Harbaugh Deal could be done by End Of Week Per Sam Webb

Just a bit of info from 247 and Sam Webb. If this is not allowed I apologize in advance.and please feel free to remove

I feel it necessary now to turn attention back to Harbaugh Webblog Part Three where I emphasized how that was a piece from the perspective of agents. It’s important to note the perspectives presented here in Part Four come from University and donor circles. They believe the agent views of Harbaugh being at the top of Denver’s list are off. They also believe that Harbaugh’s strong preference is to stay put in Ann Arbor. An obvious litmus test of their views will be if an in-person interview with Denver is scheduled. As of this evening, sources in University circles indicated no such request has been made yet. That has only added to the confidence that Harbaugh is nearing a deal with Michigan. How near, you ask? Those same sources expressed their belief that an agreement could be reached by the end of the week. If the process drags out longer than that and an in-person interview is scheduled, then the confidence that they expressed this evening will be diminished. Especially with the dead period set to end Thursday, and Harbaugh expected to be in Colorado sometime after that for a home visit with Aurora (Colo.) Regis Jesuit LB Hayden Moore.

Yeah I mainly wanted to show that the deal was close, but I did read the buyout was substantial and has stalled things a bit. Honestly I didn't want to paste the whole article in here. Someone mentioned the post was too long already as it is. I don't think the gap is insurmountable though.

Wait, if this is really true, then how on earth could any inside source believe that Harbaugh's preference is to stay put at Michigan??

If you WANT to stay, then you don't care about a large buyout, you don't pause negotiations, and you don't reach out to NFL teams.

So which is it?

Just look at the negotiations for Carlos Correa today re-signed by the Twins for $200m over 6 years. On the night the Giants were on the verge of closing a 13-year $385 million contract with the shortstop-3B, the Mets jumped in and nearly signed him away before questions about his longterm health surrounding a previous ankle injury scuttled both pending deals.

That enabled the Twins to jump back in and make a deal they had originally offered Correa, elevated only by another $15m.

Today the Twins cleared him after a physical and now have their all-star back in the fold. Both the Giants and Mets indicated their concern were over paying guaranteed money to Correa over the back end of his deal, not the first 6 years.

A deal is never done, until it's done.

I think his agent is advising that before he signs a new contract with a huge buyout, they're calling all suitors with interest. Can't blame him and his agent for wanting to get the most they can get. Whatever you think about him, he is definitely a winner everywhere he goes. I think we have our guy no matter how weird or unorthodox his approach is and they should give him a lifetime contract that keeps his salary in the top 5 of college coaches and a huge buyout clause. I honestly believe he wants to be here, he just wants Michigan to show that they want him here, as well as their appreciation $$$ for his services.

Well there are a lot of delusional people on this blog that think this is all just a ploy from JH to get more money.  That he is just using the NFL as “leverage” for more money.  Of course this is all nonsense and JH prefers to be in the NFL and the only reason these negotiations are taking so long is because he wants to make sure his NFL options are dead in the water before signing.  He’s dragging his feet on purpose.  That’s not to say he would be unhappy staying at M, but it’s very clearly not his #1 preference.

I don't think any of this is a ploy. It's just business. This is his alma mater. It's where it all started for him and the only thing that would make him want to be somewhere else is more money, long term. I couldn't imagine that even you would walk away from millions of dollars simply because of nostalgia. Of course it's leverage but the leverage is created by the suiters who come around every year screaming what his value is, as a result of his success. He and his agent can't ignore that.  Like I said, If this guy is our modern day Bo, then give him the long term/life time contract that guarantees he will be among the highest paid, along with an astronomical buyout clause. That stops all the bullshit and we ride with Jim until he retires like Bo or like other legends. Again, I think he loves Michigan, the fans and alumni love him and it's not that he longs for an NFL coaching job because he's done that already. Besides, NFL coaches don't typically stay employed that long anyway. It's more likely that he wants Michigan to guarantee he stays among the highest paid for the longest period of time. I say lets pay him and get back to building the dynasty without distractions.

1138 is a reference to THX 1138, George Lucas's first feature film.

Harbaugh feels he is imprisoned in a society (Michigan) where he has no freedom (Prohibitive buyout) and has to suppress his emotions (Manuel scolding him after 2016 OSU). He eventually escapes the police (Michigan fans and media) and emerges from an airshaft to witness a sunset in a natural setting (Colorado).

He's gone.

Translation:

Jim Harbaugh back with a new contract. Sounds like 7 years at $100 million or 6 years at $90 million.

Jadyn Davis (5* QB from North Carolina) is committing soon to Michigan. His teammates from the same high school are also committing to Michigan. That would be 4* WR Channing Goodwin and 3* WR Jordan Shipp.

ASpeca is Anthony Speca (4* LB).

It's been 1138 days since Ohio St has beat Michigan
