Harbaugh supports freedom of speech

Submitted by StephenRKass on

In the post-game interview after today's game, Harbaugh was asked about NFL owners firing players who protest by not singing the national anthem.

Asked Saturday night after a 28-10 win over Purdue if he agrees with President Donald Trump's suggestion that NFL owners "fire" any player seen protesting the national anthem, Harbaugh's answer was quick:

"No, I don't agree with the president," Harbaugh said. "That's ridiculous.

"Check the Constitution."

The NFL owners could have salvaged this situation if they didn't blackball Kaep.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if you have more players kneeling than ever.

Good one NFL, good one.

This thread is gonna get nuked harder than Pyongyang.

So, while it's up I will say that this isn't remotely a partisan issue. Free speech is free speech is free speech. It's one of the most vital principles of our republic. It doesn't matter if you think Kaep is an idiot and a shitty QB (I happen to), you must absolutely support his and others' right to demonstrate and express peacefully.

The University is currently dealing with a PR nightmare given the racist graffiti spree that has been going on in campus dorms and the Rock.

If that's your idea of "diversity of thought," then we got issues.

I think the point of it is that the "President of the United States of America" is actively lobbying for people to be fired for exercising their freedom of speech. If an NFL owner said this instead then big deal that's like his opinion man. But the "President of the United States of America" should not be making statements like this at all.

Owners also have the freedom to cut players who knee if they desire. This whole thing is stupid. Why can't we just ignore these idiots who knee at such an inappropriate time ?
