Good article on Coach Rich Rod

Submitted by Young Pretty a… on

Article gives good perspective on Coach Rod and how he is handling the current situation.

With all the drama and complications Coach Rod has handled everything with class.

Same can be said about every issue he has faced since he has been in Ann Arbor.

"It would sound like I'm lobbying," Rodriguez said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I've got a great job and we're looking forward to finishing it."

I cannot agree more with SC Wolverine. The character assassination of Rich Rodriguez has been so over the top from the media and so called "true Michigan fans" it's almost comical. There have been so many comments about him being "a hillbilly" and "nothing but a loser". Some people like to ignore that this "hillbilly" is from the same area as Fielding Yost, the man who laid the ground work for Michigan's historical presence of today. Then you have people that say he's always been a loser. That group has a combined IQ of about 70 because to ignore what he has done prior to Michigan is idiotic. In fact many of "loser" crowd are amongst the biggest Harbaugh boosters. What makes that even more annoying is they point to what Harbaugh has done at Stanford (which is impressive, no doubt) but never acknowledge what Rodriguez accomplished at Tulane, Clemson, and West Virginia.

Maybe Coach Rodriguez isn't the right fit, maybe he  won't work out but when people assault his character and credentials you truly see how pathetic so many people are. If Brandon deceides to move on and things don't improve in 2 years with a new coach then what? Fire him too?

Welcome to the age of instant gratification and character assassination.

since arriving here at M was leaving WVA! This man had EVERYTHING going for him there. He left it all for the mystification of the block M and what did he receive from the very beginning? I'll tell you what! A bunch of BULL SHIT from people trying to fill the VOID that BO left! As a so-called "Walmart" Wolverine for over 40 years it saddens me to see RR attacked by M fans that in most cases KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL OTHER THEN WINS AND LOSSES.

My home is a "house divided" w/green and white, it may become one after watching this continued character assasination of RR.

It's not about the wins or losses. Do you really think RR would have been treated the way he has if Bo or Canham were still around? NOT NOT NOT!!!

your head Sal. Michigan Football would never have treated any coach the way RR was treated if the two people that built the modern day program were still around. Bo and Canham. RR is caught in a POLITICAL VACUUM. Like I said before, THE BIGGEST MISTAKE RR MADE WAS  LEAVING WVA TO COACH MICHIGAN !!! SEE YA!

I love Michigan football and you are right other fans should not impact that love.  But, sometimes you have to ask yourself, why some fans of your team would cheer for them to lose.  Yeah, I know every fan base has their one off's, but I don't think there is a more divided fan base than ours for a longer period of time.

I agree with all of your comments and truly don't understand the over-ratio of shit that has been lobbed at RR since he arrived.  Of course the victory meltdown and destruction of the longest streak of bowl games threw gas on the fire.  There is a dufus on MGoLive, actually the site is mostly dufundi, who cannot stop hurling criticisms at RR's wife.  How low can one go?

Love him or hate him, he's dealt with everything well, at least in my opinion.  Everyone seems to try and paint him out as this evil figure hell bent on the destruction of Michigan football, but I really think he's just a coach trying to do his best amid a horrible situation.

The man hasn't had a fair chance since the seconds after he was announced as Michigan's next head coach.

Have given DB all the data points he will ever need to have to evaluate and determine what kind of man and football coach RR is and will continue to be should he decide to continue with him.

3 years of rebuilding and reloading and intense pressure and intense feelings have all been loaded onto the man.  Will be interesting to see how this all turns out.  Really, no matter what decision is made, we will not know a lot about how right the decision was for another couple of years.
