Great story on Harbaugh after victory over Neuheisel

Submitted by amir_6 on
"We're driving, trying to score and get the two-pointer to tie the game," Neuheisel said, as he starts to get animated. "We don't get it done. I walk across to shake his hand. He runs up, he's as excited as he can be, he slaps my hand and says, 'What'd you think about that, Ricky!' And takes off. (http://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverine…)

I pray for the day when we beat ohio badly and go for 2 at the end of the game and when someone asks JH why he went for 2, he can explain it was to get even for woody's asinine move - Michigan Daily 11/22/02:

No Wolverine will forget the 1968 thrashing at the hands of the top-ranked Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium. Michigan kept it close until the half, but Ohio State ran off 29 straight points for the 50-14 victory - but legendary Ohio State coach Woody Hayes wanted more.

On the Buckeyes' last touchdown, Hayes elected to go for the two-point conversion. When asked afterwards by reporters for his reasoning? He replied simply,

"Cause I couldn't go for three."

the type of thing Pete would have done vs. a rival opponent. People get sick of hearing about USC, and all the drooling that goes on over them...so, he got an appropriate smack down. It's funny, but I'd be pissed if I were on the other side.

He might be a jerk, but he's OUR jerk, and I love him.

He pranks his players, runs a loose practice, and talks smack when someone on his team does something awesome.  And yeah, he loves being cheeky.

Actually, after he left USC I grew to like him quite a lot.  It wasn't so great when he kept beating us in Rose Bowls, obviously.

at the Seahawks too. I think Pete Carroll is similar to JH, in that he is a competitor, and has fun winning. Comes across like a dick at times, but if he's on *your* side you like him. So, there is a general perception about him. I did know there were examples out there because I live in Southern California and remembered him doing stuff like that, even if I don't remember the details.

We start thumping good teams like that, especially laying a beating down against OSU or MSU, like stanford did to USC in that clip. I wonder of the two, urbz or mork, would take it worse?

For what it's worth, Schwartz is the only coach who called Harbaugh on his post-game behavior.  After rewatching the film, it looks like Schwartz was pretty damn interested in getting a bit of shoving match started.

Going for 2 was only part of the story.  OSU actually kicked the extra point which was good.  We were offsides.  Woody took the penalty taking the point off the board and then went for 2.  I watched it from the south endzone where it all took place.
