 13th, 2017 at 8:09 PM ^
FWIW, cutting the cord doesn't completely fix this problem in central NC. It really makes no difference. I have an antenna in Winston-Salem and pick up the local FOX affiliate. It had an ACC game on this past weekend instead of MSU/OSU. Likely to have the same problem this weekend. Either way-- cord, or not, those of us in central NC will need to us the FOX Sports Go app to view the game this weekend (and quite possibly next weekend). Which is goddamn ridiculous.
November 13th, 2017 at 10:32 PM ^
and looked at the 50.2 or 50.3 channel. Do they play the national game on a back channel?
UVerse has managed to have a contract dispute with box fox and nbc locally for the entire football season here in Raleigh, so it is Fox Go or off air broadcasts.
November 13th, 2017 at 2:54 PM ^
Radio still talking about it on fox so ....
November 13th, 2017 at 2:59 PM ^
In Ann Arbor, and throughout the rest of the country, yes. But down here it won't be. My brother-in-law said Fox Sports Go is the only way he could watch MSU/OSU last weekend too.
Just hoping The Game isn't bumped
November 13th, 2017 at 3:14 PM ^
Thanks for the heads up. I am in Raleigh but I was able to see the MSU/OSU game. Maybe it's because I am on Dish? If so, that gives me hope for this Saturday.
November 13th, 2017 at 9:29 PM ^
I'm in Greenville, NC, and I was able to watch much of the MSU/OSU game over the air. (And then I turned it off, because it was too ugly...)
November 13th, 2017 at 2:55 PM ^
There will be blood.
November 13th, 2017 at 3:27 PM ^
Also there will be no coverage at BGSU during a swim meet I am attending for my daughter. Am DVRing it. I am requesting a media black out so I can enjoy our win when I get home to watch it. Easy to turn my phone off, but not every other person in attendance. (BTW no way I will be successful in this )
November 13th, 2017 at 2:55 PM ^
Citadel, Mercer, and Louisiana Monroe. Damn, the southern powers have a tough slate this coming weekend.
November 13th, 2017 at 2:56 PM ^
is being pretty weird about scheduling. I know there are some noon game fans around here but this weekend is a pretty big game and it is an 11 AM local start in Madison. This 4 PM game is Michigan State v. Maryland. Why exactly would they not want Michigan v. Wisconsin as the 4 PM game?
November 13th, 2017 at 5:02 PM ^
I can't figure it out either other than just another reason I can't stand Fox doing B1G games. I have not been impressed with anything they have done this CFB season.
November 14th, 2017 at 10:28 AM ^
was kind of interested in what they would bring to the table but it has only been headaches so far.
November 13th, 2017 at 2:59 PM ^
I knew Fox picking up the Big was gonna cause issues like this. It used to be the early Big 12 games that the shitty ACC game of the week overlapped now it’s cutting into me watching my Wolverines!
November 13th, 2017 at 3:00 PM ^
Check back then and we'll see what we can do for you
November 13th, 2017 at 3:01 PM ^
Thanks for the heads up. Where are you specifically?
November 13th, 2017 at 3:03 PM ^
Winston-Salem
November 13th, 2017 at 3:03 PM ^
Also, this will probably happen with The Game as well I would bet.
November 13th, 2017 at 3:04 PM ^
My DIRECTV guide is currently showing the ACC Game of the Week in that time slot, so I'm afraid so.

cutting the cord isnt worth it unless that 20-40 bucks you save significantly impacts your life.
November 13th, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
As with all things, this depends on circumstances. If you don't argue with Comcast about pricing and you want to have four TVs, that's like $180-$200 a month. With ATT internet and PS Vue that's more like $80-90 per month.
November 13th, 2017 at 4:34 PM ^
Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to let my parents know!
November 13th, 2017 at 5:30 PM ^
Cutting the cord isn't always an option for people. People like me who have poor internet speeds with a bad infrastructure around me makes cutting the cord impossible. Btw, fox has been a nightmare in their coverage of college football.

Leave those tobacco-chewing hillbillies of central Carolina in your rear view mirror. Move back to civilization.
November 13th, 2017 at 7:50 PM ^
uofmfootball97, which Fox affiliate are you talking about? WRAZ?
November 13th, 2017 at 8:03 PM ^
Fox 8 WGHP is our local station out of Greensboro but I would imagine this covers more than just the Triad.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:24 PM ^
Thanks! Hopefully that means I'm in the clear.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:27 PM ^
Thank the heavens I’m heading back to Michigan on Friday.

Thanks Delany, you money-grubbung prick.
All this shit is always for the benefit of somebody else except the actual fans.
November 14th, 2017 at 12:27 AM ^
Luckily, I don't have cable anyway.
November 14th, 2017 at 9:31 AM ^
I am in the Greensboro area Saturday and need a plan.....
November 14th, 2017 at 10:36 AM ^
My Dad lives in the area and isn't happy. What a joke this is.
November 14th, 2017 at 12:26 PM ^
Does Charlotte fall into this category? My TV currently doesn't tell me which game they are showing at this time.
Also, would anyone know if the Alumni bar (Tavern on the tracks) is having this same issue?
Thank You
November 18th, 2017 at 12:25 PM ^
Fox sports go app isn't working, it doesn't have the Michigan game. Anyone have a reliable stream?
November 18th, 2017 at 1:13 PM ^
Here’s where it all unravels for us! Wisconsin will have the long drive for a TD going into halftime. Then Wisky gets the ball coming out.
