Harbaugh warms up Michigan pitcher, Shane Morris at Ray Fisher Stadium

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

In Michigan Baseball's doubleheader sweep of Purdue (also a series sweep), Harbaugh was at the game warming up Michigan closer Bryan Pall.

See: Harbaugh in khakis crouching.

Harbaugh now has Shane Morris on the mound warming up. Looks like he’s QB1 and Michigan baseball’s closer.

John Beilein was also at the games today with his grandkids-

Big series sweep for Michigan as they are now 3 games above .500 in the B1G.

Michigan took game 1 against Purdue in a 9-0 rout and won the second game in a close 7-5 win.

Michigan outscored Purdue 25-8 this weekend.

It's not as fun as it used to be. The aluminum bats aka "PING!" being gone has reduced the number of high-scoring, high-flying shitshows.

Doubtful we'll see another instance of Michigan beating MSU 27-6 like they did in 2008, again.

The real high performance bats were in the 1990s. I saw future MLB pitchers Mark Mulder and JJ Putz face each other and the game was 14-10 in the 5th inning. All these kids who would never play baseball beyond college were squaring up Mulder like he was a high schooler.

Let me try to explain this in terms you might understand, WD.   The absence of "pings" is to baseball as noon games are to Michigan Stadium.

And good riddance to 27-6 scores.   That's a football game, not a baseball game.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he and Harbaugh are getting closer? Maybe Harbaugh sees the most upside with Shane given his cannon arm. Will be interesting to see who ends up playing the most this fall. I'm sure Jake R. isn't coming to Michigan with the thought of sitting on the bench. The QB battle this summer should be intense.

Shane has the most pure talent.  With Hoke, it just seemed like, Hey Shane, go out there and play.

With Harbaugh, he knows firsthand the position and is going to do everything to connect with him.    Shane needs guidance and Harbaugh is the best possible mentor.

He talked to the Women's Gymnastics team about Bo the week of the B1G Championships.

What he said worked. They went out and defended Crisler, dominating the rest of the B1G and winning their second straight B1G Championship.

I will say that if it wasn't obvious before that - despite all the places he could have gone - that Ann Arbor was where Harbaugh really wanted to be, it probably should be now. Warmup catcher, motivational speaker....as someone said above, he tries to be where he can when he can and it is great to witness the seemingly boundless energy.

It reminds me of the quote a recruit said about meeting JH. Coach told him and the group of recruits he was in that UM will be back on top again because he loves UM AND Ann Arbor too much to fail.
I thought it was interesting JH included loving A2 and not just UM. To me, that screams love. To an impartial observer, this may seem innocent enough, but to me who loves both UM and A2 as well, this shows this is his dream job, because he understands/knows being a student at UM is not all there is to it. Living here is just as rewarding. It is a great college town and community too! It's the whole package, not just a football team.

Or as my Sparty dad would say, Ann Arbor is 1 square mile surrounded by reality.
And to use another quote about Ann Arbor, a long time boss of mine at a restaurant told me when I asked if he was going to move after he sold his business, Mickey Mouse never leaves Disneyland.

With the fun JH is having, it appears Mickey Mouse might have left, but he definitely is back home!!

Long story short, I'm loving having JH as our coach. And he couldn't care less about that, because he's too busy, loving being our coach!

I know a few of the girls, they loved Harbaugh but they were going to win regardless! Great girls!

Women's tennis are sweethearts too and they wrapped a share of the BIG Friday and will beat Penn St today which might make them solo champs, but I'm not sure if anyone else has to lose to make that happen or not.

with all the awesome Harbaugh-mania going on all over campus, I've been thinking about how lucky Michigan is to have Jim Hackett right now.

Apart from hiring Jim Harbaugh (& allowing Harbaugh the $ & flexibility to assemble the staff he has) I think the biggest plus for Jim Hackett right now is his willingness to let Harbaugh be Harbaugh.

The dude is seemingly everywhere at once, softball, baseball, ultimate frisbee, recuiting camps, interviews, etc.  He's living the dream, and is obviously enjoying the hell out of himself (deservedly).  He's got a big ego for sure, but backs it up with a big brain and a big heart so that although he pust himself in the spotlight 24/7, he's actually a genuine guy.

Can you, even for a second imagine Dave Brandon standing idly by not saying a word as Jim Harbaugh singlehandedly takes over Michigan athletics with an enthusiam unknown to mankind?

I'm not trying to start another round of DB bashing and it doesn't matter whether you liked him, or though he drank unicorn blood by night;  there's no way Dave Brandon lets someone else take center stage like this.

I'm sure Dave Brandon loves Michigan, but his love for Dave Brandon always seemed to get in the way.

I don't know how calculated it is, but right now Jim Hackett's doing all the right things I'm NOT hearing about.
