Gator recruit: 'I know we'll have 2-3' titles.

Until a signing-day surge by Southern Cal, Florida's 2010 recruiting class was widely hailed as the best in the country. In fact, it was being argued that it was the most talented class -- on paper -- in the history of the game.

Even given the Trojans' surge, most of the major recruiting services -- with the exception of Rivals.com -- gave the nod to the Gator group.
It remains to be seen how the paper champions will perform on the field. If you ask one member of the class, however, you should expect great things -- and a lot of bling -- if you're a member of Gator Nation.
Speaking to the Orlando Sentinel, defensive end Lynden Trail went Nostradamus (Nostradumbass?) when asked what he sees in the future for his class.
"I know we'll bring at least 2-3 national championships," Trail said.
"I just feel like we have so much special talent at every position. And we're all going to make sure to work hard. This group is determined to make a difference."
Ah, the hubris of youth.
Given the emergence of Alabama as the dominant program in the nation -- at least for the time being -- Mr. Trail might want to focus on winning the SEC before setting the bar for his class at BcS crystal.

they may get 2-3 titles but they won't have a fully implemented "No Fly Zone" now will they?

They also tried to recruit Devin Gardner, Recardo Miller, Marvin Robinson, Courtney Avery, Will Hagerup, and Demar Dorsey. So with that reasoning. looks like we will be playing Florida in the 2012 nc game. GO BLUE!

Look how Clausen's guarantee of winning a national championship went over in south bend. I would love for this kid to eat his words in a few years.
Florida's class seems to be amazing on the defensive side while USC seems to be amazing on the offensive side.

how his 4 Heismans worked out.

and saw "titties" and started thinking the recruit was talking about Total Recall

I had no idea that Beano Cook posted under a pen name.

Whatever happened to Ron Powlus anyway?

for buying twenty cases of "Bronz-o-brite" to polish all those anticipated Heismans.
For real? He used to be QB coach at ND. Don't know if he's still coaching. I always felt kind of bad for the guy. Beano did him no service with that ridiculous prediction.

He is at Akron now with half of Weis's old assistants

2-3 titles over 5 years in college football would be quite a feat.
I mean, maybe if we had a playoff system then it would be possible. But in today's current system, 1 or 2 losses every year = no chance at a natty title.
For reference, the recent Florida Gators were national title holders in 2006 and 2008 (and were Henne'd in 2007). The last time a team has won multiple championships in 5 years? You'd have to go back to the 80's with Miami to find that.

Nebraska: '94, '95 and '97****
LSU: '03 and '07

Asterisks are nice touch... damn them.

But I believe a certain red/white school does claim championships in '94 - '95 - '97... I know that cuts deep in these parts, as it should, but it is technically possible.

Is this surprising? The top-ranked recruiting class in the country is going to the school that has won two of the last four national titles. If I were him I'd probably be saying the same thing. We might want to dig up the sound bites from the 1998 recruiting class and see what they had to say.

Ask Mallet if those who came with him won three.

He must not be aware that the all mighty Tebow graduated .. shhh dont tell him guys.

I'm pretty sure recruits have no idea, it's the media and their infatuation with Florida that made these kids believe they were putting together a dream team. Just because OSU, Florida, and USC recruited these kids doesn't mean their signiture is a guaranteed trip to the National Championship. Lucky for the other 100 teams out there it takes more than media frenzied talent to be champions!!
