Sounds like we are flipping the DT from TX that's committed to Colorado.

I’m prepared for “meh”. Think Magee and Dudek need to be shown the door.
February 3rd, 2021 at 5:39 AM ^
Those guys are bringing in the #11th ranked recruiting class to a team that totally sucked in 2020. Every team in the top 15, using 247 data, had a better 2020 than Michigan. I mean, not sure what more you think could’ve been done here.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:05 AM ^
Considering we had a really bad season and were in a bit of limbo with our coaching situation, a top 15 recruiting class is pretty much a damn miracle.
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:38 AM ^
I think the coaches we brought in have done a fine job. The Harbaughs (Jim and Jay) never conceded he was leaving while the rumors were in here and in NFL circles. Coach was consistent that he wasn't leaving and told the recruits as much. To get a top 15 class at Michigan is not as hard as it is elsewhere. Dudek and Magee run a clunky operation. It has been reported multiple times by people in and around the program. It is apparent that there were coaches not doing well on the trail but I still believe Dudek, especially, will benefit from the new coaches' efforts, not the other way around.
February 3rd, 2021 at 9:04 AM ^
So how do you know they run a clunky operation? Details? Or just star gazing?
To land Rooks and Benny both early leans and possibly the texas dt after Don Brown leaves but Nua stays tells you there were issues with Dline recruits with how Don Brown wanted to utilize the interior dt position as well as being easily negatively recruited by other schools.
To land recruits after a 2-4 crazy covid year and lots of staff change. Questions of rather Harbaugh would return at all either leaving or being let go with the vultures swirling on recruits and others on the program trying to feast on the demise of Harbaugh presents a different story to clunky operation. It tells you the recruiting coordination and communication with recruits was there the entire time. Never faltered and presented a great future and better future at Michigan than was presented at other schools trying to land those recruits.

Stop, I can only take so much good news at a time

Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:10 AM ^
Michigan appears to be headed for at least the #11 class. Would you be happier if they brought in the #30 class?
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:45 AM ^
That is a bit of hyperbole, Don. Dudek has been overseeing the recruitment for a few years. Let's review:
2018 - 22 on 247
2019 - 8 on 247
2020 - 14 on 247
2021 - 10 on 247
Average of 13.5 on 247.
Dudek and Magee have not been great. It's okay to say it.
February 3rd, 2021 at 9:13 AM ^
Do you realize the coaching staff is more responsible for who they land, not the recruiting coordinators? Develops and maintains prospects lists for coaching staff, facilitating communication, scheduling on and off campus recruiting visits, NCAA and University Compliance logging all data, eligibility status, call and visit logs... It's an enormous amount of work.
Keeping up with everything and a coaching staff updated on all of this while maintaining all contact with coaches, high schools, athletes and families is insane. If anything I think they are highly organized and likely need more staff. Saban has a ginormous staff for this organization.

Looks like our recruiting (according to the rankings) is outpacing the on-field product.
The recruiting has been fine. Coaching up the recruiting has been the issue.

Trying to be positive but feels like waking up Christmas morning and getting a coloring book and crayons while watching the other kids ride there new bikes
February 3rd, 2021 at 6:12 AM ^
Username checks out
Trying to be positive? Your effort is pathetic! I think what you are really trying to do is hide your true allegiance to the inferior academic institution down south.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:06 AM ^
Borderline top 10 class with multiple top 100 players and you make this statement?... you call that “trying to be positive”?
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:11 AM ^
Some people are just determined to be miserable.
February 3rd, 2021 at 6:27 AM ^
Definitely getting a DT or two...
February 3rd, 2021 at 6:47 AM ^
Did Michigan flip Rashaun Benny? Just turned Sam on, and he is talking like Benny is in the class.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:20 AM ^
I need to see Rashuan Benny run a 40 yard dash with a split screen of Benny Hill chasing ladies to determine who the fastest Benny is because these are the things that keep me awake at night.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:58 AM ^
Benny Hill chasing the ladies... That is a scene that consistently flows through my memories. My dad often watched Benny when I was little, and he got a big kick out of that. Or was it a big kick watching me laugh my little ass off? I dunno... Either way, that is some great stuff!

Benny Hill runs a 4.4 40 Chasing women
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:21 AM ^
Not yet. It’s like a 30-40% chance. Seems like some positive signs but he’s a tough kid to read and is more likely to stick with MSU. Cautiously optimistic though
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:30 AM ^
Publicly he's been all MSU, recruiting for them and reaffirming his commitment. Behind closed doors, I think Wiltfong and Trieu have heard some things to make them think otherwise. Wiltfong said it's a toss up and Trieu thinks it's a MSU lean but possible flip (which is different from what he was saying just two days ago, when he said he doesn't think a flip is a possibility. Bellamy and Nua supposedly have been making a really strong push towards the finish line. So we'll see if its enough.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:43 AM ^
It’s extra confusing because we’re hoping for 2 flips today so any noise of flips can mean either further confirmation of Ike or new reports for Benny
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:53 AM ^
Trieu must not think that any longer...he flipped his prediction to UM with a confidence of 7 this morning.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:48 AM ^
Can he play DT?
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:58 AM ^
A user on RCMB claims insiders are saying he's flipping. Take that FWIW.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:35 AM ^
With Harbaugh at the helm it doesn't much matter.
February 3rd, 2021 at 7:36 AM ^
Rayshaun Benny will be announcing at 10 am.
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:23 AM ^
Two 3*'s and an exploding maizen
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:28 AM ^
Does the Feb NSD really mean anything anymore? I guess minus a few stragglers it seems like everyone who's anyone is already committed to a school. I remember this used to be the day where teams like FSU and Alabama would land three or four additional five star kids and skyrocket up the recruiting ranks, but unless I'm not paying enough attention there really doesn't seem to be much of anything that happens today anymore,
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:35 AM ^
The major day has changed to December, but the February one still means something especially when big time players hold off their commitment or you’re trying to flip players to shore up holes as Michigan is trying to do today. Players who would have held off announcing until all American games would also sign today. Just because Michigan usually has 98% of its class done by December signing day doesn’t mean the February one is meaningless
February 3rd, 2021 at 8:42 AM ^
Well with Michigan flipping 1 maybe 2 DTs, today is a big day so far.
